Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen Selling Dozens of Guitars on Reverb
Image
Rancid singer-guitarist Lars Frederiksen is selling off dozens of guitars with the launch of his official Reverb Shop on September 25th.

Frederiksen and Reverb made the announcement on Wednesday (September 18th) and previewed the shop’s initial stock, which includes a plethora of axes used by Frederiksen in the studio and onstage with Rancid and his solo projects through the years.

“Over the years, I’ve acquired a lot of different types of guitars, some basses, and a lot of other cool stuff,” Frederiksen told Reverb. “I’ve used it all in some way, whether it’s been on stage or in the studio, but it’s been sitting and collecting dust. So I’ve teamed up with Reverb to get some of this gear into the hands of people who will play it.”

One of the crown jewels — and perhaps the most recognizable axe in the collection — is the...

‘The After Dark’ Review (Tubi)
Image
Stars: Lars Frederiksen, David Heath, Ashley Ballou, Sinn Bodhi, Danny Saxton | Written by Josh Cornell, Lola Devlin | Directed by Tom Devlin

The After Dark is the latest film from Tom Devlin, the director of Teddy Told Me To, Slaughterhouse on the Hill, and Las Vegas Frankenstein. This time around, he’s turned his attention to a staple of the horror genre, vampires. The film opens with Volsung, played by Lars Frederiksen of the band Rancid, telling us about the two clans of vampires living in Los Vegas, The Vanished and The Lobos. The Vanished are a traditional group, led by Vigo. Vigo is played by David Heath, who you may recognize from his time in with the WWE as the vampiric Gangrel.

Their newest member, Beth has already caught Vigo’s attention, but she’s having a hard time adjusting to life among the undead, let alone the thought of him touching her.

Rancid’s 1992 Self-Titled Debut EP Available Digitally for First-Time Ever: Stream
Image
Rancid’s self-titled debut EP from 1992 has been released on digital streaming services for the first-time ever.

The original EP was released exclusively on 7-inch vinyl back in 1992 on Lookout! Records, predating Rancid’s heyday on Epitaph.

Get Rancid Tickets Here

The debut became a sought-after slab of wax, as it introduced one of the greatest punk acts to emerge in the 1990s. The EP was reissued on 7-inch in 2012, but this marks the first time these five songs have been officially released digitally and follows the recent digital release of the band’s B Sides and C Sides compilation.

Singer-guitarist Tim Armstrong and bassist Matt Freeman (ex-Operation Ivy) formed Rancid in 1991 following their stint in Operation Ivy. The band was initially rounded out by drummer Brett Reed.

Rancid laid down the EP’s five songs mere months after the band’s inception. From there, the band released a storied...

Rancid Unleash New Song “Devil in Disguise” Ahead of Upcoming Album: Stream
Image
Punk veterans Rancid have dropped “Devil in Disguise,” the latest single from their forthcoming album, Tomorrow Never Comes, out June 2nd via Epitaph.

The new song, which follows the album’s title track released last month, features galloping drums and a sing-along chorus in which Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen team up for the refrain: “Beware who’s around you hiding in plain sight / Beware who’s around you in the broad daylight.” And in typical Rancid style, the track clocks in at bite-sized punk duration of two minutes.

Tomorrow Never Comes marks the band’s first album in six years, following 2017’s Trouble Maker. The new LP was once again produced by Epitaph Records owner and Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz.

Prior to the LP drop next Friday, Rancid are set to headline the Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival in Las Vegas this Sunday (May 28th).

The band will...

10 New Career Options For Cm Punk
WWE.com

As we’ve all heard by now, The Best in the World, Cm Punk is officially gone from WWE, his contract has expired and according to the man himself we shouldn’t expect to see him in a wrestling ring ever again. That’s right, Never. Punk’s recent run and frustrations with the WWE has apparently left a bad taste in his mouth from an industry standpoint and it seems he’s moved on, although he may be forced to face Vince McMahon again sooner than he’d like if stories of a WWE lawsuit are true.

Regardless of how you feel about Cm Punk this is a massive shame, you can’t deny his talent in the ring, on the microphone and even on commentary. He really was one of the best in the business over the past decade, from his stint in the independents and...

The Other F Word Doc to Get Fictional Adaptation with Jason Segel
Aside from the disappointing performance of The Five-Year Engagement, it's been a pretty quiet year for Jason Segel, who seems to be taking a breather after pouring all of his blood, sweat and tears into The Muppets. He will also appear in Judd Apatow's This is 40 in December, but aside from that there has not been much immediately on the horizon for him. This week, however, 20th Century Fox has picked up a project that he is setting up with the help of screenwriter Drew Pearce (No Heroics). The movie is a fictionalized adaptation of the documentary The Other "F" Word, which revolves around punk rock musicians becoming fathers. Segel is currently attached to star... we can only hope Paul Rudd will show up to "slappa da bass" as well. According to Variety, Fox acquired the pitch in a "competitive situation", which may or may not mean there was a bidding war involved.

The Other F Word (2011)
Jason Segel to Turn The Other F Word Into a Feature Comedy
The Other F Word (2011)
Jason Segel is set to turn the 2011 documentary The Other F Word into a feature comedy for 20th Century Fox, selling the pitch alongside co-writer and executive producer Drew Pearce.

Andrea Blaugrund directed the original documentary, which followed a group of aging punk rockers as they transitioned into parenthood. Jason Segel will star as one such dad. And while the documentary featured plenty of high profile rockers, including Art Alexakis, Flea, and Lars Frederiksen, it is unclear if they will return for cameos, but it is very likely.

There is no production start date set for The Other F Word's comedy adaptation.

The Other F Word was released November 2nd, 2011 and stars Tony Adolescent, Art Alexakis, Rob Chaos, Chris De Wolfe, Joe Escalante, Flea, Lars Frederiksen, Josh Freese. The film is directed by Andrea Blaugrund.

Tim Armstrong Interview Tim Timebomb’S Rocknroll Theater
After 25 years of making music and hundreds of videos, iconic musician and Grammy Award-winning producer Tim Armstrong has created Tim Timebomb’s RockNRoll Theater (www.rocknrolltheater.tv), exclusively for Vevo. Inspired by his enjoyment of making music with his friends, it is an original web series with songs and stories based on his love of horror films and classic anthology TV shows, with a little bit of The Rocky Horror Picture Show thrown in. The seven-part first episode stars Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen and AFI frontman Davey Havok in a 21st Century take on the 14th Century epic poem Dante’s Inferno, with a new take on greed and corporate corruption, and with Armstrong narrating, much like a punk rock Rod Serling. The story is fun, the music is memorable, the visuals are totally cool, and it’s just a total blast to watch. During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider,...

New Trailer For Punk-Rock Documentary The Other F Word With Blink 182, Rhcp, Pennywise, Tony Hawk, And Many More Greats
An absolutely fantastic trailer has just come out from Oscilloscope Laboratories, the rising distribution company set up by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, for the latest film they’re putting out, The Other F Word.

The documentary is set to be a brilliant look at the new roles that some of punk-rock’s biggest heroes have taken up after wearing that other f word, Fatherhood, like a badge of honour.

“This revealing and touching film asks what happens when a generation’s ultimate anti-authoritarians — punk rockers — become society’s ultimate authorities — dads. With a large chorus of punk rock’s leading men – Blink-182′s Mark Hoppus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath – The Other F Word follows Jim Lindberg, a 20-year veteran of the skate punk band Pennywise, on his hysterical and moving journey from belting his band’s anthem “F–k Authority,” to embracing...

Punk Rock Grows Up In ‘The Other F Word’ Trailer
I’ve never understood the phenomenon of tattoos and always pondered how those covering their body with them would feel a decade or two later. That question and more is tackled in the punk rockers-turned-fathers documentary The Other F Word. Director Andrea Blaugrund Nevins follows around such rockers as Blink-182′s Mark Hoppus, Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea and Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath as they make the transition from stage to nursery. We saw it at SXSW and you can read our positive review here with the new trailer below.

[SXSW Review] The Other F-Word
Watching Generation X turn 40, facing the consequences of a drop-out lifestyle lies a contradiction. How to you keep your edge while putting food on the table for your family? In your heyday, when it was just you, there were no bills, mortgage, dresses for the father-daughter dance, homeowner association fees, medical bills, etc. There was booze, cheap hotel rooms and rock-n-roll.

The problem with the punk ethos is a fear of selling out – which, having a family may require such a change. If you are going to raise your children in a middle class suburb, you have to tour. And tour these guys do – often spending over 100 nights of the year on the road

Academy award winning documentarian Andrea Blaugrund follows several famous punk rockers – “father” and “family” are “other F-Words.. The style of the documentary is electric, opening with Against Me!’s “I was a Teenage Anarchist” (looking for...

The Other F Word (2010)
Directed by: Andrea Blaugrund

Written by: Andrea Blaugrund

While I claim to be a tomboy and up until the age of 22 or so I couldn't imagine having babies (I was scared to even hold one lest I drop it), lately my ovaries have been crying out every time I see a tiny pair of shoes. Thus, when I saw the synopsis for The Other F Word at SXSW, I knew it was a documentary I Had to see; it's a narrative following various iconic punk rock musicians around as they discuss the responsibilities and life-changing aspects of going from anarchist role models to daddies.

The film is directed and written by Andrea Blaugrund, a strong female who rocked a leather jacket and motorcycle boots at the premiere. She is obviously in love with counterculture, and had been friends with Jim Lindberg of Pennywise for a long time. She was made...

Rancid preps first album in six years
Green Day isn't the only Bay Area punk outfit to make a big announcement this week. After six years of hibernation, Tim Armstrong (no relation to Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, of course), Lars Frederiksen and what have to be some of the quickest fingers in the world on a bass fretboard, Matt Freeman, are returning with a new album on June 2, Let the Dominoes Fall.

Pink and Kristanna At It Again
Singer Pink proved her attraction to Kristanna Loken was more than just a one night stand when she was again spotted getting cozy with the leggy blonde. The stunning pair were snapped sharing lusty dance floor kisses at a party in Monte Carlo on Saturday night, and the next night they continued their antics at exclusive nightclub Jimmy'z. The "Get The Party Started" rock chick and the Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines stunner again got cozy on the dance floor, sharing an intimate moment as they gazed into each other's eyes. A fellow clubber says, "They barely came up for air this time. They were rubbing against each other and hands were everywhere. Pink went mad when she spotted a photographer and dragged Kristanna into a dark corner for a bit of privacy, but it wasn't long before they were in full view of everyone again." Pink, who recently split from long-time love Corey Hart, is said to be dating Rancid rocker Lars Frederiksen.
