’Sheriff Country’s Morena Baccarin Reveals Mickey Fox’s Secret Weapon in ‘Fire Country’ Spin-Off
Image
When Fire Country returns next fall, fans will have something extra to look forward to. The already highly anticipated spin-off series Sheriff Country will start the expansion of the franchise, with Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) in the lead. During a recent interview, the star talked a bit about the starting point of the new series and her approach to Mickey Fox, a character that we've already met a couple of times in the mothership series Fire Country.

During the interview with TV Insider, Baccarin talked about the set-up of Sheriff Country. Since she will be a police officer in a small town, she's bound to have to deal with the crimes of people she's known her whole life. In that scenario, it will be interesting to see how Mickey is able to navigate each case and find the best resolution for it. She stated:

“I’m really interested in the...

CBS Sets 2025-2026 Primetime Lineup and Adds Yellowstone Spinoff
Image
CBS’s 2025-2026 primetime lineup will look surprisingly different from the 2024-2025 version, considering that the network is bringing back l8 shows. The network’s primetime schedule will include one new comedy, four new dramas, and three unscripted series, along with its returning fare.

CBS’s schedule announcement revealed they’ve greenlit a Yellowstone spinoff starring Luke Grimes, reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. For now the drama is called Y: Marshals and is expected to premiere during the 2025-2026 midseason. The network’s also ordered a true crime series based on Harlan Coben’s Final Twist for midseason.

New fall dramas include the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, and CIA, a universe expansion of FBI. Dmv, the only new comedy, is described as a workplace comedy set at, obviously, the Department of Motor Vehicles. Taylor Sheridan Blake Shelton, and Keith Urban’s The Road...

Image
The Fire Country universe expands this fall as Sheriff Country joins the flagship series. CBS has already announced that the Morena Baccarin series will finally premiere in the upcoming TV season, but having the show on the schedule makes it more real. Additionally, Blue Bloods spin-off Boston Blue will also be on the schedule. Sheriff Country kicks off the night at 8 p.m. Et with Fire Country following after in its regular time slot of 9 p.m. Et and Boston Blue at 10 p.m. Et.

Sheriff Country stars Baccarin as straight-shooting sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire’s division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr of Fire Country). She investigates criminal activity while she patrols the streets of small-town Edgewater, contending with her ex-con father,...

Matthew Gray Gubler's 'Einstein' Might Be in Trouble As a Major Player Exits
Image
For various reasons, CBS decided to hold the Matthew Gray Gubler-led series, Einstein, for the 2026-2027 TV season. The show had already cast two series regulars, but production will need to go back to the casting room to look for another actor to play Detective Maddie Paris. Deadline reports that Rosa Salazar, who was to play the character, has exited the project after the delay was announced. Salazar's departure frees her from her contractual obligations, allowing her to pursue other projects that might be of interest. The decision to end her relationship with CBS Studios, as far as Einstein is concerned, was mutual and amicable. If she had stayed on, she'd have been forced to wait until next year when the show resumes production, given that hiring for writing staff had been paused following the delay announcement.

In Einstein, Criminal Minds alum Gray Gubler plays famed physicist Albert Einstein's relative.

As Fire Country Fizzles, Sheriff Country Unveils Impressive New Cast Members — Can the Spinoff Succeed?
Image
There’s been so much chatter about the future of Fire Country after some significant departures that I forgot Sheriff Country was gearing up for its launch during the 2025-26 season.

All we knew about the spinoff was that Morena Baccarin would be at the wheel in the role of Mickey Fox.

We already met Mickey on Fire Country, with the mothership series revealing she is Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone’s stepsister.

(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)

It was a compelling way to connect these two universes, but beyond that, there were many questions about who else would be on Sheriff Country.

Now, we have our answer. Deadline reports that CSI: Vegas veteran Matt Lauria has scored a series regular role in the upcoming offshoot.

After being partnered for years, the pair have a great shorthand and deep respect for each other. But there is also a note of tension between them because Boone feels that he was passed over for the sheriff position.

Sheriff Country adds CSI: Vegas star in crucial role for Fire Country spinoff
Image
Fire Country is making some extreme moves. Not only did the franchise shock fans by writing two main characters off the show during the season 3 finale, but it has continued to add compelling stars to its upcoming spinoff, Sheriff Country.

Sheriff Country is a spinoff that will be led by previously established character Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin). The closer we've gotten to the show's 2025-26 premiere, however, the more impressive the list of actors involved has grown. The latest addition is Matt Lauria, who is confirmed to be playing the male lead of Sheriff Country opposite Fox.

CSI Star to Play Morena Baccarin's Partner in Fire Country Spinoff
Image
Big casting news has been revealed for Sheriff Country. Currently in the works with Morena Baccarin reprising her guest role from Fire Country, the show has now found her co-lead star.

Per Deadline, CSI: Vegas actor Matt Lauria has signed on to play the male lead opposite Baccarin in Sheriff Country. The series features Baccarin as Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Diane Farr's Sharon Leone who works as a sheriff in the small town of Edgewater. Lauria has been cast as Boone, Mickey's "smart, tough and capable deputy and longtime partner. Originally from Oakland, he’s used to a different kind of policing. Their contrasting law enforcement styles makes their partnership both complex and occasionally tense."

Other known castings include W. Earl Brown as Mickey's ex-con father; the character appeared with Baccarin's Mickey previously in Fire Country. Christopher Gorham will play Mickey's ex-husband and a Sheriff's deputy. Other...

The upcoming Sheriff Country series is building out its ensemble with a procedural veteran. A new report from Variety reveals that CSI: Vegas veteran Matt Lauria has joined the cast of Sheriff Country, the Fire Country spin-off series led by Deadpool veteran Morena Baccarin. This news comes not long after it was announced that Christopher Graham and Michelle Weaver will also star in the series, which will follow Mickey Fox (Baccarin), a straight-shooting sheriff who investigates criminal activity in the small town of Edgewater while also dealing with her ex-con father (W. Earl Brown). Mickey is the stepsister of Cal Fire division chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) and the aunt of Bode Donovan (Max Thieriot), who will also work as a writer and director on the series.

Lauria can be seen in 41 episodes of CSI: Vegas as Josh Folsom, but he’s also been in plenty of other projects you might be familiar with.

Amid CBS Cancellations, There Are New Spinoffs Coming
Jon Voight and Keenen Ivory Wayans in Wanted: Recherché mort ou vif (1997)
CBS got lethal with cutting some favorite shows, but there are some renewals and even some new spinoffs coming. Read on to find out more about them.

The Cancellations Are Upsetting

People grow up watching their favorite series and shows, so cancellations are nearly always met with disapproval. However, amid six cancellations, there is at least some hope for TV addicts. The shocker was the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted, FBI: International, and S.W.A.T. from Universal TV studios.

Others reported were Blue Bloods, Poppa’s House, and The Summit. Probably nobody will miss The Summit too much as it only ran for one season. However, Variety noted that there were some popular renewals.

Renewals & Spinoffs

The greenlit shows on CBS for the 2025-2026 season include:

NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Tracker, George & Mandie’s First Marriage, Hollywood Squares, Elsabeth, Fire Country, and Ghosts.

Two new spinoffs arrive, and one of them stars Donnie Wahlberg.

Fire Country has continued its red hot ascent up the ratings on CBS, and now, its eyes are set on a spinoff. Sheriff Country, which is set to follow characters introduced in the main series, is set to air during the 2025-26 season. We've already met Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), but Sheriff Country recently added faces that will be brand new to the franchise.

Christopher Gorham has been cast as Travis, the ex-husband of Mickey Fox. The two share a child together, a daughter named Skye, and remain forces in each others lives, which can sometimes lead to complicated feelings. Travis and Mickey are split up, but it doesn't mean the possibility of romance is completely off the table.

Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16 is One of the Best Episodes, but One Main Character Vehemently Disagrees
Image
Okay, I think everyone would agree that Fire Country delivered one of their best episodes yet. There was a little bit of everything for everyone on “Dirty Money,” and we have to talk about how good it was.

I wasn’t kidding either about there being a little something of everything. For a brief part of the episode, we legit had ourselves a murder mystery.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Fire Country Season 3 has been the best so far. The writing, from plotting to character development, has skyrocketed in quality.

(Courtesy of CBS)

Not to mention, the cases no longer feel like a rinse-and-repeat from one catastrophe to another.

Before we get to the multiple juicy parts of Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16, we need to get some minor plots out of the way.

Honestly, as much improvement as the show has made, there...

Bode and Morena Baccarin's Sheriff Fox Team Up for a Search in 'Fire Country' Season 3, Episode 16
Image
In this Friday's episode, Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) is back on Fire Country. This is her second appearance on the show before she moves on to lead her show that premieres this fall. But before Sheriff Country, there are plenty of crimes in Edgewater, and one is closer to home than she would have thought. "Bode (Max Thieriot) and his aunt, Sheriff Mickey Fox, investigate the attempted murder of her estranged father, Wes Fox (W. Earl Brown)," reads the logline for Fire Country Season 3, Episode 16, "Dirty Money." Mickey's father is an illegal marijuana grower, so there are no limits to how many people would want to harm him. Fire Country Season 3 Episode 16 Spoilers: Morena Baccarin’s Mickey Fox Returns with More Family Drama
Image
On a show like Fire Country, the characters are always a scene away from disaster in one form or another. Typically, it’s a raging inferno or someone trapped under, in, or on something.

However, this series boasts as much drama as it does action. So, sometimes, the only real danger to a character is their own moral compass.

For three seasons of Fire Country, Bode Leone has endured one struggle after another. Yet, somehow, he has avoided falling back on his old drug habits.

(Hugh Tull/CBS)

It seems those days are over, as the show has been building up to Bode’s relapse. We can only hope Audrey can pull him from the shadows before he’s lost to his own inner darkness.

Now That’s How You Introduce a New FBI Agent — Grade Dani Rhodes’ Debut
Image
When it comes to filling the void left by the season-opening exit of Special Agent Tiffany Wallace (played by Katherine Renee Kane), it would appear that the third time’s the charm for CBS’ FBI.

After giving Scola a purposely fleeting new partner in Episode 2, followed by an unexpectedly short-term partner (played by Lisette Olivera), the crime drama this week went about things a very different way. The April 1 episode, “Covered,” introduced Special Agent Dani Rhodes (Magnum P.I. and S.W.A.T. vet Emily Alabi) with a robust storyline that both told us much about her as a Leo and had...

Fire Country isn't new tonight, March 28, 2025 (But there is a return date set)
Image
Now, we’re certainly more than ready to see Bode and the Station 423 and Third Rock members back in action. Fire Country isn’t ready for us, though, with the show remaining on a break tonight, Friday, March 28.

There isn’t even a rerun on tonight. Like last week, this break is due to sports. The NCAA championship continues tonight, and CBS will air a couple of the games. Because the network needs to do the right thing for business and get the eyeballs on the screen, we will have to turn to Paramount+ to watch the show.

In some good news, it means there aren’t any more breaks coming. At least, there shouldn’t be with the finale date for the season now set.

When will Fire Country return with new episodes?

CBS has set the return date for the series. Fire Country is back on Friday, April...
