Rom com Wedding in Basarabia, a Romanian, Moldovan and Luxembourg co-production directed by Nap Toader (Napoleon Helmis) has been selected for Montreal World Film Festival 2010 edition, where it will compete in the Focus on World Cinema section. Starring Vlad Logigan, Victoria Bobu, Constantin Florescu, Viorica Geanta-Chelbea and Igor Chistol, Nap Toader’s sophomore feature tells the story of a young couple that have just got married. He’s a Romanian, from Bucharest. She’s from Chișinău (the Republic of Moldova). They plan a second wedding in her native Basarabia, hoping to receive enough presents of cash in order to pay the first installment for an apartment. The narrative sees the second wedding as a manner to view the differences between Romanian and Bassarabian traditions and specific behaviors.
