When Fire Country returns next fall, fans will have something extra to look forward to. The already highly anticipated spin-off series Sheriff Country will start the expansion of the franchise, with Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) in the lead. During a recent interview, the star talked a bit about the starting point of the new series and her approach to Mickey Fox, a character that we've already met a couple of times in the mothership series Fire Country.
During the interview with TV Insider, Baccarin talked about the set-up of Sheriff Country. Since she will be a police officer in a small town, she's bound to have to deal with the crimes of people she's known her whole life. In that scenario, it will be interesting to see how Mickey is able to navigate each case and find the best resolution for it. She stated:

For various reasons, CBS decided to hold the Matthew Gray Gubler-led series, Einstein, for the 2026-2027 TV season. The show had already cast two series regulars, but production will need to go back to the casting room to look for another actor to play Detective Maddie Paris. Deadline reports that Rosa Salazar, who was to play the character, has exited the project after the delay was announced. Salazar's departure frees her from her contractual obligations, allowing her to pursue other projects that might be of interest. The decision to end her relationship with CBS Studios, as far as Einstein is concerned, was mutual and amicable. If she had stayed on, she'd have been forced to wait until next year when the show resumes production, given that hiring for writing staff had been paused following the delay announcement.

There’s been so much chatter about the future of Fire Country after some significant departures that I forgot Sheriff Country was gearing up for its launch during the 2025-26 season.
All we knew about the spinoff was that Morena Baccarin would be at the wheel in the role of Mickey Fox.
We already met Mickey on Fire Country, with the mothership series revealing she is Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone’s stepsister.
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)
It was a compelling way to connect these two universes, but beyond that, there were many questions about who else would be on Sheriff Country.
Now, we have our answer. Deadline reports that CSI: Vegas veteran Matt Lauria has scored a series regular role in the upcoming offshoot.

CSI: Vegas vet Matt Lauria is getting a badge for his next role: The actor will star opposite Morena Baccarin in the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, our sister site Deadline reports.
Lauria’s Boone is the smart and capable chief deputy and right-hand man to Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox. After being partnered for years, the pair have a great shorthand and deep respect for each other. But there is also a note of tension between them because Boone feels that he was passed over for the sheriff position.

Fire Country is making some extreme moves. Not only did the franchise shock fans by writing two main characters off the show during the season 3 finale, but it has continued to add compelling stars to its upcoming spinoff, Sheriff Country.
Sheriff Country is a spinoff that will be led by previously established character Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin). The closer we've gotten to the show's 2025-26 premiere, however, the more impressive the list of actors involved has grown. The latest addition is Matt Lauria, who is confirmed to be playing the male lead of Sheriff Country opposite Fox.

The upcoming Sheriff Country series is building out its ensemble with a procedural veteran. A new report from Variety reveals that CSI: Vegas veteran Matt Lauria has joined the cast of Sheriff Country, the Fire Country spin-off series led by Deadpool veteran Morena Baccarin. This news comes not long after it was announced that Christopher Graham and Michelle Weaver will also star in the series, which will follow Mickey Fox (Baccarin), a straight-shooting sheriff who investigates criminal activity in the small town of Edgewater while also dealing with her ex-con father (W. Earl Brown). Mickey is the stepsister of Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) and the aunt of Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot), who will also work as a writer and director on the series.
Lauria can be seen in 41 episodes of CSI: Vegas as Josh Folsom, but he’s also been in plenty of other projects you might be familiar with.

CBS got lethal with cutting some favorite shows, but there are some renewals and even some new spinoffs coming. Read on to find out more about them.
The Cancellations Are Upsetting
People grow up watching their favorite series and shows, so cancellations are nearly always met with disapproval. However, amid six cancellations, there is at least some hope for TV addicts. The shocker was the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T. from Universal TV studios.
Others reported were Blue Bloods, Poppa’s House, and The Summit. Probably nobody will miss The Summit too much as it only ran for one season. However, Variety noted that there were some popular renewals.
Renewals & Spinoffs
The greenlit shows on CBS for the 2025-2026 season include:
NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Tracker, George & Mandie’s First Marriage, Hollywood Squares, Elsabeth, Fire Country, and Ghosts.
Two new spinoffs arrive, and one of them stars Donnie Wahlberg.

Fire Country has continued its red hot ascent up the ratings on CBS, and now, its eyes are set on a spinoff. Sheriff Country, which is set to follow characters introduced in the main series, is set to air during the 2025-26 season. We've already met Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), but Sheriff Country recently added faces that will be brand new to the franchise.
Christopher Gorham has been cast as Travis, the ex-husband of Mickey Fox. The two share a child together, a daughter named Skye, and remain forces in each others lives, which can sometimes lead to complicated feelings. Travis and Mickey are split up, but it doesn't mean the possibility of romance is completely off the table.

As the highly anticipated spin-off series Sheriff Country starts to take shape at CBS, new names start getting added to the slate of main stars. Today, the network announced through Deadline two pretty big newcomers that will help elevate the story of the new procedural series: Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver have joined the show as series regulars. The spin-off is yet to get a release date, but at this point CBS is eyeing the 2025-2026 schedule to debut the first season, probably close to its mothership series Fire Country.

Despite two shows in CBS' FBI franchise being canceled last month, fans of the procedural drama can take comfort in knowing that a new spin-off has officially been given a series order, and will premiere during the 2025-26 season. The best part? Lucifer's Tom Ellis has been cast in the lead role of what's known right now as CIA.
Per Deadline, Ellis will star in the new series from Dick Wolf, which sees FBI: Most Wanted showrunner David Hudgins once again take point. Executive producers include former CIA officer David Chasteen, Nicole Perlman, and Peter Jankowski. Like the flagship series, this new outing will have all the drama and intrigue fans have come to expect from the franchise, and focus on two agents who become unlikely partners to help bring down various threats:

Okay, I think everyone would agree that Fire Country delivered one of their best episodes yet. There was a little bit of everything for everyone on “Dirty Money,” and we have to talk about how good it was.
I wasn’t kidding either about there being a little something of everything. For a brief part of the episode, we legit had ourselves a murder mystery.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Fire Country Season 3 has been the best so far. The writing, from plotting to character development, has skyrocketed in quality.
(Courtesy of CBS)
Not to mention, the cases no longer feel like a rinse-and-repeat from one catastrophe to another.
Before we get to the multiple juicy parts of Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16, we need to get some minor plots out of the way.

On a show like Fire Country, the characters are always a scene away from disaster in one form or another. Typically, it’s a raging inferno or someone trapped under, in, or on something.
However, this series boasts as much drama as it does action. So, sometimes, the only real danger to a character is their own moral compass.
For three seasons of Fire Country, Bode Leone has endured one struggle after another. Yet, somehow, he has avoided falling back on his old drug habits.

It seems those days are over, as the show has been building up to Bode’s relapse. We can only hope Audrey can pull him from the shadows before he’s lost to his own inner darkness.

Now, we’re certainly more than ready to see Bode and the Station 423 and Third Rock members back in action. Fire Country isn’t ready for us, though, with the show remaining on a break tonight, Friday, March 28.
There isn’t even a rerun on tonight. Like last week, this break is due to sports. The NCAA championship continues tonight, and CBS will air a couple of the games. Because the network needs to do the right thing for business and get the eyeballs on the screen, we will have to turn to Paramount+ to watch the show.
In some good news, it means there aren’t any more breaks coming. At least, there shouldn’t be with the finale date for the season now set.
