12 Actors Who Had Multiple Star Wars Roles
Image
For many years, the majority of "Star Wars" actors were identified by one signature role, save some of the shorter, alien-costumed actors like Jack Purvis, who played both the chief Jawa and Teebo the Ewok. That was when the entirety of the franchise was a mere trilogy of movies. Now, it's a never-ending spout of content featuring three trilogies, two theatrical spin-off movies, multiple streaming shows, and a cargo load of animation. With the expansion of the property across multiple media, reliable thespians have been called back by Lucasfilm, not only to reprise their old characters, but to double, triple, or more as multiple characters. We're not just talking about animation, in which versatile voice actors have been a tradition since the heyday of Mel Blanc. Many "Star Wars" actors in live-action projects have played more than one role, and this list is for them.

That's right -- this does...

10 Years Later, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man Remains Marvel's Greatest Missed Opportunity
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong for close to two decades now. It all dates back to 2008's "Iron Man." Directed by Jon Favreau, nobody could have expected Robert Downey Jr.'s turn as Tony Stark to build an empire that has led to well over $30 billion at the global box office, with Marvel Studios rapidly approaching its 40th feature film.

Though it may not get much credit, there was a moment in the summer of 2015 when it was clear that the MCU had hit a certain fever pitch with general moviegoers. That moment came when director Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man" hit theaters. By far one of the biggest swings Marvel took in terms of giving a character the spotlight who didn't have a guaranteed audience by any means, it became a sizable hit, taking in $519 million worldwide against a reasonable $130 million budget.

It helped catapult the already...

A Look At The 9 Billion-Dollar Movies Of 2019! (Photo Credit – Hotstar)

Hollywood has seen countless box office highs, but no year in cinema history matched the sheer dominance of 2019. That year didn’t just break records. It rewrote them. With the streaming revolution still in its early stages and global theatrical markets firing on all cylinders, 2019 marked the final crescendo of the pre-pandemic moviegoing era.

It wasn’t just about quantity or sequels. The variety of billion-dollar earners that year, including superhero finales, animated adventures, live-action remakes, and action spectacles, spoke to a moment when studios knew how to maximize nostalgia and event filmmaking. Audiences flocked to theaters worldwide, and in return, the box office delivered an unprecedented nine movies that crossed the $1 billion mark globally. No other year, not 2015, not 2022, has matched that figure.

One could also say that Hollywood had finally found the formula for minting billions at the box office.

Why Olivia Wilde's Dr. Remy Hadley Left House M.D.
Image
Across the eight seasons "House M.D." ran on Fox, the show created a colorful cast of misfit doctors around Dr. Gregory House, who could each push the cranky doctor out of his comfort zone as he worked tirelessly to save the lives of patients he couldn't stand. Taking the formula of a Detective Sherlock Holmes story and placing it into the context of a medical drama was TV gold, producing one of the best medical shows of all time, with a seemingly never-ending series of twists and turns for House to unravel.

And there is, of course, no Sherlock without his Watson, and luckily for Doctor House (or unluckily if you asked him), he had a whole team of Watsons to assist him. In the show's third season finale, House's team disbanded, and when "House" returned for its fourth season, it brought on a trio of new team members to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.

What’s Wrong With Hollywood and How to Fix It?
Image
A few weeks ago, we launched a contest inviting readers to submit personal essays about what’s gone wrong with the movie business—and how it might win back the audiences that seem to have largely abandoned it. We received many excellent entries, but five stood out as the best. We’ll be publishing one each day this week.

Here’s the fifth and final essay, courtesy of Mr. Mike O’Neill!

Back in 2019, massive hits like Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a live-action remake of The Lion King, and animated sequels to Frozen and Toy Story topped the box office and brought in huge audiences. But in 2020, movie theaters shut down due to the pandemic—and even though we’ve largely returned to normal, box office receipts are still far from where they once were.

While it would be easy to blame the pandemic or other obvious factors,...

Tony Gilroy gets candid about Star Wars shows and movies
Image
Tony Gilroy is not your typical Lucasfilm showrunner. While others wax nostalgic or dance around fan expectations, Gilroy almost speaks with candor and just enough edge to make headlines. In a new interview with Empire (via Jedi News), Gilroy steps beyond Andor to weigh in on Star Wars projects both theatrical and serialized.

His candid takes offer insight into the current and future state of the galaxy’s storytelling.

When The Mandalorian debuted with the Disney+ platform on November 12, 2019, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, via Din Djarin and Grogu, changed everything we knew about the galaxy far, far away. Suddenly, there was a small-screen component in a franchise that had, to date, largely relied on theatrical releases and comics.

Gilroy previously credited it for giving Lucasfilm new room to breathe, saying, “No Baby Yoda, no Andor,” in a past ComicBookMovie interview, pointing out that the show’s success paved the...

When Kevin Feige Revealed Why Iron Man Would Never Return Despite Robert Downey Jr.’s Comeback As Doctor Doom: “We Are Going To Keep…”
Image
What Did Kevin Feige Once Say About Robert Downey Jr.’s Possible Return As Iron Man?(Photo Credit –Wikimedia/Facebook)

Ever since Iron Man was released in 2008, people fell in love with Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of the Marvel superhero. He wooed us with his charms and tricks as Tony Stark, a “billionaire, genius, and a playboy.” He created a unique weaponized suit of armor while being captive in an Afghan cave. Stark came out of it and not only ruled the Marvel world as Iron Man but also ruled over millions of fans’ hearts.

Downey Jr. continued to appear as Iron Man for years in his standalone movies and the Avengers installments. The actor made the character incredibly iconic and approachable to the audience. However, when he died in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, the whole fandom was heartbroken and devastated.

Many fans started to speculate about his possible return to the universe.

Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Best Movie’ That Landed Him Iron Man Quietly Turned 20, and Starred Three Superheroes
Image
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is the criminally underrated neo-noir black comedy that reintroduced the world to Robert Downey Jr. in a different light. The feature has turned 20 now, and marked Shane Black’s directorial debut in 2005, where Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan starred alongside the most beloved Marvel star.

But here’s the kicker, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang turned out to be the cult classic that gave us our Iron Man. This gloriously chaotic movie starred three actors who played superheroes, so let’s dive into the film’s brilliance, its creatives, and how it became Downey Jr.’s turning point!

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang: The underrated gem that starred superheroes Robert Downey Jr. in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang | Credits: Silver Pictures

This Spider-Man Co-Star Missed Out On Two Other Marvel Roles First
Image
Those pursuing acting careers in Hollywood seek out as many auditions as they can. The roles and projects they find themselves reading for vary in scale, whether it be a bit part on a network sitcom or a character in a major film franchise, along with everything in between. As far as massive franchises go, getting cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already a major milestone, but to also be in the standalone films featuring the most famous Marvel superhero of them all, Spider-Man, is somehow on another level.

By the time "Spider-Man: Homecoming" swung into theaters, Tom Holland had already made his big-screen debut as the McU's Peter Parker in "Captain America: Civil War." Holland's first standalone outing as the webhead was a coming-of-age film that evoked the vibes of John Hughes' seminal classics, such as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (which was directly referenced and featured in...

Here’s why Scarlett Johansson is the newest global box-office champ
Image
Scarlett Johansson's so money — and now everyone knows it.

With an assist from some rampaging dinosaurs, the Oscar-nominated actress is officially Hollywood's highest grossing lead actor at the worldwide box office, surpassing previous record-holder (and fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe veteran) Samuel L. Jackson. Three other MCU alums, Robert Downey Jr., Zoe Saldaña, and Chris Pratt, round out the top five.

That data comes fresh from the box office tracking site The Numbers, which lists Johansson's cumulative global gross at $14.8 billion versus Jackson's $14.6 billion.

The extra bump can be credited to Jurassic World: Rebirth, which roared its way to an opening weekend tally of $318.3 at the worldwide box office and $147.3 million in the U.S. alone. Despite largely mixed reviews, the seventh installment in the Jurassic franchise proves that audiences young and old still enjoy seeing famous faces like Johansson and Rebirth costars Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali running...

Image
There’s a lot happening in the world of Star Wars movies right now. Some projects are moving forward fast, while others are slowing down or even getting paused. One thing that’s locked in is The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is being directed by Jon Favreau. That movie has an official release date and is set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

But that’s just one part of the bigger picture. Lucasfilm has a bunch of other films in development too. Directors like Shawn Levy, Dave Filoni, James Mangold, and Taika Waititi are all working on their own Star Wars projects. Most of these are still in the early stages, but fans are paying close attention, hoping for more updates soon.

Now, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman, another project might be added to the growing list.

There’s a lot going on with Star Wars movies right now, and while some projects are moving forward, others seem to be hitting pause. One film that’s definitely happening is The Mandalorian & Grogu, directed by Jon Favreau and set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

But that’s not all, there are also movies in the works from directors like Shawn Levy, Dave Filoni, James Mangold, and Taika Waititi. Most of these are still in early stages, but fans are keeping an eye out for more news.

Now it seems that yet another project will be added to the roster. Daniel Richtman industry insider, recently revealed that Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a spinoff related to sequel trilogy

Star Wars director shuts down return to the franchise
Image
It’s been nearly a decade since Rogue One reshaped the Star Wars story with a sharp departure from the Skywalkers and Tatooine. Now its director, Gareth Edwards, is officially moving on.

In a new interview with Business Insider, Edwards, who recently directed Jurassic World: Rebirth, which hit theatres over the Fourth of July weekend, made it crystal clear that he’s done directing Star Wars movies

“I’m very happy to move on and do my thing,” he said when asked about returning. “It’s the thing that was in my life before I knew what a film was.”

Edwards is, however, grateful for the ongoing love Rogue One receives, especially thanks to shows like Andor.

“It’s like your mom; it’s like something that's a part of you,” he reflected.

When Rogue One debuted in 2016 following Disney’s 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm, it was a gritty departure from the Jedi-centered Skywalker saga.

Forgotten 21% Rotten Tomatoes Hit Feels the ‘G-Force’ as It’s Overtaken by ‘F1’ at Global Box Office
Image
The mega-budget sports drama F1 has overtaken a bunch of blockbusters already, in only 10 days of release. But, among the most recent hits that the film passed at the global box office is one that has largely been forgotten, despite having made nearly $300 million worldwide. Released in 2010, the movie G-Force was co-produced by none other than Jerry Bruckheimer, who, funnily enough, also produced F1. G-Force followed a team of (literal) guinea pigs who are enlisted as spies by the government. The movie was produced on a reported budget of $150 million, and featured more than one Academy Award winner in its cast.

G-Forcegrossed $292 million at the global box office; F1, on the other hand, has made $293 million. Directed by the debutante Hoyt H. Yeatman Jr., G-Force featured stars such as Bill Nighy, Zach Galifianakis and Will Arnett in the live-action roles, and Nicolas Cage, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Penélope Cruz, Jon Favreau...

Star Wars veterans reunite for exciting new Disney Plus series
Image
What Jon Favreau accomplished with The Mandalorian can't be summed up in a few words. I mean, we shouldn't be surprised - this is the man responsible for kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man, so we should have expected some major things from him when it came to Star Wars. That's what we got when the Disney Plus series premiered back in 2019.

Arriving on the same day that the streamer went live, The Mandalorian quickly became one of the biggest shows in the world - or, should we say galaxy? - successfully bringing the classic Lucasfilm movie franchise to the small screen. There was no going back for Star Wars or series star Pedro Pascal, who became an overnight sensation (if he already wasn't one after his role on Game of Thrones). And now Mando is heading to the big screen in next year's The Mandalorian and Grogu,...

16 Movies You Didn’t Know Were Comic Book Adaptations
Image
No type of film has seen more repeated success this millennium than the comic book movie. Big-screen adaptations of Batman, Spider-Man, The Avengers and more are met with success time and time again. But there are plenty of popular films with comic book origins most people aren’t even aware of.

With “The Old Guard 2” now streaming on Netflix, here are 16 films you may not know are comic book adaptations.

“2 Guns”

Boom! Studios’ comic “2 Guns” by Steven Grant and Mateus Santolouco provided the basis for a Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg buddy cop movie of the same name. The film, directed by Baltasar Kormákur and written by Blake Masters, follows the two as a pair of undercover agents who are unknowingly attempting to take down the same drug lord. Though the five-issue series “2 Guns” came out in 2007, Grant and artist Emilio Laiso launched a six-issue follow-up book...

Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar-Nominated 79% Rotten Tomatoes Classic Is a Free Streaming Hit

Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street is back in the spotlight, and somehow, it's wilder than ever. The 2013 biopicis currently sitting at #7 on Pluto TV's most-watched list, reminding us all that, yes, America is still weirdly obsessed with stories about charismatic white-collar criminals. And if you missed it the first (or fifth) time around, now is your chance to watch the chaos unfold – for free. Some biopics want you to admire their subject. This one wants you to question your soul.

The Wolf of Wall Street follows Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, a real-life stockbroker who built a fraudulent empire by scamming rich people, blowing money on drugs, and turning the stock market into his personal Vegas. And somehow, we can’t look away. Maybe that’s the point. Belfort doesn’t just chase the American Dream – he injects it directly into his bloodstream. “That's the movie,...

Skeleton Crew creator gives optimistic update on season 2: 'I would love to make more'
Image
It's only been a few months since Skeleton Crew ended, but it feels like a lot longer. That's because it has been a busy year for Star Wars, thanks to Star Wars Celebration in Japan and the release of Andor season 2.

While Star Wars Celebration included a handful of announcements, there was no confirmation on the future of Jon Watts and Christopher Ford's coming-of-age adventure. The show, starring Jude Law and a group of talented young actors, was well-received. Even though Skeleton Crew is fine as a stand-alone adventure story, with the show being set during the New Republic era, there's a curiosity about the role it will play in the future of the Mandoverse shows.

Watts was interviewed by Collider's Steve Weintraub at the Mediterrane Film Festival, and asked about when fans can expect to see Season 2. He tried his best to be as discreet as possible...

Series creator Jon Watts finally addressed his future in the Star Wars universe, after the critical success of the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew. Watts is best known for his directorial work on Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ blockbuster Spider-Man MCU trilogy led by Tom Holland.

During a recent interview with Collider, when asked about the possibility of working on another Star Wars project in the future, Watts seemingly hinted that there might be something already in the works after sharing that he would get in trouble if he continued to talk about his future in the long-running sci-fi franchise.

"I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can't say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. [...] You're going to get me in trouble,...

A cut scene gives hope we'll see Pedro Pascal's face in The Mandalorian & Grogu
Image
The first time audiences got to see the face of Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin in The Mandalorian, everyone immediately wanted to know when it would happen again. Din has only revealed his face during several pivotal moments throughout the series, meaning that even if it doesn't happen often, when it does ... it hits even harder.

Pascal recently revealed that he suggested another scene that would have shown his face to Star Wars fans again. The way the season ended up playing out probably worked out better in the end, but maybe this is proof that Jon Favreau could have plans for yet another Din Djarin face reveal in 2026's The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Not much is known about the movie yet, but it's probably safe to assume both Din, being The Mandalorian, and his son Grogu, being Grogu, will both feature heavily in the upcoming theatrical release. Rumors have circulated...

After 20 Years, New Akira Movie Is Back in Development Hell in Disappointing Update
Image
After six years of near-silence, the live-action anime adaptation of Akira by Marvel filmmaker Taika Waititi is officially dead at Warner Bros. Discovery. The live-action film rights to the critically acclaimed anime movie will now leave Wbd after over two decades of development hell.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wbd has officially lost the rights to make a live-action movie based on Akira, the celebrated 1982 manga by Katsuhiro Otomo, which inspired the revolutionary 1988 anime film also directed by Otomo and produced by the studio behind Detective Conan, Tms Entertainment. Anime and manga media conglomerate Kodansha will now regain the film rights to the post-apocalyptic cyberpunk with the intent of finding another buyer. The THR report states that numerous producers and talents are already lining up for the chance to produce a live-action Akira movie. Wbd's loss is now potentially another Hollywood studio's gain.

Image
Fans of Star Wars may have more adventures to look forward to, as Jon Watts, the creator behind the popular series Skeleton Crew, has hinted at a possible second season and even a spinoff movie.

The first season, which came out over six months ago, introduced viewers to a group of young explorers from the planet At Attin traveling across the galaxy.

In a recent chat with Steve Weintraub from Collider at the Mediterrane Film Festival, Watts dropped some clues about what’s next for the show. He said, “I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can’t say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. […] You’re going to get me in trouble.” This suggests he’s eager to continue...

So Close, Yet Not Quite: 5 Movies That Nearly Made Box Office History With $1 Billion Grosses ( Photo Credit – Jio Hotstar; Facebook )

Crossing $1 billion at the global box office is one of cinema’s most elite milestones, symbolic of both critical acclaim and widespread audience appeal. For many studios, it’s a crown jewel target. Yet a handful of films have fallen just short of that mark, missing it by mere millions despite strong runs, glowing reviews, and cultural relevance.

These films did nearly everything right, massive worldwide appeal, strong legs at the box office, even awards recognition, but still ended up a few seats shy of the billion-dollar summit. Some were cut short by release timing, others by currency fluctuations or studio decisions to pull them from theatres too soon. Here are five movies that almost made it to the $1B club, ranked by their final global gross, as per Box office mojo.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Season 2 Teased by Showrunner (Along With Possible Movie)
Image
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew showrunner Jon Watts has dropped an exciting season 2 tease, potentially even hinting at a spinoff movie. It's been over six months since Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 1 introduced viewers to the planet At Attin, with a group of young adventurers traveling the galaxy.

Speaking with Collider's Steve Weintraub at the Mediterrane Film Festival, showrunner Jon Watts dropped what certainly seems to be a hint about Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 2.

"I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can't say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. [...] You're going to get me in trouble."

Creator of Hit 2024 Star Wars Series Teases His Franchise Future: “You’re Going to Get Me in Trouble” [Exclusive]
Image
Jon Watts lit the world on fire with his work on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which debuted at the end of 2024 and cemented itself as one of the best Star Wars projects ever. Skeleton Crew wrapped up its first season on January 14, and almost six months later, there has been no news about a potential Season 2. Collider’s Steve Weintraub recently moderated a panel with Watts (who has an exclusive deal with Disney) at the Mediterrane Film Festival, and he asked if he was done with the franchise, or if he could see himself returning:

"I love Star Wars, and I would love to make more Star Wars. I can't say anything more. We always get in trouble when we do these interviews. I always say something, and I get in trouble. Like, I probably shouldn’t have said that. [...] You're going to get me in trouble."

'Justified' Star's Forgotten 91% Rotten Tomatoes Dark Comedy Just Got a New Streaming Home
Image
Director Doug Liman is set to take on the seemingly insurmountable task of turning Stephen King's enormous magnum opus, The Stand, into a feature film. Twenty-six years ago, he tackled another project with a dizzying array of intersecting narratives and made a movie that won over critics but disappointed at the box office — and soon you'll be able to watch it at its new streaming home. The acclaimed 1999 crime comedy Go is coming to Paramount+ on July 1.

The film was Liman's third film, and the first after the sleeper-hit success of his sophomore effort, Swingers; that film not only launched Liman's career, but those of stars Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. Penning the script was John August; Go was his first produced screenplay, but he would go on to write the first two Charlie's Angels films, Guy Ritchie's Aladdin, and a litany of Tim Burton projects, including Big Fish,...

Kristen Stewart’s Forgotten 77% Rotten Tomatoes 'Jumanji' Spin-Off Returns to Streaming Soon
Image
Get ready for another space adventure, as Netflix will be adding an underrated yet critically acclaimed science fiction feature to its extensive library. Known as Zathura: A Space Adventure, the Jon Favreau-directed flick stars Kristen Stewart, Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, and Dax Shepard. Though the film failed to impress viewers with only a 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was well-received among critics, holding a current 77% score on the review aggregator. While largely forgotten, the space comedy is also remembered as one of the best films directed by Favreau, who went on to helm box office hits like Iron Man years after the film premiered in 2005. Now, the feature will be introduced to a new generation of viewers, as it gears up for its debut on Netflix on July 1.

Here's What The Star Wars Galaxy Actually Looks Like
Image
The first words anyone ever saw when George Lucas brought "Star Wars" to the world in 1977 were, "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away." Those words have anchored everything that has come in the nearly 50 years since. It is indeed a vast galaxy, full of wild species, vast and memorable alien planets, and endless wonders. But what does that galaxy actually look like? How big is it? We now have an answer to that question.

Lucasfilm has released a new, official map of the "Star Wars" galaxy via StarWars.com, which you can check out above. It is, in a word, impressive. (In two words? Most impressive.) We can see everything from the core worlds such as Coruscant all the way to the Unknown Regions containing planets like the Sith world of Exegol. We even see just how vast so-called Hutt Space, as in Jabba the Hutt and the Hutt crime lords,...

Kristen Stewart's Forgotten 20-Year-Old Jumanji Spinoff Hits Netflix Next Month
Image
In 2005, Kristen Stewart starred in a sci-fi adventure film that viewers may not have realized was a spinoff of the Robin Williams-led Jumanji. Now, 20 years later, that spinoff, Zathura: A Space Adventure, is heading to Netflix.

On July 1, Zathura will be added to Netflix's film library. Three years before Iron Man, Jon Favreau directed Zathura, which was an adaptation of the 2002 children's book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg, the author behind Jumanji. Like the 1995 movie, Zathura centers around a mysterious board game that causes nothing but trouble for those who choose to play it. In Zathura, those players are squabbling brothers Walter and Danny, played respectively by Josh Hutcherson and Jonah Bobo, who, upon starting the game, find that their house has been transported into outer space. In order to return to Earth, the brothers will need to survive and finish the game. Stewart co-stars in...

Pedro Pascal walks fans through his insane career in detail
Image
At 50 years old, Pedro Pascal might just be the biggest actor in the world. If you don't believe me, watch him look back on his career in a new feature from Vanity Fair, and you'll remember just how many big roles he's had over the past 10 years.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

That said, Pascal was working for a long time before he broke out. One of his earliest onscreen parts was as a college student named Eddie in a 1999 episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Eddie befriends Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) before getting promptly turned into a vampire and having to fight her later on. It's very entertaining to watch a young Pascal long before he blew up.

"This is one of the biggest jobs I ever got in my life," Pascal remembered. "Everybody was dying to be on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So when I got the season four premiere episode,...

Rumor: Star Wars could greenlight a trilogy of Mandalorian movies on one condition

A lot is riding on Star Wars' return to theaters next year with The Mandalorian and Grogu, including the future of Jon Favreau's beloved characters. Now, a new rumor suggests Lucasfilm has a long-term plan for The Mandalorian on the big screen.

Via The Direct, a new rumor from insider Daniel Richtman suggests Lucasfilm is ready to make The Mandalorian and Grogu the first part of a trilogy of Mandalorian movies. According to Richtman, "Lucasfilm reportedly plans to make 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' the first installment in a potential trilogy. It depends on how well the film does."

If true, this is big news for Star Wars, as not only will The Mandalorian and Grogu mark Star Wars' return to theaters for the first time since 2019, but it could also be...

Pedro Pascal Confirms One Mandalorian Season 2 Deleted Scene (& I'm So Glad It Was Cut)
Image
For as much as people yearn to see Pedro Pascal's face in The Mandalorian, the brilliant minds behind the Star WarsTV show tread around it carefully - most pointedly Pascal himself. He's admitted in the past that he asked for a helmet-less scene in The Mandalorian season 2 to be removed, and he got his wish. Now, he's elaborating upon it further, as well as the motivation behind it.

Speaking to Vanity Fair after watching Din Djarin and Grogu's goodbye scene in The Mandalorian season 2 finale, Pascal discussed the collaborative process with The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, particularly in terms of Din's meaningful, helmet-less moments. Pascal stated that in the season's penultimate episode, "Chapter 15: The Believer," there was yet another helmet-less scene initially planned - but Pascal opted to cut it.

Pedro Pascal: Jon Favreau is so collaborative that I remember having a conversation and there was an episode.

Friends Almost Had A Different Ross! This Actor Played Rachel’s Ex-Fiancé & Was Nearly Cast As The Lead
Image
David Schwimmer Almost Said No To Friends & Rachel’s Ex-Fiancé(Photo Credit –Facebook)

It’s nearly impossible to imagine Friends without David Schwimmer’s neurotic charm or his iconic delivery of “We were on a break!” But in an alternate TV universe, Ross Geller could’ve been played by someone very different – Rachel’s ex-fiancé, Barry.

Mitchell Whitfield, who ended up playing the jilted dentist Barry Farber, was this close to landing Ross. Per The Guardian, Whitfield actually auditioned for both Ross and Chandler. “I went back multiple times, and then they realised Ross was the role for me,” he revealed. He was one of the final contenders, until producers decided to bring in “one more guy.”

That guy was David Schwimmer. And just like that, Whitfield went from potential lead to minor recurring character. Barry may not have won Rachel’s heart, but he almost claimed Ross’s spot in the Friends gang.

The Best Disney Live-Action Remake, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
In 2010, Disney scored an unexpectedly large hit with Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," a film that cost a sizable $200 million to make but which inexplicably raked in over a billion dollars worldwide. I say "inexplicably" because the film wasn't terribly well-liked by critics; it currently holds an unimpressive 51% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although it had the same title as Disney's 1951 animated film "Alice in Wonderland," it was more of a sequel than a remake, following Alice (Mia Wasikowsa) back into Wonderland after she had already become an adult. There, she found the fantasy kingdom had been split by war and violence, leading her to don a suit of armor and take up a sword to make things right.

Disney had remade some of its animated movies before, but "Alice" ushered in a new trend for the studio. Over the 15 years that followed, Disney re-milked its own properties with pointed aggression,...

Star Wars Reportedly Planning a New Movie Trilogy Focused on the Mandalorian (Rumor)
Image
Star Wars is reportedly ready to commit to a new Mandalorian-focused movie trilogy. Next year's The Mandalorian & Grogu will mark the iconic sci-fi franchise's grand return to theaters. The Jon Favreau-directed epic is just one of several new movies planned from the galaxy far, far away. At this point, the franchise seems much more focused on one-off stories set in the star-faring universe rather than the trilogies that it is known for, at least that is according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

With all that said, Lucasfilm is reportedly already looking at a future for its most imminent theatrical release. According to a new insider report, the Star Wars brass is planning a new movie trilogy centered on Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin (aka the hero from the hit Mandalorian Disney+ series).

Known scooper Daniel Richtman shared the news on his Patreon page, writing that Lucasfilm sees next...

Pedro Pascal opens up about fan expectations and franchise pressure
Image
Pedro Pascal has portrayed the main character in The Mandalorian, The Last of Us, and Marvel's Fantastic Four. He currently has two major franchise films set to release soon, and he's in conversation for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Joel Miller in The Last of Us.

Pascal's busyness is well documented, and he's not ready to slow down anytime soon, but his high-profile roles in big franchises do come with a cost. There's added pressure with franchises because they often come with huge fan bases. CinemaBlend interviewed him on the set of his next film, Fantastic Four, where Pascal gave an insight into whether things have gotten any easier for him over the years.

According to Pascal, with each franchise, it only gets "scarier," as "Each time you step into one, and you feel like this can't be scarier,...

The Live-Action Jungle Book Remake That Everyone Forgot About
Image
Rudyard Kipling first published his novel "The Jungle Book" in 1894, and its sequel, "The Second Jungle Book," the following year. The books followed the adventures of a boy named Mowgli, a five-year-old who becomes lost in the jungles of India and who is taken in and raised by the local wildlife. He is taught the ways of the jungle, mostly by a benevolent panther named Bagheera. He also is given some more raucous advice from a bear named Baloo, and is taught to be wary of the vicious tiger, Shere Khan.

Most schoolchildren have read one or both of Kipling's "Jungle Book" novels, and it has been adapted to film multiple times. Director Zoltan Korda directed a rather fine 1946 Technicolor version, although more popular to today's audiences is the 1967 animated film directed by Wolfgang Reitherman. Walt Disney was credited as a producer, but he died shortly before "The Jungle Book" was released,...
