A couple of years ago, we reported on Eddie Murphy engaging in negotiations to star in a new continuity of Pink Panther films. The original movie starred Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau as he tracks down a notorious jewel thief known as “The Phantom” before he is able to steal a priceless diamond known as “The Pink Panther”. The opening credits included the cartoon panther that audiences have come to associate with the franchise, and sources said that this new project will attempt to meld both worlds. The live-action/CG hybrid movie is said to see “the Pink Panther’s live-action crew break him out of his animated prison to do a heist job.“

Crime on television can be quite something as it often brings audiences in contact with charismatic and enticing crime bosses. In NBC's crime drama, The Blacklist, we were introduced to one such character in Raymond “Red” Reddington, played by James Spader. The series wove an intricate web of stories that ranged from the actual blacklist itself, the real identity of the Boston crime boss and his relationship with another key character in the series, Megan Boone's Elizabeth Keen. Keen herself would depart in Season 8, with the show deciding to kill her off. The Blacklist was renewed for a tenth and final season on NBC in 2022, and its somewhat ambiguous ending didn't quite land with its audience.
The Blacklist Season 10 would end with Red being killed by a bull after escaping to Spain. Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) would find Red's body and place his hat on the body. Speculations...

It's going to be a one-season run for Laid, the romantic comedy series on Peacock. Despite having a strong cast with nearly unanimous praise from critics, the show won't be getting another season on the NBCUniversal platform.
Per Deadline, Laid has officially been canceled by Peacock after one season. The show premiered on the streaming platform on Dec. 19 with all eight episodes made available to watch simultaneously. Its response was stellar, as the show holds a score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the show did not become a major streaming hit, as it didn't crack Nielsen's top 10 list, nor did it create substantial buzz on social media. It's not yet known if the show will be shopped around to other streaming platforms for a potential rescue.

Exclusive: The Equalizer is the latest hit CBS series to explore a spinoff. The Queen Latifah crime drama will introduce two new characters in Episode 516 this season that could anchor their own series, sources tell Deadline.
Casting is underway for the roles: a skilled younger female martial artist, weapons expert and criminologist with a secret origin story who turns to McCall (Queen Latifah) for help, and an older male former top CIA operative. (It is unclear whether he and McCall know each other from their time at the agency.) Both are guest-star roles with series regular options aimed at the potential spinoff.
If the offshoot goes forward, its two-hander format would be a departure from the original 1985 Equalizer series, the current CBS reboot as well as the movie franchise, all of which had a single lead, male (first series and movies) and female (the Queen Latifah version).

“Magnum P.I.” is coming to a close at NBC. The drama series, which was canceled by CBS last year before NBC picked it up, will not continue past the upcoming second part of Season 5.
The decision not to order a sixth season comes past the 50-day mark of the WGA strike and a potential strike by SAG-AFTRA after the actors union’s contract with the AMPTP expires on June 30. That date coincides with the end of the “Magnum P.I.” cast’s deals at NBC. Therefore, to avoid cancelling the show, NBC would have had to either order more episodes without knowing when they could enter production or extend the actors’ deals to prolong the decision-making period. Ultimately, opted to release the actors and move forward without “Magnum P.I.” on its slate.
“Magnum P.I.” was a reboot of the 1980s series of the same name that starred Tom Selleck in the title role.

After a few days of fan frenzy over an unverified Instagram photo announcing the final season of The Blacklist, NBC confirmed on Feb. 1, 2023, that season 10 will be the last chapter of the enigmatic crime drama. These days, it’s rare for a show to tell 10 years’ worth of stories. The Blacklist’s ultimate chronicle premieres on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt as Raymond Reddington (James Spader) confronts unparalleled danger. With Reddington’s covert role as an FBI informant facing exposure, former Blacklisters will unite against him in their lethal desire for revenge – testing Red and the FBI Task Force as never before.
John Eisendrath, showrunner and executive producer, said “[a]fter 10 years, hundreds of ‘Blacklist’ cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion. It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week.

Magnum P.I. was saved last summer by NBC after it was cancelled by CBS.
The procedural will now be “sexier” in its new home, according to its stars and showrunner, as characters Thomas Magnum, played by Jay Hernandez, and Juliet Higgins, played by Perdita Weeks, getting together and starting a romantic relationship.
While Magnum and Higgins have had the classic ‘will they, won’t they’ since season one and shared a kiss at the end of season four, season five kicks off with a steamy shower scene and a Baywatch-style romp.
Showrunner Eric Guggenheim, speaking at NBC’s TCA press tour, said that this relationship would have happened even if it had remained on CBS. But he added, “This season is sexier. It is more romantic, more emotional.”

Fitting for the Christmas weekend ahead, TVLine’s first look at Magnum P.I. Season 5 brings you tidings of comfortin’ Joy.
When last we tuned into the Hawaii-based drama, Juliet (played by Perdita Weeks) had ‘fessed up her feeeelings to Thomas (Jay Hernandez), after which the partners in crimesolving shared a passionate kiss against a perfect sunset. But preceding that long-awaited lip-lock, Rick and Suzy (Zachary Knighton and Betsy Phillips), after a bit of a scare, welcomed their first child into the world, while Gordon (Tim Kang) found himself suspended from the police force after working “off book” to rescue his ex-wife from a kidnapper.

Netflix has opted not to renew new comedy series Blockbuster for a second season.

Exclusive: Magnum P.I. has been saved. It came down to the wire but a deal just closed for NBC to order 20 new episodes of the action drama starring Jay Hernandez following its cancellation by CBS last month, I have learned. I hear the 20 episodes will be split into two seasons, bringing the reboot’s run to 96 episodes, with an option for more.
In anticipation of the deal closing, CBS Studios, which co-produces the series with Universal TV, did not extend the options on the cast which expire at the end of day today, June 30, ahead of time, so the final stage of the negotiations stretched into the night tonight. With an agreement on the order reached, the cast is now being picked up and finalizing deals to return for the new seasons.
Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang and Amy Hill star alongside Hernandez in the series.

Exclusive: NBC has given an early Season 7 renewal to veteran thriller drama The Blacklist, from Davis Entertainment, Sony Pictures TV and Universal TV.
I hear the pickup had been in the works for awhile. Standard broadcast series’ cast contracts are for six years. While I hear The Blacklist star James Spader had renegotiated his deal early on, adding an extra year, the rest of the show’s original cast members’ contracts were up at the end of the current sixth season. I hear over the past several months, Sony TV inked new pacts with co-lead Megan Boone and the other two original series regular cast members Diego Klatenhoff and Harry Lennix. Securing the core cast paved the way to a Season 7 renewal.
The Blacklist was a massive hit when it debuted on NBC in 2013 behind The Voice on Monday. It took a hit when the network in Season 2 relocated it to shore up Thursday night,...

Disney is to try and strike Pirates Of The Caribbean-style gold with a new movie based on the Jungle Cruise Disneyland ride.
The upcoming slate of Dwayne Johnson was already looking just a little crowded. Now it turns out that he's adding another film to it as well, this time based on a Disneyland theme park ride.
The ride in question is Jungle Cruise, and Disney has hired John Requa and Glenn Ficarra - Focus, Crazy Stupid Love - to write a screenplay for the movie (it's not clear at this stage whether they'll be directing as well). The movie will reportedly be a period piece along the lines of The African Queen, the 1951 Humphrey Bogart/Katharine Hepburn-headlined classic. Turns out that film was one of the inspirations for the ride.
John Davis and John Fox are to produce the movie, Although where it fits into Johnson's slate remains to be seen.

We recently reported that NBC was moving forward on an exorcism drama called The Possession of Maggie Gill, and today it was announced that another show on the network’s schedule has been possessed and that James Wan, a director familiar with capturing supernatural scares, is attached to helm the project.
Deadline reports that NBC has purchased Maidenhead from Sony TV, a show written by Ben Ripley (Source Code, Species: The Awakening) and set to be directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw) in his first foray into television. Ripley and Wan will also serve as executive producers alongside Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox. We have the show’s official synopsis (via Deadline):
“Maidenhead is described as a medical procedural wrapped in a very realistic, frightening supernatural drama. When a scientist is called to a tiny Connecticut suburb to investigate an ailing teen girl, he...
