Michael Gelbart is a screenwriter, producer, comedian and host. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, later moving to Toronto while in his teens. He started doing stand-up comedy in high school and continued while attending Seneca College's School Of Communication Arts, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism, graduating with high honors.

Shortly after, Michael landed his own 30-minute prime time special, Comics!, for CBC television and a second special, Comedy Now, for CTV/The Comedy Network. Both were rebroadcast on Comedy Central. His writing career began with the Canadian Screen Awards (then known as the Geminis) eventually becoming head writer. This lead to writing dozens of episodes of series for Disney, Teen Nick, Cartoon Network, CBC, Nickelodeon, and Starz, as well being creative consultant for full seasons of many series, and in and one case, playing a fictional version of himself as lead guest character.

As a screenwriter, he has written multiple features and pilots, many of which have been optioned. He wrote and co-starred in the holiday movie A Very Cool Christmas, which aired on Lifetime for years before moving to streaming.

Michael's comedy career continued with appearances on CBS' The Late Late Show, Comics Unleashed, and the release of a new special Michael Gelbart All New Smash Hits, streaming on Prime, Tubi and other platforms.

His novel The Other Oprahs was a Canadian best seller and was adapted to the pilot script. He has released three comedy albums Hello Comedy Lovers, 14 Smash Hits, and By Popular Demand, featured heavily on Sirius XM.

With an eye toward producing, Michael has several screenplays and series of distinct genres in development.
