  • The step-daughter of a German industrialist, she grew up in Switzerland, Germany and Holland. She was fluent in German, French, Italian and Portuguese.

  • Studied acting at the Studio 68 Drama School in London. In 1973 she appeared on the West End stage alongside Laurence Olivier, Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay in Eduardo de Filippo's 'Saturday, Sunday, Monday', directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
  • She was adept at playing the guitar and had an excellent singing voice.
  • Gregory and her two sisters attended boarding school at Moira House in Eastbourne, Sussex, before going on to finishing school in Italy.
