“A comic isn’t just a bunch of pictures”: Eiichiro Oda Faced His Fair Share of Troubles Before Erecting a $21 Billion One Piece Empire
Image
At the very beginning of this journey, it was near impossible for anyone to foresee that One Piece would actually end up being a world-class phenomenon. When Eiichiro Oda first came up with his concept of the heroic adventures of a silly rubber boy and his crew, this seemed a rather simple story plot.

But the success of this franchise continued to grow later on, and it seemed there was no limit to the extent of its popularity.

But as the saying goes, the harder you have to fight for something, the more priceless it will become once you achieve it. So naturally the great success of One Piece surely had to see a load of troubles, controversies, and creative battles that tested the wit of its creator, the almighty Oda!

Establishing The One Piece Empire Was Indeed a Very Challenging...

‘T P Bon’ Season 2 Ending Explained & Episodes (1-12) Summary: Did Bon Rescue Ream?
Image
Back in May of 2024, Netflix dropped the animated adaptation of Fujiko Fujio’s manga series, Time Patrol Bon (or T.P. Bon), and over the course of 12 episodes, the show took us on a journey through the history of humanity with Bon, Ream, and Buyoyon. Now, about a month later, Netflix has quietly released the second season of the show. And by “quietly,” I mean there wasn’t any press release or even a trailer for Time Patrol Bon Season 2—just one line on the Netflix page stating that a new season was on its way. Given the quality of the show’s animation, I am certain that Masahiro Ando and his team didn’t animate 12 more episodes in the span of a month. They probably made 24 episodes and released them in the form of two seasons. This is quite unethical, in my opinion, because it’s an ugly way of...

Time Patrol Bon Manga and Anime History Behind the Netflix Series Explained
Image
Time travel anime like Time Patrol Bon offer imaginative explorations of temporal paradoxes and ethical dilemmas in entertaining ways. The legacy of Time Patrol Bon, like Doctor Who in England, spans generations and genres, captivating audiences with its rich history. The diverse cast of characters in Time Patrol Bon, led by Bon, Ream, and Buyoyon, offers a mix of humor, heroism, and moral complexity.

Like time itself, the time travel subgenre is elastic, with a wide range of stories across mediums, from Hg Wells novels to sci-fi drama movies like Minority Report. Anime and manga are no exception, with titles like Erased and Re:Zero, similarly demonstrating the wide range of tones and stories that can be told on time travels backdrop.

Before Tp Bon graced screens by way of Netflix, it had already carved out a significant legacy in anime and manga. Like Doctor Who in England, Time Patrol Bon...

‘T P Bon’ Ending Explained: Can We Expect A Doraemon Crossover In Season 2?
Image
Like most 90s kids, if you have grown up enjoying the adventures of Doraemon and have taken a liking to the wonderful, imaginative, and futuristic worldview showcased in the series, there is a strong chance that you will love Netflix’s latest anime release, T P Bon. Created by the same creative genius duo, Fujiko Fujio, T P Bon not only bears similarities with Doraemon through the common Kodomo art style implemented in their visuals but also through their approach to disguise heavy themes through the bright, colorful lens of children’s fiction. With T P Bon, the treatment veers towards a more mature tone, as time travel shenanigans work as a scrutinizing mechanism, which raises tough-to-answer questions regarding human morality, virtues, and vices.

A second season of T P Bon had already been greenlit before the completion of the first season of the series, and given the fact that...

‘T P Bon’ Recap (Episodes 1-12): Did Bon And Ream Finally Return To Their Timeline?
Image
The world of modern fictional literature will forever remain indebted to the legendary mangaka team of Fujiko Fujio, as with timeless creations like Doraemon, Perman, Obake no Q-Taro, and many other classics in their creative oeuvre, the duo can be truly termed as giants who shouldered the responsibility of revolutionizing the manga scene for four decades. The most intriguing part of their popular works was that, despite the fact that they were primarily aimed at children, they had a subtle yet intense dark depth in them formed through philosophical questioning—something that is no easy feat given the restrictions of said genre. The same can be said about the recently released animated adaptation of Time Patrol Bon, which perfectly captures the apparent lighthearted nature of the source manga while highlighting the nuances that give the series a grim undertone.

To take on the competition posed by anime streaming services like Crunchyroll and others,...

“Normal work didn’t appeal me”: Death Note Creator Changed Their Entire Career Out of Desperate Need for Survival
Image
In the world of anime, there are childhood classics like Pokémon, Dragon Ball, and Naruto, and then there’s Death Note. Ever since the anime premiered in 2006, it solidified its status as a cultural icon, earning itself the honorable Animation of the Year award in 2007. The series stands apart from the other series in the Shonen genre because it does not rely on fast-paced action sequences to keep its audience hooked. Instead, it features a tug-of-war psychological warfare between Light Yagami and L.

Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba

Death Note is probably the most renowned work by Tsugumi Ohba, as the manga series was always a step ahead, forcing its reader to give their complete attention, or else they’ll lose the thread that weaves the story together. However, the manga would have never existed if Ohba hadn’t decided to alter their career, purely to survive.

Death Note’s...

New Netflix Anime Puts a Dark Twist on a Cult Classic Cartoon Network Show
Image
T•P Bon is a darker, more mature take on the premise of an underrated Cartoon Network series, called Time Squad. T•P Bon is based on an original manga that predated Time Squad by about 25 years. The first season of T•P Bon will premiere on Netflix on May 2nd.

One of Cartoon Network's cult classic forgotten series is getting a dark spin in a new Netflix anime. Cartoon Network has produced some of the most iconic shows for kids since the network launched in the 1990s. However, one of its most overlooked series was Time Squad, a show that followed a boy named Otto, a robot named Larry and a hero named Buck as they traveled through time and met major figures in world history to solve various problems. While the series gained a cult following, Time Squad came and went without much fanfare. However, its interesting premise...

The Best Anime Soundtracks To Listen To While Studying
Image
Some anime soundtracks are perfect to listen to while studying because their mellow instrumentals and soothing themes promote focus. Doraemon's extensive soundtrack and movies offer diverse songs perfect for studying. "Stand By Me 2" has standout tracks for study sessions. Chihayafuru's soundtrack, resembling a quiet autumn, features high-tension instrumentals and light opening and ending themes.

The best anime soundtracks to listen to while studying will provide a variety of vibes, from creating zone-in rhythms to soothing instrumentals. Furthermore, the comprehensive soundtracks will provide songs that are fit for all types of study, as different students work best under different situations, such as one who can’t focus when listening to lyrics, or one who thrives with upbeat tempos.

For the most part, slow, mellow, but focused music is what works best for students. When considering which series or studios fit this model best, one name comes to the forefront: Studio Ghibli.
