Edit
  • Fred Foy was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.
  • Before he was heard on the television show, Foy was the announcer/narrator for ABC Radio's "The Lone Ranger" (1948-1954). He read the famous opening for the show (probably the most famous for American radio): A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi-Yo Silver!" The Lone Ranger. "Hi-Yo Silver, away!" With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains, led the fight for law and order in the early western United States. Nowhere in the pages of history has there been a greater champion of justice. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. The Lone Ranger rides again!".
  • Announcer for ABC Radio's "Theater Five" (1964-1965).
  • He was the ABC Television Network's principal voice during the sixties and seventies, remembered especially as the announcer for The Dick Cavett Show.
  • Father of Nancy Foy.
  • Survived by his wife, the former Frances Bingham; daughters Nancy Foy, Wendy Foy Griffis and son Fritz Foy; and three grandchildren, Justin Cutietta, Hannah d'Angerio, and Nathaniel Foy.
