From panic to perfection: How Lalo Schifrin created the iconic ‘Mission: Impossible’ theme
Image
Lalo Schifrin, the legendary Argentine-American composer best known for creating the iconic "Theme From Mission: Impossible," died Thursday at the age of 93.

In 1966, Bruce Geller, the creator of the Mission: Impossible TV series, tasked Schifrin with a simple, yet daunting directive: "Make something exciting." Despite having little time and no script to work with, Schifrin composed the now-famous piece, originally titled "Burning Fuse," in just minutes. Influenced by his jazz background, the theme’s distinctive 5/4 time signature — rumored but never confirmed to be inspired by Morse code for the letters "M" (dash-dash) and "I" (dot-dot) — gave it its unique tension and swing.

“It was a bit of a production panic because they were so late with their deadlines,” Schifrin said in a 2018 interview with The Independent. “I didn’t have a clue what the television show was at first. I had never been to a TV shoot.”

Lalo Schifrin, Legendary Composer Behind Iconic 'Mission: Impossible' Theme, Dead at 93
Image
Lalo Schifrin, the legendary composer best known for writing the iconic Mission: Impossible theme and various popular film scores, has died. According to Variety, the Grammy winner died on Thursday, June 26, of complications from pneumonia. The Argentine pianist and composer was a trailblazer, becoming one of the first to blend a wide range of musical sounds into both television and film scores that ranged from many genres, including rock and jazz. Schifrin's notable credits include composing music for Bullitt (1968), The Amityville Horror(1979), Here's Lucy (1971), The Beverly Hillbillies (1993), Money Talks (1997), the Rush Hour film series (1998-2007), and hundreds more. He was 93.

His Mission: Impossible work came as a result of praise from previous projects. In fact, the composer had no idea what the Mission: Impossible production was about before getting invited onto the set by producer Bruce Geller. During an interview with SoundTrack Fest, he said that he was invited...

Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
Lalo Schifrin, the composer behind the iconc Mission: Impossible theme, is dead at 93
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
The Mission: Impossible theme is one of the most iconic (and hummable) pieces of cinematic music. Sadly, it’s been announced that the man behind the classic tune, Lalo Schifrin, is dead. He was 93.

Schifrin told the New York Post in 2015 that it took him just three minutes to create the Mission: Impossible theme, and he did it without seeing any footage from the show. “Orchestration’s not the problem for me. It’s like writing a letter. When you write a letter, you don’t have to think what grammar or what syntaxes you’re going to use, you just write a letter. And that’s the way it came,” Schifrin said. “Bruce Geller, who was the producer of the series, put together the pilot and came to me and said, ‘I want you to write something exciting, something that when people are in the living room and go...

Lalo Schifrin, Acclaimed Composer of ‘Mission: Impossible’ and ‘Mannix’ Themes, Dies at 93
Image
Lalo Schifrin, the six-time Oscar-nominated composer, pianist and conductor renowned for his electric, jazz-infused themes and music for Mission: Impossible, Mannix, Starsky & Hutch and Bullitt, died Thursday. He was 93.

Schifrin, who received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards in November 2018, died of pneumonia at a hospital in Los Angeles, his son Ryan Schifrin told The Hollywood Reporter. He lived for the past few decades in a Beverly Hills home once owned by Groucho Marx.

A native of Argentina whose father was the Buenos Aires Philharmonic concert master for more than three decades, Schifrin was trained in the world of classical music before being hooked on American jazz when he was a teenager.

He artfully blended the two genres, and the combustible energy and rhythmic vitality of his compositions were especially well-suited for action-suspense movies and TV shows.

The workaholic Schifrin received Oscar nominations for his scores for Cool Hand Luke...

Lalo Schifrin, Prolific Film Composer Who Wrote ‘Mission: Impossible’ Theme, Dies at 93
Image
Lalo Schifrin, the Grammy-winning composer of “Mission: Impossible” and film scores including “Cool Hand Luke,” “Dirty Harry” and “Bullitt,” died Thursday of complications from pneumonia. He was 93.

The Argentine musician was among the first to apply a broad range of musical ideas to film and TV scores, from jazz and rock to more modern and complex techniques of orchestral writing. His heyday was the 1960s and ’70s, when he produced several film and TV scores that are now regarded as classics.

In November 2018, Schifrin became only the third composer in the history of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences to receive an honorary Oscar. Clint Eastwood, for whom Schifrin composed eight scores, made the presentation “in recognition of his unique musical style, compositional integrity and influential contributions to the art of film scoring.”

Actress Kathy Bates said at the event: “His work cannot be easily labeled. Is what he creates jazz?...

Gene Roddenberry’s Writing Credits for One Show Even Surpasses Star Trek
Image
Before creating Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry worked on a number of shows, but he wrote the most for a Western called Have Gun – Will Travel. In fact, while Roddenberry served as a showrunner for his legendary series, he only wrote fifteen episodes across three seasons, while for Have Gun – Will Travel, he wrote 24 episodes across six seasons.

Roddenberry had worked on Westerns before, after transitioning to a writing career from being a soldier and later a policeman. The writer was known for his adamant vision on his series and had frequently butted heads with studio executives as well as writers over his rules and guidelines for Star Trek. However, the show’s roots can be vaguely found in his previous works.

Why [Spoiler] Had to Die in Mission: Impossible 8: 'It Was a Sacrifice'
Image
Mission: Impossible franchise director Christopher McQuarrie has finally opened up about their decision to kill off one of the franchise’s legacy characters in the newest entry, The Final Reckoning. McQuarrie has been part of the blockbuster action franchise since 2015, beginning with Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, which remains as one of its highest-rated installments.

During a recent interview with Empire, McQuarrie explained why the death of Ving Rhames’ long-time character Luther had to happen in Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. He revealed that the beloved character’s death was crucial to the latest installment’s story since its theme was all about sacrifice. The filmmaker confirmed that Rhames was very supportive of the decision because it allowed his character to have an emotional and proper send-off.

“The story was about sacrifice. The sacrifice in [Dead Reckoning], the movie had no teeth without it, without some loss. It was a sacrifice Ving leaned fully into,...

Mission Impossible’s almost impossible future mission
Image
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in theory brings the franchise to a close. Some spoiler-filled thoughts on what next.

With the long-running Mission Impossible franchise reaching a climactic end, we ponder how impossible the next mission to find a new lease of life might be. Careful of spoilers within about Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, or Tom Cruise might throw you out of a plane…

That’s it then. The end of a cinematic era as Tom Cruise’s super agent and almost certainly certifiable Ethan Hunt asks us to trust him one last time in Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning to save the world and… well, spoilers, but you probably won’t be too surprised to learn that he does.

Yet the last of his impossible missions, half of which he has powered through alongside Christopher McQuarrie behind the camera , really is billed as the last. No longer the...

Will There Be ‘Mission: Impossible 9’? Here’s What We Know
Image
It was way back in 1996 that the first Mission: Impossible film was released, introducing us to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, the Impossible Mission Force agent who seems to save the world from Armageddon at the last second, quite literally.

For nearly three decades, the franchise has captivated audiences with its high-octane action, intricate espionage plots, and Cruise’s death-defying stunts as the indomitable Hunt. The film series has come a long way since its debut, evolving into a stylish adaptation of the 1960s TV show. It has grossed more than 4 billion dollars at the global box office (via The Numbers) and redefined the modern action genre as a whole.

With the release of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on May 23, 2025, many have been left wondering if this would really be Ethan Hunt’s swan song. Originally conceived as the second part of a two-part finale, this eighth installment...

Everyone Loves ‘Fallout’ but the 1 ‘Mission: Impossible’ Movie That Truly Saved Tom Cruise Deserves More Credit
Image
Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible film series has been amusing viewers for almost three decades now, based on the original titular TV series from 1966, created by Bruce Geller. Though there have been quite a few commendable installments released to date, the fifth movie, Fallout, is widely regarded as the most critically acclaimed one to date.

That respective 2018 flick, of course, deserves that recognition. But there’s one other movie from the saga that merits even more credit, especially for saving Cruise as well as his franchise when his other movies were pretty much underperforming at the box office. This movie was none other than his 94% rated masterpiece from 2011, Ghost Protocol.

Dick Van Dyke Had to Fight for His Sitcom’s Edgiest Episode
Image
While The Dick Van Dyke Show is remembered as an all-time classic sitcom, few would describe its comedy as “edgy.” But a few of the show’s plot lines did break new ground. “Carl (Reiner) was excellent at pushing the boundaries in subtle ways, like acknowledging that Rob and Laura were intimate, as husbands and wives are, or allowing others to venture into new and dicey territory,” Van Dyke wrote in his memoir, My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business.

New and dicey? Those modifiers applied to one episode in particular, and “we fought the network tooth and nail,” Van Dyke recently told People. “They just didn’t want us to do it.”

Bill Persky and Sam Denoff penned the script for “That’s My Boy,” a flashback episode in which Rob and Laura reminisce about the day their son Ritchie was born. Misdelivered flowers at the hospital give...

What You Need to Remember Before Watching ‘Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning’
Image
Tom Cruise is back, and boy, is he back with a banger. After 25 long years, his run in the Mission: Impossible franchise might well be coming to an end, but the last film is far from a disappointment, as the early reviews are saying.

As Ethan Hunt, Cruise has become the face of a series that redefined the action genre, delivering iconic moments like the Burj Khalifa climb, the famous driving the bike off the cliff stunt, and the Halo jump. Now, Mission: Impossible – Final Reckoning, the eighth and reportedly the last film for Cruise, promises to close Ethan Hunt’s saga with a bang.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film picks up right after 2023’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and introduces new stakes, including a daring underwater mission. Filled with complex characters, a formidable world-ending threat, and the emotional weight of a potential farewell to Ethan Hunt,...

Breaking Baz: Paula Wagner On Why Tom Cruise Remains A Shining Star, Her Part In The ‘Mission: Impossible’ Franchise, A New Film About John Fogerty & Creedence, And The Art Of Teaching Disruption
Image
Exclusive: Paula Wagner, the onetime budding actress-turned-superagent-turned studio owner in partnership with Tom Cruise, who helped produce the first three Mission: Impossible movies, was asked a question several years ago by students at DePaul University in Chicago that she was amply qualified to answer: What is a star?

A star, Wagner explained that day, “lights up the sky and gives heat and light and energy, and then they burn out.”

Greta Garbo, she observed, “retired at 30.”

Where does Wagner place Cruise, I ask, just as Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning was having its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Trailer Brings Every Movie Together (And Gives Ethan Hunt An Aircraft Carrier)
Image
Is there a more apt name for a franchise than "Mission: Impossible?" While there are numerous film properties that are (impressively) still going after nearly 30 years or more, there are far fewer that've maintained a consistent level of overall quality during that period, let alone kept a single star at the helm with each installment. This longevity can be chalked up to several factors: the template set by the original Bruce Geller 1966-1973 TV series, the various directors who've been invited to play in the films' sandbox, and most of all, the tenacity of Tom Cruise, who's proven his dedication to the franchise time and again, demonstrating his craft and risking his life with each successive entry.

Up until recently, however, the "Mission: Impossible" films have enjoyed a rather loose continuity, with a one-shot structure not only mimicking the original TV show but also best serving the revolving door of...

‘The Residence’ Showrunner on That Killer Reveal, Who Was Almost the Culprit and Where the Murder Mystery Could Go Next
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the season one finale of Netflix’s The Residence.]

Sometimes it only takes a blink to tell a detective everything — or at least it does for Uzo Aduba’s Cordelia Cupp and Randall Park’s Edwin Park in the finale of Netflix’s The Residence.

Throughout the eight-episode Netflix series, the murder mystery is maintained until the very end, as the audience eagerly waited to learn who killed White House chief usher A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito). Though red herrings and multiple suspects appeared to be at fault for the murder — including housekeeper Elsyie Chayle (Julieth Restrepo), engineer Bruce Geller (Mel Rodriguez) and even the rising White House assistant usher Jasmine (Susan Kelechi Watson) — the actual killer was revealed in the season finale to be (spoiler alert!) Lilly Schumacher (Molly Griggs), the White House Social Secretary.

While taking her likely suspects on a tour of the events of the murder, Aduba’s Cordelia assessed the...

‘The Residence’ Creator on Casting Al Franken (but Not Hugh Jackman!), a Possible Season 2 and Losing Andre Braugher: ‘We All Loved Him and He Loved the Show’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This interview contains major spoilers from “The Residence,” now streaming on Netflix.

Before writing a single word of Netflix’s latest murder mystery “The Residence,” creator Paul William Davies knew exactly who the killer and the victim would be.

Over the course of eight episodes, the new screwball whodunit series — inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s non-fiction book “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House” — unraveled the mystery surrounding the demise of White House Chief Usher A.B. Wynter on the night of an Australian state dinner at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

After conducting a whirlwind investigation on the night of the murder, during which she interviewed 157 suspects and potential witnesses to the crime and its attempted cover-up, Detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) returns to the White House, where she gives all of her remaining persons of interest a tour of the house while explaining the many...

‘The Residence’ Ending Explained: Who Is the Killer?
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers for “The Residence” Episode 8.

“The Residence” followed as ace detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) put together the seemingly endless thread of clues for the murder of White House chief usher A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito).

Episode 1 saw as Cordelia ruled out the death being a suicide, after quickly realizing that A.B.’s wrists had been cut, but there was no knife. She also deduced that he had been moved into the Game Room, where the body had been found. Through the six episodes, Cordelia and FBI agent Edwin Park (Randall Park) worked together to interview the many staffers and guests at the White House to find the killer — as a Senate Committee assembled months after the death also looked into the facts of the controversial case.

By Episode 8, Cordelia met with the Senate Committee for the first time to tell her side of the story,...

Who Killed Ab in The Residence? The Finale Ending Explained by Cast and Creator
Image
The Residencemaintains its murder mystery until the very end. As all the major players settle into the Yellow Oval Room, there are still multiple suspects in the murder of A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito): the dubious “third man” Patrick Doumbe (Timothy Hornor), engineer Bruce Geller (Mel Rodriguez), and housekeeper Elsyie Chayle (Julieth Restrepo) all seem to be likely candidates.

But, the true culprit is someone else entirely. Lead detective Cordelia Cupp (Uzo Aduba) reveals the killer is Lilly Schumacher (Molly Griggs), the White House social secretary. The woman who hated the White House murdered the person who most embodied its values. Griggs was thrilled to “push the boundaries” with Lilly.

“Getting to crawl into Lilly’s demented head was really fun,” the actor says. “It was really satisfying to make her as kooky as possible. Then it’s actually quite scary when you see how calculated she can be...

How Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation Pays Homage To The Original Series' Pilot Episode
Image
The "Mission: Impossible" movie franchise has been going on for close to 30 years now, and with the seven films in the property soon to become eight at the time of writing (with the release of this summer's "The Final Reckoning"), there's more than enough to catch up on prior to May. When it comes to "Mission: Impossible" rankings and recaps, you hardly ever see a key entry being included at all: the original TV series that kicked off the entire thing (in its normal episodic or even movie-length form). That series ran for a whopping seven seasons and 171 episodes from 1966-1973, and that's not even counting the revival series from 1988, which lasted 2 seasons on its own. Clearly, there are a ton of impossible missions that precede the film series, so why aren't they discussed very often?

The uninformed answer is that the films have no connection to the TV series,...

Netflix has debuted the full official trailer for the screwball comedy whodunnit series ‘The Residence.’

The movie is a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and backstairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.

Uzo Aduba stars as Cordelia Cupp, a consulting detective for the Metropolitan Police Department. Known for her wry humour, relentless pursuit of truth, and sharp eye for human behaviour, Cupp is the most sought-after detective in the world—and an avid birder to boot.

Joining her is Randall Park as Special Agent Edwin Park of the FBI, who is tasked with partnering with Cupp during a high-stakes State Dinner. While Park harbours scepticism about Cupp’s unconventional methods, their dynamic promises to be as intriguing as the mystery they seek to unravel.

Created by Paul William Davies, the cast also includes Giancarlo Esposito (A.B. Wynter), Edwina Findley...

‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’ Teaser: Everything Tom Cruise Has Done Amounts to This
Image
It’s been a turbulent flight getting here, but we’ve finally got the trailer for “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” (fka “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two” and colloquially known as “Mission: Impossible 8”). Thank goodness Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) can still sprint.

In “M:i 8,” Hunt needs his team to trust him “one last time.“

In the trailer, which is shown in ultra wide format, we see Hunt — as one has come to expect — running very fast. It also features footage of the sunken submarine that kicks off the events of “Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning,” as well as a callback to the first film that even many who haven’t seen it are more than likely familiar with. As previously teased, the big stunt for this entry will involve Cruise hanging outside of a functioning 1930s biplane, shots of which are also seen in the teaser.

How Lucille Ball Saved the ‘Mission: Impossible’ Franchise
Image
We’re just a few months away from the release of Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, which is supposedly the last installment in the film series that began as a spy thriller about stealing floppy discs, then somehow morphed into Tom Cruise’s big budget take on Jackass.

But we would have never gotten any joy out of seeing Cruise routinely endanger his life for our amusement if not for the actions of one of the most famous comedic performers of all-time: Lucille Ball.

Ball’s production company Desilu produced a number of famous TV shows, including Star Trek and the original Mission: Impossible series. And Ball didn’t simply greenlight the pitch and walk away either. As one of the show’s stars, Barbara Bain, revealed in an interview, Lucy had the “final word on the casting.”

Bain had to meet with Ball after others became “concerned” about...

10 Movie Franchises That Bounced Back After A Disappointing Second Film
Image
One of the most consistent trends for franchises is the disappointing sequel to the first movie. Of course, there are movie franchises where each successive movie is better than its predecessor, but that's considerably rarer. However, a less consistent trend is the worst movie sequels of all time being followed by better third movies that allow franchises to bounce back. Some of these terrible sequels surprisingly don't kill their franchises, buoyed by a better follow-up that revitalized people's faith and interest in the series.

Movie franchises that rebounded after a disappointing sequel often have a pattern in the creative choices. The disappointing sequel usually fails to live up to the standards of the original because creators are trying to recapture the magic of the original film by treating the first movie as a blueprint. The third movie on which the franchise's future hinges is often where people take the biggest risks,...

‘Mission: Impossible 8’ Finally Gets a Title — and a Teaser Trailer
Image
Good things come to those who wait, and we’ve been waiting a long, long time for “Mission: Impossible 8” to get a title. Well, we got that and more on Monday. (Ethan Hunt is an Army alum — Happy Veterans Day to all!) If you need a catch up on the previous films, here’s IndieWire’s ranking of the “Mission: Impossible” movies.

In the new film’s teaser trailer, Hunt (Tom Cruise) can be seen sprinting through a variety of landscapes and hardscapes — you simply do not mess with the Cruise formula. At one point, Hunt is running after an airplane that he presumably catches. At another he’s knife-fighting in his underwear; if you weren’t already reminded, from him rappelling into the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony, Tom Cruise is in his 60s.

“Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning” will be released in theaters on May 23, 2025. As the teaser trailer,...

Image
The title for Tom Cruise’s eighth “Mission: Impossible” movie has finally been revealed, along with the first trailer.

“The Final Reckoning” is now the official title for “Mission: Impossible 8,” which was originally slated to be the “Part Two” to 2023’s “Dead Reckoning.” It’s scheduled to be released on May 23, 2025. The film originally was set for 2022, but was delayed multiple times by the pandemic and SAG-AFTRA actors strike.

Cruise revealed the title and a poster Monday morning, along with the caption “Every choice has led to this.”

In the action-packed trailer, Cruise scuba dives and explores a wrecked submarine, flies and falls out of a biplane and does a lot of running. Angela Bassett is also revealed to be back as CIA Director Erika Sloane, after she first appeared in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

Every Henry Cavill Movie That's Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, Ranked
Image
There's nothing more impressive than a spotless filmography, and while directors and producers have huge amounts of control over the artistic products they create, the same can't be said about every person that makes up the cast and crew. Actors, in particular, can't carry a film all alone and, therefore, can't be blamed if the final product is less than adequate. An actor can put forth an Oscar-worthy performance every time they step on screen, but it doesn't matter if the rest of the film isn't at the same level of quality.

Even though he is one of the premier stars of his generation, Henry Cavill has struggled to attach himself to critically acclaimed projects despite brilliant performances. It's unclear who is at fault in this situation. Some fans point the finger at his agent or the directors of the critically panned films, while others put the blame directly on Cavill.

Image
Mission: Impossibles final entry, the sequel to Dead Reckoning, has had a very costly production with a budget of nearly $400 million. This makes it the most expensive entry in the franchise by well over $100 million. The 2023 Hollywood strikes contributed to the ballooning budget.

This news comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter. The sequel is due to see Tom Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt for another epic adventure. The plot is expected to follow the previous film and have Hunt and his team find and defeat the A.I. called Entity. However, plot details have not yet been officially revealed.

Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 8 Could Be One of the Most Expensive Movie Ever
Image
Paramount Pictures has a lot riding on Mission: Impossible 8, which reportedly will be one of the most expensive movies ever made. Mission: Impossible 8 has had a long road to the big screen. Filming began in March 2022, and despite being over a year ahead of the start, the film was halted due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in July 2023. Production then resumed in March 2024 but faced more delays due to a malfunction with a submarine. After nearly two years in production, the budget for Misson: Impossible 8 was always going to be high, but just how high could spell disaster for Tom Cruise's latest mission.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Mission: Impossible 8 production budget is approaching $400 million. While no exact number was given, if the budget is $400 million, that would make Mission: Impossible 8 the fourth most expensive movie ever behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($447 million), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom...

It is one of the most popular franchises that Tom has led. They have grossed around $4.09 billion worldwide. Unfortunately, Mi 7, released in 2023, had an underwhelming performance at the box office. It suffered because of the films Barbie and Oppenheimer. They overshadowed every film, even Cruise’s Biggie. Tom Cruise is in Denial Over Getting Older and Could Be Risking His Life Because of It
Image
It wont come as too big a surprise to some, but Tom Cruise is now being accused of having a crazy invincibility complex. Its true that the 62-year-old actor exquisitely continues to do his own stunts, as the Hollywood A-lister was clearly spotted performing some wicked aerial work back in July, while shooting next summers highly anticipated Mission: Impossible 8.

However, an unnamed source has voiced their opinion in the press and is worried that Cruise isnt taking into account his age, to say nothing of all the variables that could go wrong during those jaw-dropping daredevil stunts the Oscar nominee continues to mesmerize audiences with. The film source told RadarOnline:

Toms got this crazy invincibility complex and truly believes hes a superior human being wholl be able to pull off these stunts well into his senior years. The reality is theres always the chance something could go horribly wrong.

Tom Cruise's Shocking Olympics Paycheck Happened for One Reason
Image
Tom Cruises appearance at the 2024 Olympics closing ceremony became one of the big talking points of the event, with the actor making a special and dramatic appearance to collect the Olympic flag and deliver it to its next destination of Los Angeles. While the production, which included pre-recorded footage of Cruise leaving Paris by plane and skydiving down to the Hollywood sign, seemed like the kind of big budget stunt that the actors Mission: Impossible movies have become known for, Cruise himself has a surprising pay packet for his appearance. Absolutely nothing.

While Cruise has been known as one of the highest paid actors in the business, it seems that he had one simple condition to do the whole thing for free he wanted to do his own stunts. This is hardly surprising considering the actors history of throwing himself off buildings, mountains, out of planes, and fighting on top of moving vehicles.
