Trivia

Gustl Gstettenbaur

Edit
  • Former child actor, also billed as 'Gustl Stark-Gstettenbauer'. Discovered for the stage by the actor Eugen Klöpfer. Often seen in Bavarian mountaineering or Heimatfilms as assorted bucolic or comical characters, including forest rangers, smugglers, hunters etc. From the 1950's, operated a rustic B & B and wine parlor in Hindelang (Allgäu).
  • Before the actor Gustl Stark-Gstettenbaur had his first successes as a child star in the film business he was an enthusiastic apparatus gymnast and in 1926 he was trained by Georg "Joe" Stark as an artist. Later they appeared together in various cabarets.
  • During World War II he was only able to play in two movies.
  • In the 50's increased his engagements again and he appeared most in movies with a regional background like "Der Geigenmacher von Mittenwald" (1950), "Heimatglocken" (1952) or "Das Schweigen im Walde" (1955).
  • When he was engaged to the Lessing theater by Eugen Klöpfer and appeared in several successful parts, he was spotted by director Fritz Lang and he was assigned to the movie "Spione" (1928). Gustl Stark-Gstettenbaur has already made first movie experiences with the movie "Der Piccolo vom Goldenen Löwen" (1928), directed by Carl Boese.
  • The transition to the sound film was no problem. He soon became established as an actor for comedies.
