Look at him now: Nick Cave’s transforming. He’s vibrating. He’s glowing. He’s flying. Look at him now.
At Thursday night’s Bad Seeds concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Cave proved to a U.S. audience what Europe has known for decades: that he — rock’s gothic poet laureate, master of emotional intimacy, and, as a side hustle, introspective advice columnist — is indeed an arena rocker. He’s attempted that feat in the States before, staging a brilliant and occasionally heartrending concert at the same venue...

Radiohead are up to something new, but we don’t know what yet.
On March 10th, the beloved English band’s five members — Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O’Brien, Philip Selway, and Thom Yorke — all became partners of a new limited liability partnership (Llp) dubbed, “RHEUK25 Llp,” a move mirroring LLPs the band has made to support various endeavors in the past.
In 2021, Radiohead employed the Llp, “Spin With a Grin”, to help release the Kid A and Amnesiac reissue, Kid A Mnseia. Prior to that, they used LLPs to drop their 2016 album A Moon Shaped Pool, their 2011 album The King of Limbs, 2007’s In Rainbows, and more, including other undertakings, like tours.
So, even if we don’t know what it is, it’s safe to assume that Radiohead is up to something, which is pretty exciting considering the mixed signals the band’s members have given in the past regarding any future activity.

Nick Cave has revealed that he has contributed to a “trumpet record” being made by Flea, describing the collaboration as a “reconciliation and an apology” for his past comments about Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“Last week, Flea sent me a song and asked if I’d like to add some vocals,” Cave wrote in the latest Q&a on his Red Hands Files website. “It was for a ‘trumpet record’ that he is making. It is not for me to divulge what the song was, only that it is a song I cherish more than most, with arguably the greatest lyric ever written, a song of such esteem that I would never have dared to sing it had Flea not asked me to.”

Remember when, during the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone got into little hobbies like baking sourdough or gardening? Well, for gothic punk icon Nick Cave, his Covid escape was, as it turns out, hand-crafted Staffordshire-style ceramic sculptures.
Yes, as strange as it may seem — or may not seem, if you’re up to date with his vibe on the British royal family — Cave has a genuine, “not ironic” passion for making the Victorian Era figurines, and has refined the practice into quite the art form. In 2022, he unveiled a 17-piece series titled “The Devil — A Life,” which is now on display at the Museum Voorlinden in Wassenaar, Netherlands.

Nick Cave has reaffirmed his love for Kanye West’s music by revealing he wants the rapper’s song “I Am a God” to be played at his funeral.
In the latest Q&a on his Red Hands Files website, Cave responded to a pair of fan questions, one of which mentioned his selection of the 2013 Yeezus track on BBC’s Desert Island Discs. The other asked which song the artist wanted to be played at his funeral, which was an easy decision. “Please, ‘I Am a God’ by Kanye West,” he wrote.

Radiohead have had a spy in their midst for years. As his excellent new book, How to Disappear: A Portrait of Radiohead, reveals, bassist Colin Greenwood has been snapping candid, lovely photographs of his bandmates since the early 2000s — in the studio, in dressing rooms, and even, somehow, onstage during the middle of their concerts.
In the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, Greenwood — who just finished a tour playing bass with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds — talks about his book, looks back at highlights of his years in the band,...

Don’t ask Thom Yorke about a possible Radiohead reunion. Or if you do, expect the musician refuse to give you a real answer. The frontman spoke to Australia’s Double J, who suggested that Yorke’s “fertile” work on the Smile with guitarist Jonny Greenwood has led fans to assume there might be new Radiohead music coming.
“I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying fuck,” Yorke replied. “No offence to anyone and thanks for caring. But I think we’ve earned the right...

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is really loving his current job in The Smile, a side project composed of Yorke, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner. So much so, that when asked by Australian outlet Double J whether he’s paying attention to fans clamoring about Radiohead’s future, Yorke replied, “I am not aware of it and don’t really give a flying fuck.”
The Smile returned this month with Cutouts, the trio’s second album of 2024 and their third in three years. The band has been rather prolific in terms of their output, leading many Radiohead fans to believe that the beloved group would be put on indefinite hiatus so that Yorke and Greenwood could continue focusing on The Smile. This idea was cemented when Greenwood recently revealed that Radiohead had “no plans” for 2025, citing “lots of individual projects going on at the moment.

Jonny Greenwood has poured cold water on the notion of a Radiohead reunion next year, saying the band has “no plans” for 2025.
In a new interview with NME, Greenwood spoke about Radiohead reconvening for rehearsals over the summer, describing the sessions as “fun and natural.” When asked if he could “imagine” Radiohead releasing new music or playing live shows in 2025, Greenwood responded, “There are no plans — we’ve lots of individual projects going on at the moment.”

On a solo tour last year, Nick Cave suddenly became self-aware. He built his career performing with bands — the Birthday Party, Grinderman, the Bad Seeds — but here he was with only a piano and Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood supporting him. As they worked their way through nearly two dozen songs every night, Cave started thinking deeply about his songwriting.
“When I was singing these songs alone at the piano with just the bass — old songs, new songs, over 45 years of songwriting — they spoke their original intent,” he says, thoughtfully choosing his words on a call.

It’s been six years since Radiohead last performed a concert together, and with the band’s members busy with a variety of different side projects, a reunion doesn’t appear in the cards anytime soon. However, during a Q&a at the Hay Festival Querétaro on Sunday, bassist Colin Greenwood revealed that the members of Radiohead recently got together to play music.
“We did some rehearsals about two months ago in London, just to play the old songs,” Greenwood explained. “And it was really fun, had a really good time.”
Greenwood cautioned that the band has no formal plans on the books. “We’re still talking all the time, we just need to make a plan and get some time together sorted out in advance,” the musician continued.
For now, Greenwood will spend the next several months touring as member of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, filling in for bassist Martyn Casey.

Nick Cave has spent the last six years in conversation. Through his Red Hand Files Website and his touring Q&a series, the 66-year-old punk-rock icon has waxed poetic with his fans about grief, aging, and forgiveness. And after dropping the Bad Seeds’ last record, the devastating Ghosteen, in 2019, it seems he’s ready to talk about something that’s sadly rare in these times: joy.
On the band’s latest, Wild God Cave plays preacher, congregation, and god over the course of a suite of songs that are in equal measure elegiac and ecstatic.

When it comes to cultural clout, Radiohead might have a leg-up on Phish, but according to the band’s guitarist Ed O’Brien, that might not always be the best thing. According to a new interview with Trey Anastasio, O’Brien once told him that Phish’s audiences are more engaged during concerts than Radiohead’s.
The comments came in Anastasio’s new interview with Rolling Stone. “Ed O’Brien from Radiohead came to one of our shows, and gave me one of the greatest compliments in between sets,” Anastasio began. “He watched the show from the audience, and then he came backstage and he said, ‘I spent a lot of the night facing backwards. I was watching the last row of the arena, in the way back, all the way at the top. Every single person in the room was completely involved in the concert.’”

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have returned with “Frogs,” the second single from their upcoming album Wild God.
With rich, psychedelic instrumentation and Nick Cave’s signature booming tenor, “Frogs” is a passionate, climactic turn from the group. Helping raise the stakes is an extensive orchestra, which echo Cave’s consuming messages with fanfare and melodrama. Cave begins with a biblical reference to Cain and Abel, and later escalates to a freeing, revelatory high. “The frogs are jumping in the gutters/ Leaping to God, amazed of love,” he sings before crying “Amazed to be back in the water again.”
Of the song, Cave said in a statement, “The sheer exuberance of a song like ‘Frogs,’ it just puts a big fucking smile on my face.” Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis, “Frogs” follows Wild God’s title track, which we named as Song of the Week upon its release in early March.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced a new album called Wild God, which will arrive on August 30th. Today, the band shared the album’s title track and lead single.
Released via Bad Seed in partnership with Play It Again Sam, Wild God will span 10 tracks, each produced by Cave and Warren Ellis. In addition to the band’s lineup — consisting of Cave, Ellis, Thomas Wydler, Martyn Casey, Jim Sclavunos, and George Vjestica — Luis Almau and Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood made contributions to the album.
Speaking about Wild God in a new statement, Cave expressed a “hope [that] the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me.” Continuing, he explained: “It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious. There is never a master plan when we make a record.

Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien has given fans an update on his next solo album in a message that also calls for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
In an Instagram post, O’Brien thanked his “little community” of fans and explained that he had needed a break. “I’m deep into my next record, and deep in the process,” he wrote. “I will share some more soon … from music to influences to gear .. all of it… it’s been and continues to be a journey..Sending love and warmth from me and Ziggy.”
Earlier in the message, O’Brien apologized for not commenting on the heightened Gaza conflict earlier. “Like so many of you I have found the events of October 7 and what has followed too awful for words .. anything that I have tried to write feels so utterly inadequate,” he said. “Ceasefire now. Return the hostages.

Radiohead's album "Kid A" broke conventions and created something wholly unique, frustrating audiences at first but ultimately influencing the future of music. "Ok Computer" is considered one of the best albums of all time, showcasing Radiohead's ethereal textures and political lyrics. "The Bends" proved that there was more to explore in alternative rock and features some of Thom Yorke's best vocal work.

At the end of “Balcony Man,” Nick Cave’s ponderous and playful song about hope, romance, and grief, he sings, “What doesn’t kill you just makes you crazier.” The words are a wry twist on Friedrich Nietzsche’s famous aphorism — but Cave says they’re also an improvement upon it.
“I don’t think Nietzsche’s quote of ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ is remotely true,” he says. “It is bad, unhelpful information that suggests we are somehow weak if we succumb to our griefs. It lacks compassion.

Nick Cave has confirmed that he is in the studio finishing a new album with the Bad Seeds.
The musician shared the news in the latest post on his website, The Red Hand Files. “I’d like to let everyone know that I am now back in the studio finishing the new Bad Seeds record,” he wrote, before explaining that he would be taking a “few weeks” off from his website-managing duties to focus on record-making. The new album will mark the first release from the Bad Seeds since 2019’s Ghosteen.
Cave first confirmed the existence of the new project in January, replying to a question about his plans for 2023 by saying: “My plan for this year is to make a new record with the Bad Seeds. This is both good news and bad news. Good news because who doesn’t want a new Bad Seeds record? Bad news because...

Many characters depicted in South Park were voiced by the celebrities they parodied. The hilarious and edgy series has been one of the most consistent forms of satirical entertainment in television history. With 317 episodes across 26 seasons, the beloved comedy series has become a staple in American culture, acting as a benchmark in social commentary that has maintained its relevancy for over 25 years.
Despite the show's massive success, several South Park episodes are banned due to their offensive commentary. Some of the most memorable celebrity characters were voiced by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and other prominent figures. These include the singer Sia playing a fictionalized version of Lorde and Bill Hader as Alec Baldwin. Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney also had guest performances as Miss Stevens and Sparky, respectively. Here are 10 South Park celebrity guest appearances played by themselves.

We’ve learned a lot about Nick Cave recently thanks to the fan-sent questions he answers in his Red Hand Files newsletter. In its latest edition, the Bad Seeds musician responded to a batch of lumped-together submissions along the lines of: “Why the fuck are you going to the King’s coronation?”
Cave is a native of Australia, a Commonwealth nation, although he’s spent a good portion of his life in England. In his newsletter, Cave wrote: “I am not a monarchist, nor am I a royalist, nor am I an ardent republican for that matter; what I am also not is so spectacularly incurious about the world and the way it works, so ideologically captured, so damn grouchy, as to refuse an invitation to what will more than likely be the most important historical event in the UK of vour age. For 50 years, Pastor T.L. Barrett has delivered his sermons and gospel songs to his congregation in Chicago, but his musical impact has spread much farther. A sample of Barrett’s 1976 song “Father Stretch My Hands” laid the foundation for Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo tracks of the same name. The transcendent “Like a Ship” has featured in commercials, TV shows and the Oscar-nominated, Obamas-produced documentary Crip Camp, and most recently covered by Leon Bridges. His “Nobody Knows” has been sampled nearly 10 times in the past decade alone, including...

Ed O’Brien has been an under-appreciated but crucial part of Radiohead ever since the band formed in 1985. His contributions may not be as flashy as fellow guitarist Jonny Greenwood, but look to Thom Yorke’s immediate right at any live show and you’ll see him bashing the tambourine on “Reckoner,” echoing the haunting “rain down” refrain on “Paranoid Android,” or pounding away on a portable drum kit during “There There.”

Ed O’Brien dropped a psychedelic new track titled “Olympik,” the third single off the Radiohead guitarist’s upcoming solo debut Earth, out April 17th via Capitol Records.
The track meticulously shifts along a tight groove, courtesy of drummer Omar Hakim and Nathan East on bass. “Kaleidoscope will start to spin/Shaking up all the mess we’re in,” O’Brien sings. “Gonna shake it up, all the mess we’re in.”
“Olympik” follows the standout single “Shangri-La” and the instrumental “Brasil,” which he released with a nine-minute sci-fi film.

When Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood stepped into New York’s tiny Mercury Lounge in November 1994 to play an acoustic duo show, their band was known for a single song that they’d already grown weary of playing: “Creep.” They’d been on tour for two solid years in support of their debut LP, Pablo Honey, and by this point they had a handful of new tunes they planned to include on their next record.

Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien has released a nine-minute video for his song “Brasil,” which will appear on his debut solo LP some time in early 2020. The trippy film, directed by Andrew Donoho, shows people all over the globe uniting as one after some sort of extraterrestrial phenomenon touches down on the planet.
“H.P. Lovecraft, [Stanley] Kubrick, and Junji Ito have created some of my favorite sci-fi narratives,” O’Brien said in a statement. “But I’ve always wanted to reinterpret their horrific premises into a more poetic and optimistic notion.

Seven new musical legends joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Brooklyn on March 29: The Cure, Def Leppard, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies. That recorded 2019 ceremony is now airing on HBO tonight (April 27) and will continue to be available on the premium network’s on-demand listings for months to come.
Five of those artists performed at the event, but not Janet Jackson and Radiohead. She was reportedly upset over HBO airing “Leaving Neverland,” a hard-hitting documentary about her brother Michael Jackson, and backed out of singing that week (although she was there to accept the induction trophy). Several Radiohead members had indicated their apathy for the selection, so Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway were the only ones attending. Other recent inductees who refused to perform: Dire Straits (2018), N.W.A. (2016), Kiss (2014), Guns N’ Roses (2012), Genesis (2010), Abba (2010) and Madonna (2008).

When the news came out that Radiohead were entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, many fans thought they’d pull a Sex Pistols and simply not show up to the ceremony. “I don’t care,” guitarist Jonny Greenwood told Rolling Stone in 2017. “Maybe it’s a cultural thing that I really don’t understand.” Lead singer Thom Yorke felt the same way. “It wouldn’t be the first place,” he said, cutting himself off before finishing the sentence. “Don’t ask me things like that. Radiohead’s summer U.S. tour seems designed to prove a few self-evident truths. For one thing, In Rainbows remains their hands-down best album, though all votes for Kid A will be counted and “There There” is their peak song. For another thing: They’ve remembered how much fun it is to be the World’s Greatest Rock Band, to the point where their live show is a mad career-capping rush of exuberant energy. Their four-night run at New York’s Madison Square Garden last week was one for the ages.

Radiohead is probably the greatest band of the past two decades and I know music is subjective but everyone has at least one Radiohead song that they like. Radiohead’s sound is so broad and experimental yet somehow they’ve been a mainstay on the mainstream pop charts for well over a decade now. I realize it is an arduous task to rank their albums in terms of quality since each one sounds nothing like the one that came before yet still has a familiar sound. For the record I don’t believe they have a bad album in the bunch, every one is amazing in its own way. When I listen to a Radiohead record and I don’t like it I just think to myself “when will I like this record?” because I always end up loving their music no matter what era or album it was for the band.

Everything in its right place: Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood told BBC 6Music that his band will reconvene this year to record a new Radiohead album.
"We're taking some time out whilst people are doing some other stuff, doing their own things, and the plan is to get back together again [at the] end of the summer," Greenwood said whilst being extra British. This would be Radiohead's ninth album.
The "other stuff" Greenwood refers to likely includes lead singer Thom Yorke's side venture, Atoms for Peace. Yorke, producer Nigel Godrich and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea (of course) started playing together in 2009 under the moniker ??????; the band later became known as Atoms for Peace, and will release its first album on Feb. 25.
Greenwood's brother, Jonny Greenwood, has also been busy. The Radiohead guitarist is a popular composer, and he wrote the score for Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master."

In 2004, three bad brothers you know so well handed out 50 camcorders to fans at a sold out Beastie Boys concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Ad-Rock, McA, and Mike D told those fans to fight for their right for good camera angles and to keep the cameras rolling at all times. Two years later, the footage captured from the show was cut together and released as the concert film Awesome; I Fuckin’ Shot That! to mild critical acclaim. The major difference is Radiohead Roseland Ballroom NYC 2011-09-29 Full Show multi-cam Sbd audio came to be not from top-down instruction, but bottom-up organization and a fan culture reminiscent of Deadhead tape traders.
