Biography

    • Max Gülstorff was born on March 23, 1882 in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany [now Sovetsk, Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia]. He was an actor, known for Die Reise um die Erde in 80 Tagen (1919), Écartement du droit chemin (1939) and Ein Glas Wasser (1923). He died on February 6, 1947 in Lichtenrade, Berlin, Germany.

  • German character comedian, on stage from 1900. Ensemble member of Max Reinhardt's Deutsches Theater in 1915. In Vienna from 1923 as director of the Theater in der Josefstadt and occasional author of plays. In silent films from 1916, but only achieved popularity in talking films, often in eccentric comedy roles. Best remembered as the enjoyably obtuse school's inspector in Ce diable de garçon (1944).
  • The actor Gülstorff was a highly gifted film comedian who also convinced in other genres.
  • His career began in the 10's where he made his film debut but his extreme comical talent was also popular in the sound film era.
  • He first appeared in 1900 at the Rudolstadt municipal Theater and moved to Cottbus in 1908.
  • In 1911 Gülstorff went to the Schillertheater Berlin and became a member of the ensemble of Max Reinhardt's Deutsches Theater in 1915.
