9-1-1 Moves to Another State With New Spinoff Officially Ordered at ABC
Image
The hit series 9-1-1: Lone Star recently came to an end, but the franchise will be moving forward with another spinoff series to fill the empty void that's created. This time, the show will be focusing on emergency responders working in Tennessee.

Per Deadline, it's been revealed that a new show, 9-1-1: Nashville, is coming to ABC for the 2025-26 season. It was previously reported that a new 9-1-1 offshoot was in development, though details weren't confirmed about its location. Currently, no information is known about the plot of the new series beyond its setting in Nashville, and no cast members have been announced. It can be presumed that a team of first responders will be at the heart of the story.

Ryan Murphy's '9-1-1' and 'Doctor Odyssey' to Air Crossover Episode
Image
Say what you want about Ryan Murphy, but he always seems to be thinking about the best way to make his television empire thrive. Before today, there was no indication that his popular procedural series 9-1-1 and his newest endeavor, Doctor Odyssey, shared a universe, but that's all set to change as the worlds of his two ABC series are about to collide.

Per Variety, 9-1-1 and Doctor Odyssey will cross over in a special episode of the latter that will see Angela Bassett's character, Athena Grant from 9-1-1, head over to the cruise ship on Doctor Odyssey led by Joshua Jackson's Dr. Max Bankman. Doctor Odyssey focuses on a different themed cruise in each episode, and this particular crossover event will take place during Casino Week on the ship, which will see Bassett's Athena suspecting two passengers of trying to Ocean's 11 the ship's vault.

‘9-1-1’ Star Aisha Hinds Says Hen’s ‘Bubbling Desperation’ Led to Episode 4 Twist Ending
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 4.

“9-1-1” went through a season’s worth of story with its latest episode, including some big moments fueled by the “bubbling desperation” of beloved firefighter Henrietta “Hen” Wilson.

Episode 4, titled “No Place Like Home,” picked up the narrative threads of the ABC first responder drama’s Season 7 finale — which took a backseat to the high-stakes Season 8 premiere Bee-Nado/plane emergency — checking in on Hen’s (Aisha Hinds) custody fight for foster daughter Mara, as well as the 118 being led by captain Vincent Gerrard (Brian Thompson) after Bobby (Peter Krause) mistakenly quit. This week’s episode saw as the firehouse faced budget cuts and potential closure, as Hen fought to bring how councilwoman Olivia Ortiz’s (Veronica Falcón) personal vendetta against her was at the root of all the issues in both her life and that of her teammates.

Katie Cassidy and Stephen Huszar Find Love On Screen and Off with A Royal Christmas Crush
Katie Cassidy
Fans believe in the magic of Hallmark programming. It's feel-good, heartwarming entertainment that often reminds you of the beauty in this world.

It's also one of the few options available if you're looking for a little old-fashioned romance. It's the on-screen counterpart of Harlequin Romance novels, which bypass sex for love.

Hallmark movies give us hope that we, too, will find a soul willing to see the best of us while accepting our faults.

Katie Cassidy and Stephen Huszar star in A Royal Christmas Crush, premiering this Saturday on Hallmark Channel. Hunky royals are a modern-day fantasy in the Hallmark universe, and Katie's Ava Jensen and Stephen's Prince Henry fall madly in love.

As it turns out, so did the costars, as Katie and Stephen announced recently they were, in fact, a couple.

Looking at their photos, you can see they're a beautiful match. Seeing them on screen together hints...

Holiday Movies Coming to Television in 2020
Image
Christmas might not be until December, but some networks are slapping on their mittens and gearing up for the holiday season as early as October.

Families often find themselves gathered around the TV binging some of Hallmark or Lifetime’s latest Christmas-themed films, and this year is no exception. With people around the country encouraged to stay indoors and avoid crowded locations, Variety breaks down a list of feel-good Christmas movies to tune into this year.

As part of Lifetime’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” holiday movie slate, the channel will premiere 30 original TV movies beginning Oct. 23 and running through mid-December. In its efforts to diversify the stories it showcases, Lifetime said it worked with GLAAD and Cape (Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment) for its first-ever LGBTQ-led film “The Christmas Setup” and “A Sugar & Spice Holiday” centering on an Asian American family.

More films will be added to the list as networks announce them.

The 20 Best-Directed TV Drama Series of the 21st Century, Ranked
Alan Taylor
TV has never been more beautiful, more daring, and more dramatic, and that’s owed to the new level of talent being given a chance to redefine what might be possible within this medium today. Since the dawn of the 21st century, we’ve witnessed an incredible array of directors (some native to TV, some fleeing the fluctuating feature film world) come to episodic storytelling to discover its potential.

Read More: The 25 Best TV Theme Songs of the 21st Century, Ranked

True story: We began this list with a wider range of genres in mind, but the number of shows we wanted to recognize grew so large that we decided to split it into drama and comedy series (we’ll get to comedies down the line). This is also the ritual place where we acknowledge that “The Sopranos,” if it had premiered just a little bit later, would have...

American Horror Story season 6: Roanoke Chapter 4 review
Ron Hogan Oct 10, 2016

It's becoming clear that everything is connected in the American Horror Story universe...

This review contains spoilers.

It's been promised that this season is the season in which the connective threads start getting drawn together, unifying American Horror Story's first run with all those that followed, turning the show from a connection of shared-universe stories to a series in true form. We've seen things begin already—Pepper's presence in Asylum and Freak Show, Billie Dean Howard shows up to exorcise Tate in Murder House and reappears in Hotel as a reality-show host, and now it appears that Roanoke has connections to both Freak Show, Hotel, and, perhaps, Murder House.

A very popular fan theory is that the talking head segments being filmed for some sort of reality show aren't just your standard basic cable ghost story, but actually an episode of Billie Dean Howard's psychic medium show,...
