Ken Gullekson is a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor, known for UFOs: Insights from the Source (2014), Christmas Tip (2013), Pepper's Story (2010) and The Johnny Raff Chronicles # 1 (2012).
Ken began making movies with his father's 8mm camera while studying science at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California. While longing to make movies professionally, but having taken his degree in physics, Ken's first career was as a mechanical engineer, and he applied his technical training to a variety of disciplines, including aerospace, manufacturing, quality engineering, and mechanical design. In his last engineering position, Ken designed mechanical effects for the "Journey Into Imagination" attraction at Walt Disney's EPCOT Center in Florida.
All the while, Ken continued to write, produce, direct, shoot, and edit his own short films, and served as house cinematographer for the Ultimate Crutch Theatre, the home of Drusba Productions.
In 1983, finally yielding full time to his passion for the motion picture arts, Ken launched a second career in that field, focusing initially on cinematography. In 1984, Ken served as Director of Photography on director James Jaeger's first feature film, Over Exposed (1984), earning praise from the director for being able to aesthetically set up and light the shot "in almost no time" (admittedly an exaggeration, but heartfelt nonetheless). The following year, Ken shot director Stephen Mitchell's film, Woman on the Beach (1985), starring Swedish film star Margareta Sjödin and director Mitchell, and co-starring Pat Tanzillo.
Expanding his reach, Ken was soon writing, producing and directing corporate video and visual communications projects for GTE, Pacific Bell, Media Learning Systems, and many other concerns in Southern California. This work paid the bills and afforded Ken the opportunity to learn and write about a wide variety of subjects, including ethics, quality improvement, customer courtesy, industrial safety, corporate hiring, drug abuse, mental illness, and the law.
Meanwhile, Ken wrote numerous screenplays and teleplays, published two non-fiction books in the field of lay law, and penned a New Age novel titled "The Brink of Tomorrow."
Since shooting Over Exposed (1984) for James Jaeger, Ken has shot interviews of subject matter experts for eight documentaries written, produced, and directed by Jaeger.
