Trivia

  • Location shooting for the 1929 MGM movie "The Flying Fleet" included filming on the USS Langley, and while there Sumner Getchell decided that for a laugh he would try a funny fall on the ship's gangplank, but he really slipped and sprained his ankle. His scenes were still able to be filmed, but from the waist up, hiding his bandaged foot.
  • Chubby American character player who started as a child actor in San Francisco at the Alcazar Theatre.
