Vincent Guastini is an Emmy-nominated special makeup effects artist, creature designer, and director with over three decades of experience in the film and television industry. He began his career by launching his own effects studio at the age of 22, first in New Jersey and New York, and later in Los Angeles, where he's been based for the past 20 years.
His big breakthrough came in 1991 when he was brought on to take over the prosthetic effects for Michael Mann's The Last of the Mohicans. From there, Guastini established himself as one of the most sought-after artists in the practical effects world, known for designing the iconic animatronic wings in Kevin Smith's Dogma, and for the haunting transformation of Ellen Burstyn in Darren Aronofsky's Requiem for a Dream, widely regarded as one of the most realistic prosthetic makeups in cinema history.
Guastini's other acclaimed work includes pioneering silicone burn effects in Letters from Iwo Jima, designing creatures for The Taking of Deborah Logan, and supervising gore and prosthetics on dozens of studio and independent films. His television credits include Saturday Night Live, where he earned an Emmy nomination and served as Will Ferrell's personal makeup artist.
As head of Vincent Guastini Productions (VGP), his work has appeared in films such as World War Z, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Man on the Moon, Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, Child's Play 3, Silent Night, The Dark Tapes, and many more. He's collaborated with directors including Clint Eastwood, Darren Aronofsky, Kevin Smith, James Gunn, Joe Dante, Michael Mann, and David Zucker, and has worked with some of Hollywood's biggest stars-from Sylvester Stallone to Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition to effects, Vincent has produced and directed multiple feature films, including Silent Night, The Employer, Rock Paper Dead, and the award-winning horror anthology The Dark Tapes, which holds a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Film Threat praised the film, giving it 8 out of 10 stars and calling it "effective, mysterious, and vibey millennial horror." His directorial debut, Beyond Human, and his next sci-fi horror film The Astronaut are both currently in development.
Vincent continues to champion the power of practical effects in a digital age, blending classic artistry with modern innovation to bring unforgettable visuals to life.
