Peter Aust and Evelyn Hamann in Le renard (1977)

Trivia

Evelyn Hamann

Edit
  • Evelyn Hamann was introduced by Jürgen Brees (Vicco von Bülow's editor at Radio Bremen) to Loriot who was looking for a female protagonist for his new show "Loriot (I - VI)" in 1976. Jürgen Brees had seen Evelyn Hamann on stage in Brechts "Kleinbürgerhochzeit" in Bremen and was convinced of her talent. Although Loriot was looking for a small, chubby and blond housewife type Jürgen Brees recommended to invite Evelyn. Loriot agreed and Evelyn, who showed up in jeans and t-shirt for the audition, convinced Loriot of her talent and her versatility. It was the beginning of a 30 year long lasting working relationship.
  • Loriot started writing parts especially for Evelyn Hamann which presented her with a top position among the actors of 'Loriot I - VI.'.
  • Her father Bernhard was concert-master of the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg, her mother a singer and music educator.
  • Became widely popular as sketch and movie partner of Vicco von Bülow, so some people still believe they were married in real life. Although having been a close friend, von Bülow has been married to another woman for over 50 years.
  • Was given the Cross of Merit, First class (one of Germany`s most important decorations) in 1993 and became honorary commissioner of the Bavarian police for her role on Adelheid und ihre Mörder (1993) in 1998.
  • After attending acting lessons at the Hamburg University of Music and the Performing Arts, she started her stage career at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg (1968).
  • Her brother Gerhard was a professor of cello at Trossingen School of Music.
  • Was also a noted voice actress, reading crime novels of Patricia Highsmith and several other audio books.
  • As she had kept her private life out of the public eye, her relationship to actor Stefan Behrens was revealed after her death (2007).
  • Always wanted to be an actress and started acting at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg while still in school.
  • Had to speak parts of the 'English Announcement' (Loriot VI: Englische Ansage/Inhaltsangabe' 1977) 25 times until director Vicco von Bülow was content with the intonation and the bloopers. Later on she performed this part live in front of audiences when she went on a reading tour with Loriot. (Lesung im Palast der Republik 1987).
  • Moved on to the 'green sofa' in 1978 to host 'Loriot V and VI' together with Vicco von Bülow.
