Boop! The Musical will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, July 13, producers announced today. The show will have played 25 previews and 112 regular performances.

The musical is the fourth Broadway production — after Smash, Real Women Have Curves and Dead Outlaw — to announce an early close after coming up empty at the Tony Awards earlier this month.

Featuring the Tony-nominated breakout star Jasmine Amy Rogers in the title role, Boop! began previews March 11 and opened to lukewarm reviews (except for the widely praised Rogers) on April 5 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

The production, capitalized for up to $26 million (which it has not recouped), struggled at the box office, with attendance usually below the 80% mark of the Broadhurst’s capacity. For the week ending June 22, the show grossed a below-break-even $602,017 with a very modest...

The closing announcement is the fourth new musical in the past several weeks, following Smash, Dead Outlaw and Real Women Have Curves. All are new musicals that came to Broadway this spring, that were hoping for boosts from the Tony Awards, but did not take home any trophies.

Boop star Jasmine Amy Rogers was nominated for a Tony Award this year, and the show also received nods for best costume design and best choreography.

The musical, directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, opened at the Broadhurst Theater April 5, after starting previews March 11.

The show received mixed to positive reviews for the storyline that reimagines the cartoon character come to life in modern day New York. Rogers was highlighted as a standout, and she won the Drama Desk Award for outstanding lead performance, an award which she shared with Gypsy’s Audra McDonald.

According to the network’s casting announcement, Huffman will play Amy’s med school professor and mentor, Dr. Joan Ridley. Ridley will be involved in the plot as the new Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital.

Molly Parker leads the cast as Dr. Amy Larsen. Returning series stars also include Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.

Felicity Huffman has joined “Doc” Season 2 at Fox.

Huffman will appear in the series regular role of Dr. Joan Ridley, described as “Amy Larsen’s (Molly Parker) med school professor and early mentor – and the new Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital.”

Along with Parker and Huffman, Season 2 of “Doc” stars Omar Metwally, Jon Ecker, Amirah Vann, Anya Banerjee, Patrick Walker, and Charlotte Fountain-Jardim.

The role marks a return to Fox for Huffman, who recently guest starred in the broadcast network’s anthology drama “Accused.” She is best known for her starring role in the ABC drama “Desperate Housewives,” for which she received two Emmy nominations. Huffman has also been nominated for three Emmys for her role in ABC’s “American Crime.” Her other recent TV credits include “The Good Doctor” and “Criminal Minds: Evolution.” In 2006, Huffman was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for her work in “Transamerica.

A new online petition has launched to get Jasmine Amy Rogers and Boop! the Musical a performance slot at the Tony Awards. The fan-made petition comes after the Tony Awards recently announced the performance slate for this year's ceremony, which included all the nominees for Best Musical and Best Musical Revival, along with Real Women Have Curves and Just In Time, excluding Boop! the Musical. The letter – posted by Jacob Rivera-Sanchez and cast member Christian Probst – points out that Rogers is the "only Best Actress in a Musical nominee with a currently-running show without a featured performance scheduled for the telecast." Katharine McPhee had a glam night out with husband David Foster and friends over the weekend!

The 41-year-old actress/singer and the 75-year-old music producer were joined by Katharine‘s mom Peisha, sister Adriana, and friend Matt Walker for dinner at Cipriani restaurant on Saturday (May 31) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

David composed the music for the new Broadway musical Boop! and he made a surprise appearance at a recent performance to announce the upcoming cast album.

The original Broadway cast recording was just finished and will be released on June 6.

Boop! The Musical is nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Actress in a Musical for lead star Jasmine Amy Rogers, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design. It won all three of those awards at the recent Drama Desk Awards!

Brian Avnet, the respected personal manager and music executive who discovered Josh Groban, collaborated with David Foster and helped The Manhattan Transfer to great success, has died. He was 82.

Avnet died May 14 at his home in Los Angeles after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease, a publicist announced.

The Baltimore native also worked closely with the likes of Johnny Mandel, Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Cyndi Lauper, Take 6, Jean-Luc Ponty, Eric Benét and Joshua Ledet.

Avnet began working with The Manhattan Transfer in 1979, and two years later the vocal group became the first to win Grammys in the pop and jazz categories in the same year, earning trophies for “The Boy From New York City” and “Until I Met You (Corner Pocket).”

“Brian was an excellent manager and like a brother to me,” Manhattan Transfer founding member Alan Paul said in a statement.

Jasmine Amy Rogers grew up feeling like a cartoon character. “My voice for a kid my age was a little lower than all the rest of the girls,” she says, “but it was also very, very raspy and also a little squeaky, and so people always used to tell me that I sounded like a cartoon character.”

Who better then to give life to Betty Boop, the intoxicating character that gives Boop! The Musical its name, that classic cartoon Jazz Age flapper with the funny voice and a head big and round enough to convey innocence and sophistication, flirtatiousness and humor. Nominations for the 69th annual Drama Desk Awards were announced Wednesday by Tony- and Grammy-nominated actor Norm Lewis. Winners will be announced on June 1, at a ceremony taking place at NYU Skirball and hosted by Debra Messing and Tituss Burgess.

The Drama Desk Awards are unique in the landscape of New York theater, as they are the only place where Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off Broadway compete within the same categories. Clay was joined on the red carpet by his 16-year-old son Parker Foster Aiken.

For those who don’t know, Clay welcomed his son with his longtime friend Jaymes Foster, who happens to be the sister of David Foster. They were never romantically involved, but decided to raise a child together and she got pregnant through in vitro fertilization. That makes David the uncle of Parker!

David was supported by his wife Katharine McPhee and four of his daughters while attending the opening night celebration on Saturday (April 5) at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City.

While walking the carpet, David also posed for photos with daughters Sara, Erin, Jordan, and Amy. His longtime friend and collaborator Nicole Scherzinger also showed up to support him on the carpet before performing in her show Sunset Blvd that evening! David‘s former step-daughter Gigi Hadid was also there, though is not pictured.

If you want to be three-dimensional about it, there’s plenty wrong with Boop! The Musical, now running at the Broadhurst Theatre. The opening number is a headscratcher that explodes into a tap extravaganza with no setup or context. The leading man is saddled with a paper-thin backstory. Lots of the lyrics go clunk. And the plot makes absolutely no sense.

In this kooky story, the iconic 1930s cartoon character Betty Boop (Jasmine Amy Rogers) created by animation pioneer Max Fleischer shows up in contemporary New York City, and in spite of glimpsing so much garbage, poverty, and corruption all around her, she still sees something magical that she can’t help but resist. Maybe it’s Betty’s unshakeable optimism rubbing off, but Boop!, for all its unmissably ramshackle flaws, is joyously irresistible.

At the show’s start, Betty finds herself getting tired of her literally black-and-white life in ToonTown.

Katharine McPhee is preparing to celebrate her 41st birthday and she’s opening up about being comfortable in her body.

In a recent interview, Katharine explained why she and husband David Foster, 75, don’t make a big deal about their ages.

“Honestly, I think that we’re both very similar in this way,” she told People in November 2024. “I welcomed my 40s, and David didn’t have any conversations about, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 75,’ or I didn’t say, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 40. I’m really mourning that.

David Foster is so afraid of elevators that he can only remember being in five of them as an adult.

The 75-year-old music producer, who is a 16-time Grammy winner, opened up about his fear of elevators after being asked about his workout routine.

“I try to go to the gym three times a week. Also, I literally never take an elevator. It’s claustrophobia. I’ve been in an elevator five times in my adult life. Three of those were for surgeries in the hospital. I was drugged, so it was Ok,” David told the Wall Street Journal.

David revealed one incredible story about why he went in an elevator.

Caitlyn Jenner’s son, Brody Jenner, has revealed new details about his complicated relationship with his mother.

In an episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test on Jan. 15, Brody, 41, shared that he and Jenner did not have a close relationship while he was growing up, but it has gotten “better now.”

Brody was born in 1983 to Jenner (formerly a man known as Bruce) and his wife, Linda Thompson. Thompson and Jenner divorced in 1986, and Jenner married Kris Kardashian from 1991 to 2015, welcoming two children, Kendall and Kylie. Jenner and Kardashian divorced in 2015 and Jenner transitioned to a woman. Thompson married David Foster in 1999, and the couple went on to raise Brody and his brother Brandon together.

Brody remembered on the podcast, “I’d randomly see [Jenner] – ‘him’ at the time – you know, here and there…but [Kris] would tell me that I would write on cards, ‘Why doesn’t dad call me on my birthday?...

David Foster‘s daughters are nominated tonight at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards!

The 75-year-old music producer and his wife Katharine McPhee stepped out to support his daughters Erin and Sara Foster at the awards show on Sunday (January 5) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Erin is the creator of the hit Netflix series Nobody Wants This and both she and Sara served as executive producers on the project. They are nominated for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical.

Also nominated in the category are Abbott Elementary, The Bear, The Gentlemen, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building.

A forgotten horror movie starring Tom Welling is resurfacing on a new streaming home. Fans will have a chance to give it a watch for free when it hits Tubi next month.

On Jan. 1, 2025, Welling's The Fog will be made available to stream for free on Tubi. This will gave fans of the actor a chance check out the film, which marked one of Welling's first movie roles. With its debut in theaters in 2005, it dropped early into the run of Smallville, the hit DC series featuring Welling as a young Clark Kent. It also marks the only horror movie to feature Welling, though the actor recently made his mark in action with his role in the recent film Mafia Wars.

Married couple David Foster and Katharine McPhee performed “Can’t Help Falling in Love” as she walked the aisle. David actually introduced Pia to Carmen, who is EVP of On Stage Audio International.

Pia has regularly been performing on tour with David and Katharine, most recently hitting the stage with them at the Hollywood Bowl for David‘s 75th birthday concert.

“They are so dear to us, and had it not been for David, I would’ve never met Carmen,” Pia told Brides. “Both he and Katharine are a big part of our story.”

Clay Aiken is opening up about fatherhood!

In a new interview, the 45-year-old American Idol alum shared some rare comments about raising his 16-year-old son Parker, whom he shares with good friend Jaymes Foster.

Clay went on to say that’s proud that he was able to give Parker a sense of normalcy growing up out of the public eye.

However, Clay did note that the family let Parker participate on Celebrity Family Feud over the summer.

“That was his first time,” Clay said.

Principal casting for the new Broadway musical Boop! The Musical was announced today, with Jasmine Amy Rogers and Faith Prince set to reprise their well-reviewed performances from last year’s Chicago engagement.

Rogers will play Betty Boop and Prince will portray the character Valentina. The musical, which begins previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on on March 11, 2025, with an official opening on April 5, will also feature other members of the Chicago cast, including Ainsley Melham as Dwayne, Erich Bergen as Raymond, Stephen DeRosa as Grampy, Anastacia McCleskey as Carol, Angelica Hale as Trisha, Phillip Huber (Pudgy the Dog), and Aubie Merrylees as Oscar.
