There is good news for fans of the political drama series The West Wing. The show is once again streaming on Max after initially being removed over the holidays.
Max's official X (formerly Twitter) account posted the good news, saying "All episodes of #TheWestWing now streaming" along with a video showing Martin Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlet on the political TV series, waving to the crowd along with the words "The West Wing coming back to Max after leaving for one week." Deadline reported that the series was pulled from the streamer due to viewership hitting "a significant lull over the holidays."

The Bartlet administration has briefly gone missing from Max. But don’t worry; it’ll be back.
The West Wing was pulled from the streaming service after viewership hit a significant lull over the holidays. All seven seasons were available on the platform — that is, until recently.
Oliver Darcy noted in his Status newsletter that the drama’s removal was part of a cost-cutting move following an evaluation of its performance. No one in leadership was initially flagged that it was targeted for elimination from the platform.
The decision was made Tuesday, however, that such an iconic series should not be pulled from HBO’s sister streamer so The West Wing will return Wednesday. Hail to the chief!

On September 20, creator Aaron Sorkin, executive producer and director Thomas Schlamme, and some of the cast of “The West Wing,” including the show’s fictional president, Martin Sheen, celebrated the 25th anniversary of their beloved political TV series with a special event at The White House hosted by the First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden. It was part of a reunion lap the show has been having the last few months, both in relation to the upcoming election and the release of “What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to ‘The West Wing'” by co-stars of the show Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack. In reminiscing about the show in a recent interview with The New York Times, Sorkin shared that the timetable for when the show was supposed to be made had to be shifted as a result of a real-life political scandal.

Aaron Sorkin was clearly moved on Friday during his visit to the White House to celebrate the 25th anniversary of “The West Wing” — so much so that it has him pondering a revival of the critically adored political drama.
“If I had an idea, sure,” Sorkin told Variety afterward. “I didn’t think about it seriously, frankly, until today… We’ll see what happens when I wake up tomorrow. But, if you’re asking me now, this is how I feel.”
Sorkin, director/exec producer Thomas Schlamme and stars Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney, Emily Procter, Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack met with President Joe Biden in the map room, and then were given a personal tour of the building. (President Biden then left for meetings in Delaware.) Later, First Lady Jill Biden held a formal Rose Garden ceremony for the show, held right outside the real-life West Wing and Oval Office.

Cast members of The West Wing emerged from the real Oval Office this afternoon for a White House Rose Garden reception recognizing the NBC show’s 25th anniversary.
Speaking to a couple hundred attendees, First Lady Jill Biden said that President Joe Biden wanted to make sure that “President Bartlet and his staff had a chance to see the Oval Office again,” while she cited the 1999-2006 show’s inspiration to “so many to step forward and serve our country.”
Martin Sheen, who played Bartlet, thanked the first lady for getting the opportunity “to morph once again into the wonderful character that changed my life and lot of the others as well.” He then made a soaring statement from the Rose Garden steps, reiterating an Irish story themed to the idea of “something worth fighting for.”

The West Wing’s President Bartlet and his staff reunited at the Emmys.
The not-so-secret reunion saw Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney and Richard Schiff appear in a replica of the Oval Office before presenting best drama series.
Sheen opened by saying, “From 1999 to 2006 I had the honor of playing the President of the United States on an extraordinary series created by Aaron Sorkin and produced by John Wells.”
“The name of that series was The West Wing, and we all had the honor of serving your administration,” added Hill.
Janney said, “It’s hard to believe that 25 years ago, Aaron and the writers actually had to use their imaginations to create interesting plot lines for The West Wing.”
Schiff replied, “Unlike today, where story lines can be plucked right off the news, storylines that writers would have deemed a bit far-fetched, if not utterly ridiculous 25 years ago.

Suits is one of the best and most popular legal dramas that managed to make the profession of lawyer cool again. Created by Aaron Korsh, the USA Network series follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who has a photographic memory and joins Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) at a prestigious law firm. The only problem with that is Mike didn’t actually go to law school and he doesn’t have a degree about which he has to lie to everyone. Suits ran for 9 brilliant seasons and ended its run in 2019. So, if you loved the witty banter, high stakes, and compelling characters in Suits here are some similar brilliant shows you should check out next.

Do you often have your nose in a book? I can relate! I'm always looking for the next story or universe that's going to capture my mind or attention, leading me down a wonderful rabbit hole whether it's a romance novel or a fantasy. But there are also times when I've got a craving for non-fiction. Storytelling can be found in the pages of books all about real life people and events as well. History is fascinating especially when it comes directly from someone who was there to experience it or an author who has the same kind of obsession as you do.

Aaron Sorkin thinks he could still make The West Wing today, but there is one political factor he thinks would be very different than when the series ran 25 years ago: today’s Republican Party.
At an event in support of the upcoming book What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to The West Wing, Its Cast and Crew, and Its Enduring Legacy of Service in Los Angeles on Saturday, Sorkin acknowledged that he is sometimes asked if the show would work in the present day.
“Honestly, I think it would for roughly the same reason it worked when it did, which is that, first of all, it was a good show, just good stories well told by a great group of people,” he explained to the crowd at the Skirball Cultural Center. “But by and large, in popular culture, our leaders are portrayed either as Machiavellian or as dolts, right? Aaron Sorkin says he’s often asked whether The West Wing could work today. His answer, for the most part, is yes: his present-day depiction of the White House, like the one he created 25 years ago, would still be idealistic and still feel completely aspirational.
But there is one element from his Emmy-winning series that viewers couldn’t vibe with today, Sorkin told the audience Saturday during a mini-cast reunion of The West Wing: the idea that reasonable Republicans work on Capitol Hill.
“I don’t want to get a rumble started or anything like that,” Sorkin told the crowd at the Skirball Center event, which was meant to celebrate the Aug. 13 release of the book What’s Next: A Backstage Pass to The West Wing by show stars Melissa Fitzgerald and Mary McCormack. “This is simply what would be different. Exclusive: If all goes to plan, America and the world will know in the next few hours who Kamala Harris has picked to be her running mate against Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. However, in the corridors of Hollywood power and money, an overwhelming favorite choice has emerged.
“Josh Shapiro,” one agency executive declares in a statement echoed around town today. “Pennsylvania wins the election,” the exec promptly added of why the Keystone Stone state’s governor would be the best fit for the Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee’s just over two-week-long White House bid in a still tight Electoral College battle with Trump.

The Bartlet administration, sadly, will not be returning for a third term. After The West Wing reunion tease, hyped by former cast members Mary McCormack and Josh Malina recently, it turns out that no, we will not be seeing more of Aaron Sorkin's lightning-fast dialogue prowling around the Oval Office. What we are getting, however, is a new book entitled What’s Next: A Backstage Pass To The West Wing, Its Cast And Crew, And Its Enduring Legacy Of Service being released, written by McCormack and Melissa Fitzgerald.

Hln is planning a Thanksgiving weekend marathon of The West Wing, marking the first scripted series for the CNN Worldwide channel.
All 90 episodes from the first four seasons of the series will be shown starting on Thanksgiving Day and running through Sunday.
The marathon is an example of synergy with parent Warner Bros. Discovery, which has wanted to see more integration between the units. The entire seven-season run of The West Wing is on HBO Max, as well as the special A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote from 2020.
Produced by Warner Bros. Television, The West Wing ran on NBC from 1999 to 2006, and was a favorite in D.C. policy circles, even if aspects may have been an idealized version of a presidential administration. Cast members have remained politically active. Martin Sheen, Bradley Whitford, Melissa Fitzgerald, Mary McCormack and Richard Schiff recently gathered for a virtual reunion...

On March 16, 2020, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley launched “Stars In The House” in response to what they knew would be an immediate need for funds in light of the Broadway shutdown.
Now, one year and over 375 episodes later, “Stars In The House” has raised over $715,000 for The Actors Fund, and an additional $200,000 for other charity organizations who have needed support throughout the pandemic.
“We can’t believe it has been a year! We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our viewers, who send in donations from all over the world,” said Rudetsky and Wesley. “We thought that after the first few weeks, contributions would dwindle and the show would be more about bringing some joy and positivity during these dark times. But the fact that we have been able to do both – deliver fun and financial support – is beyond our wildest dreams. We are so grateful to our team behind the scenes,...

The Good Wife, Season 6, Episode 16: “Red Meat”
Written by Nichelle Tramble Spellman
Directed by Michael Zinberg
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on CBS
After sixteen episodes of build, the day has finally come, and the fictional voters of The Good Wife’s bizarro Illinois have spoken. It’s a foregone conclusion the moment that Alicia says that she’s “relieved” to be behind in the first exit polls: Alicia wins, aided by some last-minute dirty manoeuvring by Peter. While the State’s Attorney run hasn’t made for the most riveting stretch of the series by any means, its conclusion at least underlines that Alicia will no longer be able to rationalize herself as “the good guy,” and perhaps in the letting go, she can find an acceptable way forward. She’ll never be Frank Prady – a man so principled that he can’t even bring himself to work for Alicia,...

Alicia Florrick loses, then wins, then loses again in this week’s episode of The Good Wife — though only one of those outcomes pertains to her run for State’s Attorney.
Then again, the way showrunners Robert and Michelle King keep twisting the narrative in Season 6 — and playing with our protagonist’s drifting desires (i.e. “the thing is, losing is actually a relief”) — the results may, in fact, be too early to call.

Aaron Sorkin returned to the world of television this year with HBO’s The Newsroom, and while I didn’t hate the show as much as some did, it was a far cry from the glory days of The West Wing. For those feeling nostalgic, or for the West Wing obsessed (of which I’m a card-carrying member), a video has surfaced called "Walk and Talk the Vote" which reunites a large chunk of the show’s cast. The ad is in support of Bridget Mary McCormack, a non-partisan candidate for Michigan State Supreme Court, but it touches on the importance of all non-partisan voting. It’s great to see Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Joshua Malina, Mary McCormack, Janel Moloney, Melissa Fitzgerald and even Lily Tomlin back together, but I really would’ve loved to see Rob Lowe return and complete the “original five.” Nevertheless, hit...

It's been six years since The West Wing left television (and in my book, it's more like a decade since I couldn't keep going after Aaron Sorkin left the show), but it will always be one of the best programs in the medium's history. It was inspiring, funny, smart, and moving, both emotionally and with people constantly moving. The "Walk-n-Talk" was one of the show's memorable devices, and that device has now been appropriated to promote the fitness campaign, "Everbody Walk". Funny or Die has put together an amusing video for the campaign featuring West Wing cast members Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Dulé Hill, Joshua Malina, Melissa Fitzgerald, and William Duffy reprising their roles and poking fun at the classic show's beloved trademarks. The cast of NBC's "The West Wing" has reunited for the first time in more than five years for a Funny or Die video promoting something everyone should do. Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Joshua Malina, Dulé Hill, Melissa Fitzgerald and William Duffy all reprise their roles in the name of this good cause. Hint: It involves a massive walk and talk, the kind the show made famous. Democrats and Republicans do it. So do kids, religious fundamentalists, environmentalists, active military (they do it a lot, actually) and almost everyone else who can.
