Lena Dunham is back behind the scenes on the small screen.
The multihyphenate has debuted the trailer for her upcoming Netflix rom-com series Too Much, out July 10, starring Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe.
In the preview, viewers see Stalter’s Jessica move to London in search of her “English dream” after a bad break-up in New York.
Though she initially feels like she’s “in hell” as she hears her loud neighbors fighting in her U.K. apartment, Jessica’s quickly charmed by musician Felix (Sharpe).
The trailer shows Jessica and Felix spending more time together as he wonders if she’s “one of those Love Actually girls” and they go on a tour of a picturesque neighborhood, which is less appealing to Felix.
“This is the London I came here for,” Jessica says as the trailer shows her posing in front of a blue door. “It’s like out of a movie.

Focus Features had the final slot of the Official Selection here in Cannes this evening with Ethan Coen’s Honey Don’t!, a dark comedy reuniting Margaret Qualley with the filmmaker on the heels of last year’s Drive-Away Dolls. Coen & Co. received a 6.5-minute ovation in the wee hours of the morning.
“Fun finish to the festival, yah?” said Coen to a lively crowd.
“It’s short for a movie that started after midnight,” added Coen about the movie’s 90-minute running time, “very humane!”
Qualley takes on the titular role of Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church led by a preacher played by Chris Evans.
Aubrey Plaza and Charlie Day also feature prominently in the cast, which additionally includes Billy Eichner, Lera Abova, Jacnier, Gabby Beans, Talia Ryder, Kristen Connolly, Lena Hall, Don Swayze,...

Welcome to Deadline’s International Disruptors, a feature where we shine a spotlight on key executives and companies outside of the U.S. shaking up the offshore marketplace. This week we’re talking to Rosie Fellner, who recently produced The Uninvited, a dark comedy starring Walton Goggins, Elizabeth Reaser, Pedro Pascal, Rufus Sewell and Lois Smith. The British producer talks about her career as a multihyphenate and why she’s passionate about supporting first-time filmmakers through her new shingle Rosebud Pictures.
Rosie Fellner loves a puzzle. “I love putting things together – I’m a doer and like the puzzle of putting financing together for projects I’m passionate about,” the UK native tells Deadline.
So, for Fellner, who began her career as an actor on cult British comedy TV series The Fast Show before taking roles in Michael Winterbottom’s The Trip, The Face of an Angel and, more recently,...

This is Mubi’s time. With studio specialty divisions almost a relic of the past and international and independent cinema soaring on the awards stage, the arthouse mini-studio founded by Efe Cakarel is cutting a growing swathe across the film landscape. Mubi is back on the Cannes Croisette with three films in Competition and another in Un Certain Regard.
Director Luca Guadagnino, a previous collaborator, is one of the company’s many fans in high places: “Mubi is a great and passionate company,” he says. “They will grow a lot as a business.”
Eye-catching growth has certainly been a hallmark of the company’s last few years.
Jason Ropell
Former investment banker and MIT graduate Cakarel founded the London-based company — then known as The Auteurs — back in 2007. These days, the headcount stands at more than 400 globally across 14 offices. And Cakarel believes that Mubi can become “many times its current size” in coming years.

Exclusive: We can tell you first that Amazon MGM Studios’ action comedy Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie is moving baa, err, back from Feb 20 next year to the Nov. 13, 2026 slot. Amazon MGM Studios has been in that pre-Thanksgiving corridor before with last year’s Dwayne Johnson-Chris Evans’ Santa Claus movie Red One. The reason behind the shift I hear is to pull in more families.
Currently, there’s only an untitled Universal movie on the pic’s new date.
The Kyle Balda directed, Craig Mazin written Working Title and Three Strange Angels production follows George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night he reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand, but never suspecting that not only can they understand but they argue for hours afterwards about whodunnit. Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry promoted their new film, Crime 101, at CinemaCon. The two Marvel actors will be joined by the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Monica Barbaro in Bart Layton’s crime film. The film is based on Don Winslow’s novella of the same name.
During their interview at CinemaCon, Berry shared an on-set incident without going into the ugly details of the matter. Here's one you might not have "herd" about: Hugh Jackman is trading his Wolverine claws for Shepherding horns, as he is starring alongside Emma Thompson in Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie. The movie, as you may have guessed from its very specific title, is a detective story involving sheep, but since that is a slightly elusive and broad premise, the MCU actor appeared in a video segment at CinemaCon 2025 to provide a few more details about it. He also unveiled the first footage for the upcoming Amazon feature, which he describes as "a bit of a whodunit."
The footage, shown during the Amazon MGM Studios panel on Wednesday night, which was attended by The Hollywood Reporter, was succeeded by Thompson expressing her joy and enthusiasm for the project. "It was, as you'll see from the clip, the most fantastic, loving, beautiful idea, this synthesis between animals and people,...

Hugh Jackman will soon be in his shepherd era.
The multi-hyphenate’s upcoming film, Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, got a CinemaCon reveal Wednesday night during the Amazon MGM Studios presentation inside the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Jackman and co-star Emma Thompson appeared in a video segment during the event to tease the film. “It was, as you’ll see from the clip, the most fantastic, loving, beautiful idea, this synthesis between animals and people,” she said.
Added Jackman about the film Kyle Balda directed from Craig Mazin’s script: “Craig Mazin’s wit is just second to none.”
The footage from the movie included, unsurprisingly, plenty of sheep. “The movie is a bit of a whodunit, which is always fun,” Jackman said in one behind-the-scenes clip. “The movie has such heart.”

Rounding out the packed cast are Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Tate Donovan, Devon Bostick, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Nick Nolte.
“In the driver’s seat of this exciting ride is none other than our fearless director, Bart Layton,” Berry told the crowd about the movie that features Ruffalo as a detective attempting to track down those responsible for a string of jewelry heists.

“To all of the dreamers and young filmmakers out there, tell the stories you want to tell,” Quan said onstage after she, Baker and Coco accepted the award. “Tell the stories that move you. I promise you, you will never regret it.”
“I want to thank the Academy for recognizing a truly independent film,” the director shared. “This film was made on the blood, sweat and tears of incredible indie artists.”
Anora, a film about an exotic dancer marrying the wealthy son of a Russian oligarch, won five out of the six categories for which it was nominated, including Best Picture.
Baker also won the Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing categories.

With 2025 marking 23 years since Hollywood legend Halle Berry received her historic Best Actress Oscar, she admits she's "tired" of being the only Black Woman to receive the accolade. While she's grateful to have "opened that door," the acclaimed actor desperately wants another Black female to win the Academy Awards' top prize.
Speaking on Trevor Noah's What Now? podcast (via People), Berry delved into her Oscar win for her performance in Monster's Ball and what her victory means decades later. Though Berry remains grateful to have made history at the Academy Awards, she hopes Wicked's Cynthia Erivo ends the long wait for a Black Best Actress winner as she doesn't want to be "occupying that space alone" anymore. "I hope this year someone stands next to me,” Berry said. “This year, I hope it happens because I'm tired of occupying that space alone.”

And now for the final word on who will win the gold Sunday at the 97th Oscars.
Since Cannes in May I have been reviewing the movies, assessing their awards potential, predicting the Oscar nominations, and now finally here is my best and Final guess as to who and what will emerge triumphant in all 23 categories for the 2025 Academy Awards. So much has been written, so much has been talked about, and actually overall for me it has been a swell year for movies, at least good ones, or at the very least enough good ones to make this lineup of nominees for Oscars a deserving one.
Let me caution these are my predictions, some still shaky, but not necessarily what I might have voted for. In other words, this is not a wish list but rather a reflection of where the long and ever-unwinding road stood as Oscar balloting ended on February 18 at 5 p.

“Conclave” won Best Film at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards, leading the pack with four BAFTAs overall. The British equivalent of the Oscars took place February 16 from the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in central London, honoring the best in film for its 78th annual edition.
Edward Berger’s “Conclave” led all films with 12 BAFTA nominations, and it won Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay for Peter Straughan, and Best Editing. At a BAFTA Awards where there was no clear frontrunner going into the ceremony, British Academy voters chose to largely share the spoils when it came to handing out honors.
But only one could win the top prize of best film, and this year that went to “Conclave,” which had entered the night with the most number of nominations (11). Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller wound up tying with Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” with four BAFTA wins each. The last two years of the BAFTA Awards told opposite stories of how Britain’s most prestigious film honors correspond with their American counterpart, the Oscars. In 2023, they went wholly in their own direction, voting differently from AMPAS in all major categories — showering Edward Berger’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” with gold and all but ignoring Oscar darling “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Last year, however, they matched the Oscars in every category save for best visual effects, as Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” ran the table on both sides of the pond. The BAFTAs, in other words, are either the most crucial Oscar precursor or the most rogue; either way, pundits watch them with bated breath.
When BAFTA voters go their own way, it’s often in favor of contenders close to home. Berger’s follow-up to “All Quiet,” the well-liked Vatican thriller “Conclave,” is the only British...

More than 10,600 registered Gold Derby users voted for the 2025 Gold Derby Film Award winners — an all-time record — and they picked Brazil’s political biopic I’m Still Here as Best Picture. That makes it just the second non-English-language film to take top honors, following South Korea’s Parasite, which prevailed five years ago. Scroll down for our list of winners in all 22 categories and to watch many individual acceptance speech videos.
I’m Still Here defeated an eclectic group of rivals for Best Picture, including fellow international films All We Imagine as Light and Emilia Pérez, big-budget blockbusters Dune: Part Two and Wicked, indie comedy Anora, epic immigration tale The Brutalist, tennis love triangle Challengers, papal thriller Conclave, and body-horror satire The Substance. The victory was so decisive, in fact, that I’m Still Here won all four of the awards it was nominated for, also claiming Best Actress (Fernanda Torres), Best Adapted Screenplay,...

On the morning of the 97th Oscar nominations, the words “nominees to be determined” were on everyone’s mind. Half of the Best Picture nominees — “The Brutalist,” “Emilia Pérez,” “I’m Still Here,” “Nickel Boys,” and “The Substance” — were announced without specific details over which producers would be eligible to attend and accept on the film’s behalf if it were to win. Animated Feature contenders “Flow” and “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl” and Best Documentary Feature nominee “Sugarcane” were also announced without producers. The omissions sparked enough discussion that The Academy began selling “Nominees to Be Determined” tee shirts on its website.
The Academy determined the remaining nominations on Monday, February 10, announcing the producers for each remaining film. The list came with some notable omissions, particularly in the case of “The Brutalist.” Joining Brady Corbet as nominees are producers Nick Gordon, Brian Young, Andrew Morrison, and D.J. Gugenheim — not Mona Fastvold,...

When the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its Oscar nominations on Jan. 22, it was surprising to see quite a few films nominated for best picture, best animated feature and best documentary feature listed alongside a mention that specific nominees were “still to be determined.”
In some cases, this was because the Producers Guild of America, to which the Academy defers on best picture nominee credits, had not yet determined which producers were awards-eligible. In other cases, contenders were simply late turning in their own paperwork.
But the bottom line is that on Monday, the Academy shared a list of which individuals designated as nominees had been confirmed by the organization for Oscar nominations in those categories.
The newly confirmed nominees, who bring the total number of individuals nominated for awards at the 97th Oscars to 220, are as follows:
The Brutalist (A24): Nick Gordon, Brian Young, Andrew Morrison,...

The Academy has issued a list of eligible producers in the Animated Feature, Documentary Feature and Best Picture categories, with the list making “Emilia Pérez” director Jacques Audiard a rare four-time nominee this year and increasing the tally for “The Substance” director Coralie Fargeat and “The Brutalist” director Brady Corbet from two nominations to three.
Audiard is now nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Song. He joins a short list of quadruple nominees for the same film, which also includes Orson Welles for “Citizen Kane” (with the Best Picture nom officially going to his company), Warren Beatty for “Heaven Can Wait” and “Reds,” the Coen brothers for “No Country for Old Men” (the editing nod under a pseudonym), Alfonso Cuarón for “Roma” and Chloé Zhao for “Nomadland.”
Farget and Corbet also have nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, with the Best Picture nominations adding to their totals.
