Younger sister of Steven Ford, Michael Gerald Ford and John Gardner Ford.

Her first husband was one of her father's former Secret Service agents; her second husband is an attorney.

She lives outside Albuquerque with her husband and their five children from previous marriages.

Ex-husband Charles "Chuck" Vance was a Secret Service Agent, serving on President Ford's security detail when they met. Now heads a private security firm in Virginia, and is married to former news anchorwoman Cynthia Steele Vance.

Was a classmate of Steve Doocy in a journalism class at the University of Kansas.

Susan is a trained photographer who worked as a photojournalist for the Associated Press, Newsweek, Money Magazine, Ladies Home Journal, the Topeka Capital-Journal, and the Omaha Sun.

Lives in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, and has assumed her mother's responsibilities with the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California. (December 2006)
