  • Father of actress Marina Genschow (1950-2000) and writer and producer Gabriel Genschow (1952-2007).
  • German stage and screen actor, director and producer. Performed theatrically from 1924, chiefly in Berlin where he went on to establish the Kinder-Theater in 1930. Regularly in films from the late 20's, he was usually seen in secondary roles as soldiers, sea captains, forest rangers or police officers. After World War II, he became a celebrated broadcaster of children's radio with RIAS in Berlin.
  • He became a demanded support actor in the 30's and took part in many well-known productions.
  • In 1947 he became director of Zehlendorfer Freilichtbühne am Waldsee , later Genschow - Stobrawa Theatre . After the death Of Renée Strobawa he founded the Brothers Grimm Theatre .
  • Fritz Genschow continued his career in the 50's as an actor as well as a director, producer and writer of fairytale movies.
  • As a screenwriter , director and actor Genschow adapted the fairytale Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf (1937 ) to the National Socialist ideology .
  • In 1930 he founded with actress Renée Stobrawa his own theater , the Children's Theater Berlin .
  • His illegitimate daughter Heidi Genée was also active in the film industry and learned from him the film crafts.
  • After the Second World War Genschow mainly worked as a director and screenwriter, and became acquainted with many fairy tale films . He took over the production of his own films and also appeared as an actor .
  • As " Uncle Tobias " , a storyteller , he worked for the American Broadcast RIAS Berlin.
  • In 1963 he was awarded the Brothers Grimm Prize .
