- J.L. was a member of "The Associated Producers," a group of independent producers who worked for a high ideal in motion pictures. Other members of this group included King Vidor, Allan Dwan, Thomas Ince, George Loane Tucker and Mack Sennett. Frothingham died at Balboa Park in San Diego, California, where he had been judging a dog show.
