Ronda Fowler celebrates the launch of her first directorial debut, 'Single Black Mama:' one woman's story of hope derived from the unexpected ending of a deceptive relationship. Born and raised in New York City, Ronda Fowler began her comedic career after discovering her innate ability and true love for making people laugh. Inspired by the icons of her youth including Carol Burnett and then Eddie Murphy, Ronda started her own impersonations which launched the beginning of her comedic path. Ronda's voice and comedic style capture the true disparate sensibilities of women living in New York, being single and raising a child. The combination of nonchalance, sexuality and grit mixed in with Fowler's compelling vulnerability and conviction, encapsulates a generation of women and all the witty madness they go through. Ronda Fowler's career began after a friend introduced her to the Uptown Comedy Club in Harlem. After visiting the set, Ronda pursued the coveted open mike nights and became a contributing writer and ultimately a cast member on the Nationally Syndicated spin-off television show, "Uptown Comedy Club." After wrapping with this series, Ronda then auditioned for the "Apollo Comedy Hour" and quickly became one of their highly sought after cast members. Ronda's thrust into single parenthood became a well needed disruption to her comedic and entertainment career that she so loved, and provided her with the opportunity to focus on raising her son, all the while reconnecting the comedienne to her true inspiration to and her return to comedy. Ronda decided to take destiny into her own hands becoming a certified director and producer with the local cable station Manhattan Neighborhood Network. She went on to produce the one woman show "Breakin' These Chains" and the local cable variety show, "Late Night with Ronda Fowler." Ronda is now an advanced digital film graduate of Digital Film Academy NYC, where she wrote, Executive Produced and Directed her first short screenplay, 'Single Black Mama.'
