Image
Antoinette Jordan had a great birthday on The Price Is Right she won a car! But, announcer George Gray is just as much a part of the show as Carey and the models, despite not being on camera for the whole episode. His voice most certainly is. George Gray has been the announcer for the game show since 2011 and told TV Insider about his experiences in an exclusive interview. “My first episode that I taped was November 18, 2010, so I call that my anniversary date, even though the announcement wasn’t until 2011 so, I’m working on my fifteenth year now,” he said. He also opened up about how he got the job 15 years ago. “What had happened is the executive producer was somebody who he worked with my agent, and we were in the same agency, and we were friends, and we had started kind of working together...

‘The Price Is Right’: Air Force Veteran Wins Car After ‘Nailing’ Card Game
Image
A game on The Price Is Right came down to the proper use of the Ace card. A retired veteran won a car after he picked the right amount during a card game. Timothy, a 30-year retired veteran of the United States Air Force, won boxing gear, which included a heavyweight bag, a speed bag, a stand, two gloves, hand wraps, punching mitts, and a handbag when he bid $1,200. The gear cost $1,250, so Timothy was almost right on the money. He then came to the stage on Tuesday, June 10, to play Card Game for a 2025 Snow White Pearl Kia K-4 Lxs. “30 years, George. You better have something nice for him,” host Drew Carey said. Announcer George Gray told him that he would win a brand-new car. Model James O’Halloran “drove” the car from the curtain to the front of the stage where Drew Carey and Timothy stood in front of the game.

‘The Price Is Right’ Announcer George Gray Admits He Has This Real Problem With Contestants
Image
The Price Is Right’s George Gray always seems so smooth and perfect at his job. He has been the announcer on the show since 2011, calling out contestants’ names and urging them to “Come on down!” Now, in an exclusive interview with TV Insider, Gray admits he has a big secret: He’s always messing up contestants’ names, but most viewers at home would never know it. “If your name’s Andrea, [Ann dreea] I’ll call you Andrea [Awn drea]. If it’s Tara [Tare-a] I’ll call you Tara [Tar-a]. If your last name was Wojaho, I’ll call you Smith. It’s a train wreck,” he confessed. “I go out in front of the audience and do a little what we call warm-up for a couple moments before we start the show. The Price Is Right at Night officially wraps up its latest season on CBS with some impressive upgrades in terms of prizes for the contestants.

As a fan of the long-running game show, I’ve always enjoyed watching contestants try to outwit pricing games or use skills to defeat particular challenges to win.

The latter features an additional twist, which makes sense since a contestant can win more prizes than usual, so there’s absolutely no reason it shouldn’t be more difficult.

Drew Carey reveals change to The Price Is Right game as fans react
Image
Some viewers may have been recently surprised to see a popular game on The Price Is Right experience a change.

The decades-old game show, now hosted by Drew Carey, featured a contestant getting on stage to play Spelling Bee.

Often featured on The Price Is Right, the Spelling Bee involves choosing numbered cards from the gameboard. The back of each card usually has a letter, and contestants need to spell the word “Car” to win.

Some cards feature the whole word on the back, resulting in an instant win.

A contestant begins with two cards automatically and can win additional cards through a pricing game.

Announcer George Gray describes three items. If the contestant can determine the price of an item within $10, they win another card.

Contestant played Spelling Bee with a change

After the contestant initially met Drew on stage, George shared that he could win $25,000.

Drew Carey to appear in returning The Price Is Right segment with co-star ‘What’s his name’
Drew Carey
Drew Carey is carrying on a tradition the late, great Bob Barker started over 40 years ago.

Drew replaced Barker as the host of The Price Is Right in 2007 following Barker’s retirement.

Many fans who watched during the Barker era likely remember Barker encouraging everyone to “have your pet spayed or neutered” during his closing remarks on each episode.

Barker also started a Pet Adoption Week for the game show, which Drew participated in several years ago.

The game show is bringing back the segment, as Drew revealed alongside his co-star, whom he called “What’s his name.”

The Price Is Right star appeared in an exclusive clip with model James O’Halloran, who showed one of the adorable animals up for adoption.

Drew and James revealed Pet Adoption Week’s return

“Hi, we’re celebrating Pet Adopt Week this week at The Price Is Right,” Drew said in an exclusive clip via TV Insider.

Drew Carey shuts down The Price Is Right contestant’s request before incredible on-stage feat
Image
Drew Carey often assists contestants in playing games on The Price Is Right, but he won’t always gift them a win.

While the game show host’s mistake helped one contestant win earlier this season, he shut another one down who tried to make things easier.

The highlight occurred during a Tpir episode where a contestant tried to win a new car.

However, she was playing a game involving skills to determine item prices and some putting ability on the green.

With Hole in One, contestants attempt to arrange grocery and household items from least to most expensive across a fake golf putting green.

The more items a contestant correctly arranges in a row, the closer the contestant attempts their putt from to make a hole in one and win a car.

The Price Is Right host Drew Carey reprimands contestant after big win
Drew Carey
Drew Carey called out a contestant’s earlier remarks after a big win occurred on The Price Is Right.

Thankfully, the win was enough to help the contestant overcome any previous disappointment while on the show.

As Tpir host, Drew is always full of jokes, sometimes making playful jabs at his co-stars or contestants.

After a contestant finished playing the Dice Game, Drew landed one of those funny jabs.

The game involves a contestant trying to determine the last four digits of a new car’s price by rolling the dice.

Unless the number a contestant rolled matches that digit in the car’s price, the contestant must decide if the digit is “higher or lower” than the number they rolled.

A contestant on The Price Is Right celebrated enthusiastically, even inviting others to join her on the stage during the show.

The game board features 10 spots marked by “$$$” and the contestant tries to stop the game when the price revealed on the game board is higher than the actual price of the car.

“I’m looking for the one number on this board that is just over the price of the Mazda Cx-30,” Drew told her.

A man from Beaufort, South Carolina, finally got his dream of getting called down on The Price is Right after being in the audience of the game show 17 times. City Councilman Neil Lipsitz got called to “come on down!” on the Monday, March 24, episode. As announcer George Gray called his name, the camera panned around the audience but couldn’t find him. Eventually, he showed up on screen as the camera panned back to the other contestants at the podium. Lipsitz waved his arms in the air and clutched his chest as he took his spot at the podium. “Neil!” host Drew Carey said. “Where were you?” Lipstiz threw his arms up and explained that he had fallen on the floor, even though his fall was edited out of the episode.

Other spots feature cash, and two feature dreaded “Lose Everything” cards, which contestants must avoid.

There’s also some pricing knowledge. Contestants get one free guess. They can earn additional guesses for the gameboard by identifying which of two grocery items needs an extra dollar added to its display price.
