It's always nice to hear a story where someone tells Hollywood to go f*ck itself. Which is, quite literally, what James Patterson did when executives asked him to re-write his iconic Alex Cross character as a white man. And now Cross television star Aldis Hodge — who plays the titular character — is speaking out about what it means to have kept Alex Cross a Black man.
Speaking with BuzzFeed, Hodge explained that he was "shocked, impressed, and proud" when he heard the author of the wildly successful Alex Cross novels was asked by some Hollywood executives to sign a seven-figure deal — but only if he changed the character's race to white.

Aldis Hodge's Alex Cross isn't leaving Prime Video anytime soon. Ben Watkins, the creator and showrunner of Cross, has shared a major update on the crime thriller series' future on the Amazon streamer.
Speaking with Collider, Watkins was asked for an update on Season 2 of Cross, which was confirmed by the streamer in April 2024. "Season 2 is actually filmed. I'm gonna go ahead and give you a spoiler because, fuck it. We started the [writers'] room back in November, we started filming in April, we finished production in September, and we're actually in post-production on Season 2," Watkins revealed. "Each season is a book for me. They're all based on new mysteries. Season 1 is Hero Complex, and Season 2 is called Bitter Fruit.
