He appeared in different genres on stage - from comedies, to dramas till to operettas.

Especially his appearances in the Sissi movies "Sissi" (1955), "Sissi - Die junge Kaiserin" (1956) and "Sissi - Schicksalsjahre einer Kaiserin" (1957) he became popular to a new and young audience. In these movies he always impersonated the role of Count Grünne.
