As of 2016, has appeared in four films that were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Rain Man (1988), Little Miss Sunshine (2006), No Country for Old Men (2007) and The Artist (2011). With the exception of Little Miss Sunshine (2006), the other three are winners in the category.

She is the great, great niece, by marriage, of Joel Chandler Harris, who wrote the Uncle Remus Tales on which Disney's Mélodie du sud (1946) was based.

When she was a little girl, she wanted to be a veterinarian and a movie star. Her sister-in-law is Dr. Mary Grant, a veterinarian for the state of North Carolina.

Beth has a brother named Bubba who lives in North Carolina and is a graduate of ECU, Beth's Alma Mater.
