- Julia de Gruyter was born on May 17, 1887 in Hemiksem, Belgium. She was an actress, known for De zaak M.P. (1960), Het witte paard (1958) and Mens durf te leven (1962). She was married to Dom de Gruyter. She died on March 18, 1969 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

- After the bombing of Antwerp in the first World War, she came to the Netherlands with her husband Dom de Gruyter, where she continued her career at Willem Royaards Theater.
- Julia de Gruyter made her debut as an actress after training at the Antwerp Conservatoire as Mary in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night".
- She played frequently on stage until 1935, and she also had her own company (Ensemble Julia de Gruyter, 1933/35). After that time she occupied herself almost exclusively with reciting Flemish literature; later also on television.
- She celebrated her 25th anniversary on stage with a program of lectures on October 24, 1939 in the Amsterdam Stadsschouwburg. On that occasion she was appointed Belgian Knight in the Order of Leopold.
