    • Jack Fjeldstad was born on March 24, 1915 in Kristiania, Norway [now Oslo, Norway]. He was an actor and assistant director, known for Le rescapé (1957), La légende de l'ours roi (1991) and Etter Rubicon (1987). He was married to Inger-Sofie Berg. He died on September 4, 2000 in Oslo, Norway.

  • He became Knight of 1st class of the Royal Norwegian St. Olav Order in 1985 for his outstanding work in Norwegian movies.
  • Will forever be remembered by Norwegians for his portrayal of WW2-hero Jan Baalsrud in the Acadamy Award nominated Le rescapé (1957), considered by many to be the greatest Norwegian film of all time. The harrowing scene where his character has to amputate his own toes to avoid gangrene from spreading has etched its way into the minds of generations of Norwegian movie-goers.
