Perhaps best known for starring in all five seasons of The CW’s telenovela satire Jane the Virgin, Camil is coming off of Apple TV+’s acclaimed musical comedy Schmigadoon!, which ran for two seasons.

Up next, the actor will be seen recurring in the second season of NBC’s Lopez vs. Lopez, also taking on a guest arc on the upcoming season of Acapulco for Apple TV+. Last month, Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro put out a call to the public, asking people to send ideas for music by Latin artists to submit to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry. It’s part of a years-long effort on Castro’s part to get more Latin art preserved within the Library of Congress and to increase Latino representation across media and pop culture.

The National Recording Registry is made up of works considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” or that “inform or reflect life in the United States.

Christian Nodal decided to celebrate the music of his country in a special way. In honor of Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 14, the música Mexicana star released his new EP México En Mi Voz. On the project, Nodal takes on mariachi classics by late Mexican icons Vicente Fernández and Juan Gabriel.

“I love my culture,” he says over Zoom. “I’m very proud of my country and the music from there. In this era of música Mexicana, there are a lot of different styles coming out that are being played around the world.

But with her R&b-tinged sound, up-and-coming singer Ilse Adriana Mercado Asencio, better known by her stage name Immasoul, is looking to show the world just how diverse that legacy can be, while championing the blending of Mexican and Caribbean cultures that collide in her hometown of Chetumal.

The much-awaited duet with Christina Aguilera and Alejandro Fernández is out, and moving fast through the Internet. “Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti” (“Today I Want You") will be the single for Univision’s soap opera “La Tempestad” ("The Storm") starring William Levy and former Miss Universe Ximena Navarrete.

"This album is a classic, a gem from my point of view. It has taken a long time because good things take time,” said Fernández in a press release. “Christina has an amazing voice, sweet but also very powerful and full of feeling. I feel very happy and proud of the result.”

It is not the first time Aguilera sings in Spanish. In 2000 the star of Ecuadorian roots released an album entirely in Spanish called "Mi Reflejo.” The singer has also recorded duets in the same language in the past with Latin artists like Ricky Martin and Luis Fonsi.

Music lovers in Newark, New Jersey are in for quite a treat this weekend. Not only will they get to enjoy Vicente Fernández perform one of his final concerts, they’ll get a special mariachi duet with Tony Bennett!

The legendary crooners are partnering up for one night only to perform the song “Regresa A Mí” Vicente and Tony previously recorded a studio version of the track for the upcoming Viva Duets album.

But getting the two on stage is sure to be a treat. Bennett and Fernandez performed a Spanish and English interpretation of the song for the Duets album and, if the fans are lucky, they could be singing both versions Sunday night.

And for the rest of us who can’t quite make the journey to Jersey, Viva Duets’ “Regresa” will arrive in stores on October 22. Let’s hope a live version bonus track comes with it.
