As General Hospital (Gh) fans continue to mourn the loss of Johnny Wactor (ex-Brando Corbin), who tragically lost his life just over a year ago, the actor’s last project debuted this week.

The movie, “Ciao, Mama”, was shown during an indie film festival in California, ‘Dances with Films’ at Hollywood’s Tcl Chinese Theatre. Among those in attendance was Gh star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos).

Ron Hale is the latest General Hospital star to pass away. From 1995 until 2010, he played Mike Corbin, Sonny (Maurice Benard), and Courtney’s (Alicia Leigh Willis) father.

He was an ABC soap vet through and through. Ron was on Ryan’s Hope for its entire run before moving to General Hospital and appearing on the spin-off half-hour series Port Charles.

Despite playing Mike Corbin for nearly two decades, he wasn’t the final actor to play the role. Max Gail stepped into the role in 2018 and played Mike until General Hospital wrote his death.

His death was announced via an online obituary, revealing Ron passed away on August 27 at 78. Details about his passing weren’t made public, and he is survived by his nieces and nephews.

Ron Hale, who starred as Roger Coleridge during the entire 14-year run of Ryan’s Hope and had an even longer stretch as Mike Corbin on another ABC soap opera, General Hospital, has died. He was 78.

Hale, who lived in St. George, South Carolina, died Aug. 27, his family announced.

Hale worked on Ryan’s Hope from 1975-89 and received supporting actor Daytime Emmys in 1979 and ’80. "Barney Miller" may not be one of the most talked-about sitcoms of the '70s these days, but perhaps it should be. The NYPD-set show was in some ways the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" of its time, a socially conscious, funny series that set its action squarely in the precinct where members of the public came to ask the authorities for help -- or get arrested by them.

Ella was an enjoyable character, mature beyond her years and on a mission to gain closure. Maybe even more mature than Magnum some days.

Ella was smart enough to trick Higgins into taking the case in the first place. She paid a guy 20 to stand in for her father on the phone.

It was easy to embrace Ella, who attempted to close her Hpd detective mother's last case, a triple homicide.

This case is undoubtedly weightier than Magnum and Higgins usually take on intentionally. Because when things get heavy, it's time to bring in Katsumoto.

The Daytime Emmys aren’t over yet. Three days after awarding some of its top categories during a pre-taped ceremony on CBS, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has now announced the nominees for the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Children’s & Animation and Lifestyle categories.

The remainder of the year’s Daytime Emmys will be celebrated in two live-streamed events on July 17 (children’s and animated programming) and July 18 (lifestyle). As part of an agreement between the East Coast-based NATAS and the West Coast-based Television Academy, effective this year all children’s programming is now the domain of the Daytime Emmys.

Nominees and winners at the Daytime Emmys were selected in a single round of voting by panels ranging from 10 to 50 members. Those panels scored every submission in their respective categories instead of ranking them against each other in order of preference.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences handed out the awards for this year’s broadcast portion of the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards this Friday evening on CBS. Among the big winners: “Kelly Clarkson Show” won for best entertainment talk show, while Kelly Clarkson won for entertainment talk host. “General Hospital” was named top daytime drama, as well as lead drama actor (Maurice Benard), supporting actor (Max Gail), directing team for a drama, technical team for a drama and casting for a drama.

Meanwhile, “Jeopardy!” once again picked up award for best game show, while the late Alex Trebek won another Emmy for game show host. Executive producer Mike Richards dedicated the game show award to Trebek, while Trebek’s children accepted the host’s award on his behalf.

“The Talk” co-host Sheryl Underwood returned for her fifth time hosting the Daytime Emmy Awards, which honored the best programming airing between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. — along with select digital and syndicated shows.

“General Hospital” won the award for Outstanding Drama Series, while Kelly Clarkson won for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

Daytime TV legends Regis Philbin, Alex Trebek and Larry King received posthumous tributes during the primetime ceremony, which aired Friday night at 8 p.m. Et on CBS and Paramount+.

Nominations for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were unveiled Tuesday, and it's another clean sweep for ABC's General Hospital.

The hit daytime soap opera netted 17 total nominations.

Days of Our Lives managed seven nominations, while The Young and The Restless and The Bold and Beautiful netted five each.

Late Jeopardy! host, Alex Trebek, also got a posthumous nomination.

Trebek has won this particular prize seven times already.

The daytime Emmy awards are set to air Friday, June 25 on CBS, and will also be available to watch on Paramount+.

Nominations for the 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday, and ABC’s General Hospital dominated the soap opera pack with 21 total nods.

NBC’s Days of Our Lives and CBS’ The Young and the Restless trailed with 11 nominations each, followed by The Bold and the Beautiful (with nine).

Also of note, the late Alex Trebek earned a posthumous nomination for Outstanding Game Show Host, for what would be his farewell run on Jeopardy.

The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday, May 25. But this year’s awards are a little different from last year’s. These nominations are for soap operas, talk shows, game shows, and other genres that will be presented during a CBS telecast one month from today on June 25. Then on June 28 nominations will be announced in other fields including children’s, animated, and lifestyle programming, with those winners to be revealed during online streaming ceremonies on July 17-18. The voting process for the Daytime Emmys differs significantly from their prime time counterparts. The nominees were selected by panels that ranged from 10 to 50 members who reviewed every submission in the category. The panelists scored those submissions individually instead of ranking them in order of preference. The highest scorers were the ones who made the cut as nominees.

As has become the norm, ABC didn't announce if General Hospital had been renewed for another year but the show wasn't cancelled either. They just kept it on the air. Will General Hospital survive to see a 58th season for the 2020-21 broadcast season? How will it do in the ratings? Stay tuned.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards at a grand gala held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, Southern California.

“The National Academy is pleased to be honoring the men and women who make Daytime television one of the staples of the entertainment industry,” said Terry O’Reilly, Chairman, NATAS.
