The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal completes a year today (December 1). The movie was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. However, it was marred by several controversies wherein many sections of the audience labeled it as misogynistic, problematic and promoting alleged violence, abuse and sexist behavior against women. Some audiences were also irked with the portrayal of Rashmika Mandanna’s character Geetanjali in the film.

She played Ranbir’s wife in the film who was seen undergoing a tumultuous marriage with him. Her character tolerated some comments, actions and behavior of her husband which disgusted many fans back then. However, did you know that Rashmika herself questioned some actions of her character in the film.

Last year post the release of Animal, Rashmika Mandanna had shared some BTS pictures from the sets of the film.

Image
Actress Rashmika Mandanna, whose recent release ‘Animal’ starring Ranbir Kapoor in titular role is roaring at the box-office, has penned a long note on her social media describing her character of Gitanjali from the film.

While the film has been performing exceptionally well in theatres, it has also drawn flak for its misogynistic themes and the portrayal of its women, who have very less to do in the film which is essentially high on the testosterone.

While Rashmika said that certain actions of her character are questionable, she paid an ode to the character as she highlighted the importance of her character in the film.

Taking to her Instagram, the actress shared a few pictures from the film as she wrote in the caption, “Gitanjali. If I were to describe her in a sentence …it would be the only force at home holding her family together. She is pure, real,...

‘Animal’ Movie Review | Ranbir & Action Redefined
Image
With a runtime of 3 hours and 23 minutes, Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ is one of the very few films so lenghty. Animal is Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s only third film after Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. It presents a clear filmmaking style of Sandeep Reddy with intensity, aggression, passion & brutal action being the mainstay. This film proves that an actor is as good as the director wants him to be and a film is as good as the directors vision on the narrative. ‘Animal’ will become a benchmark for Ranbir and the storytellers will change their perspective about how to utilise this talent. A lover boy is now a ‘man’.

‘Animal’ revolves around the complex relationship of a business magnate Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor) with his son Ranvijay Singh aka Vijay (Ranbir Kapoor). For Ranvijay his father is the best but unfortunately seldom gets to spend time with him. Ranbir...

The Stone Roses: Made of Stone Review
There is simply no better way to spend 49 minutes of your time, than to sit down and listen to the eponymous début album by The Stone Roses, as a record that is one of the finest to have ever been recorded. Well now, though double the length in time, the immensely talented director Shane Meadows has made a worthy attempt at presenting a film equally as inspiring, with his documentary Made of Stone. The soundtrack is alright, too.

Having taken the world by storm when bursting onto the scene in 1989, Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield and Alan ‘Reni’ Wren became one of the most influential bands to have existed, with a strong cult-like following amongst their ardent fans. However when the band broke up in 1996, it appeared that they would never reform, with telling signs coming from Squire and his now infamous quote “I have no desire whatsoever...

The Stone Roses Review, Heaton Park: This Is The One
The date is 18th October 2011. The time is 3:08pm and this particular music fan is frantically tapping away at a keyboard hoping to find information on the biggest music announcement of this, and possibly any other, decade. A posted link on a little known music blog takes me to a live feed of a press conference inside the function room of the London Soho Hotel. I had been hoping for this day for most of my adult life – a day that, on several occasions during this time, looked as though it might never happen. And then it appears on the screen, as quick as you like: the image the world wanted to see. Gary ‘Mani’ Mountfield, Alan ‘Reni’ Wren, Ian Brown and John Squire, sat side by side together, in the same room looking extremely happy and ready to take on the world again.

The Stone Roses were back.
