His greatest popularity came in 1972, when he played the role of the postman Braulio in the TVE series Crónicas de un pueblo , directed by Antonio Mercero . His subsequent career focused above all on television and theater, founding his own company and also making inroads into the magazine genre .

In 1966/67 Jesús Guzmán had a puppet theater in the facilities of the San Miguel de las Hermandades del Trabajo swimming pool , in the popular Carabanchel neighborhood of Madrid, also giving away toys and candy to children on summer afternoons.

On July 18, 2021, on the occasion of the celebration of the tributes of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the series "Crónicas de un pueblo" , Jesús Guzmán visited Santorcaz where he was honored with a plaque, and the assembly hall has now been named after him.

The Association of Friends of the Theaters of Spain (AMITE) awarded him its gold medal in 2012 for his long career in the world of cinema and theater, and for the affection of the people of Spain.

His appearances on the big screen are marked by comic cast characters, very frequent in Spanish cinema of the sixties, and also in some spaghetti westerns of the time such as For a Few Dollars More , Who Screams Vengeance? or Ocaso de un pistolero (Hands of a Gunfighter).

He was awarded in 1972 with the "Medalla de Plata de la Orden del Mérito Postal" (Silver Medal of the Order of Postal Merit).

At the beginning of his career he played various supporting roles in companies such as 'Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro' and toured Latin America.

He made his theater debut in 1935 in the play 'Passion and Death of Jesus'. This happened in the theater company owned by his parents.

He spent his childhood in the city of Barcelona.

He appeared in many western films shot in Almería such as Sartana Kills Them All (1970), For a Few Dollars More (1965), and Ocaso de un pistolero (1965).

In recent years he has been seen making a single appearance on the TVE show "La Hora de José Mota" , where he played an old pensioner who goes to see how his pension will turn out with the increase, and the character with whom he interacts José Mota plays Javier Bardem in the film "No Country for Old Men" .

He rose to fame as the postman in 'Crónicas de un pueblo', but he has also participated in more than 300 plays and more than 150 films. He himself recognized it, because of Jesús Guzmán very few people knew how to identify who he was, but when talking about the postman in Crónicas de un pueblo , the role that launched him to fame, things change. That character, so closely linked to his image and his career, continued to bring the veteran actor the affection of several generations, men and women who still stopped him on the street to greet him.

Guzmán was the great-grandson of the actor Antonio Guzmán.
