Fite received a B.A. in Communications and Theatre Arts from the University of Iowa and moved west to Los Angeles shortly after graduation. In L.A. he has worked with several prestigious theatre companies such as The Actors' Gang, Theater of NOTE, and The Padua Hills Playwrights' Festival where he appeared in productions by acclaimed playwrights Murray Mednick, Marlane Meyer, and John Steppling. In 2016, Fite appeared as a curious "surfer dude" on stage with the L.A. Philharmonic Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall in a production of La Mer as part of L.A. Philharmonic's Symphonies For Youth series. Fite is a founding member of the Los Angeles based comedy group 2 Headed Dog. "Individually they are brilliant, accomplished actors, as a team 2 Headed Dog is an unstoppable absurdist force." -Jason Weisberger, Boing Boing. Fite is also known for creating original roles in many long running hit comedy shows in L.A., including Bob's Holiday Office Party, The Rudy Casoni Show, Girly Magazine Party, and Clowntown City Limits. He has made multiple appearances at L.A. favorites Lucha VaVoom, Brookledge Follies, and the Magic Castle. In 2018, Fite began a residency at the Three Clubs in Hollywood portraying Tony Martini, a struggling lounge comic that assembles an all-star cast of comedians and variety performers for one more shot at the big time. Fite has appeared in numerous television shows, including SpongeBob SquarePants (26 episodes), MOM, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Bob Hearts Abishola, Scandal, Criminal Minds, Parenthood, Mike & Molly, Grey's Anatomy, Rizzoli & Isles, The Naked Trucker and T- Bones Show, Arliss, The Drew Carey Show, The Andy Dick Show, The Naked Truth, Tenacious D, Mr. Show, Friends, Seinfeld, and NewsRadio. In 2016, Fite was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Berlin Film Festival International for his role in the independent film, The Lost One. In 2023, Fite appeared in The Big Whoop, a feature film based on an original stage production (Clowntown City Limits) created by 2 Headed Dog. In 2024, he was cast in the independent feature, No Small Sacrifice and won Best Actor at The Block Island Film Festival in 2025. Fite has been described as "an inimitable comedic actor" .... "an offbeat every man" ... "a soulful character actor with a dusty down-to-earthiness".
