Dave Navarro and Perry Farrell, two members of the rock band Jane’s Addiction, filed lawsuits against one another over onstage and backstage altercations between them last September.
On September 13, 2024, a Jane’s Addiction concert in Boston stopped suddenly after Perry punched Navarro in an onstage altercation. In video footage of the Boston show captured by fans, the band’s frontman had been in the middle of performing “Ocean Size” when he began grunting and yelling at the crowd, “F— you.” He came up to Navarro and shoved him.
Perry then backed up but then attempted to confront him again while Navarro, the band’s guitarist, calmly tried to create space between them with his arm.
In turn, the frontman punched Navarro’s chest, causing several crew members to separate the two of them. They took the attacker offstage while the lights on the stage were lowered.

Perry Farrell has filed a lawsuit of his own against Jane’s Addiction members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins over the 2024 onstage altercation that derailed the band’s tour, his complaint coming just hours after the three members sued him earlier Wednesday.
In the complaint, filed Wednesday in Los Angeles and obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, Farrell maintains that the rest of the band were the original aggressors in the September 2024 incident that culminated with him punching Navarro on stage. He claimed in the suit that the band took part in a “years-long bullying campaign” where they harassed him onstage and attempted to “undermine him by playing their instruments at a high volume so that he could not hear himself sing without blasting his own in-ear monitors at an unsafe level.”

Seven months after Jane’s Addiction fell apart onstage in front of a live audience, lead singer Perry Farrell and the other band members have filed competing legal complaints against each other.
Guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins sued Farrell — who also founded Lollapalooza — for $10 million Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging the frontman’s “brutal and unprovoked” on-stage attack on Navarro last year caused the band to lose millions of dollars when they had to cancel tour dates and a planned new album.
The trio reunited with Farrell last year for the original lineup’s first tour together since 2010. Avery had long eschewed a reunion after battling drug addiction (and Farrell) and fearing life on the road might again lead to relapse. He didn’t have to worry. About two-thirds of the way through the band’s 50-city tour, Farrell ended the reunion when...

Just hours after Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery sued singer Perry Farrell over an infamous onstage altercation and its ramifications on the band, the frontman has sued his ex-Jane’s Addiction bandmates, citing assault and battery, bullying and harassment, and breach of contract, among other allegations.
As Variety reports, Farrell’s legal action is not a countersuit, but rather a separate lawsuit filed by Farrell, his wife Etty Lau Farrell, and his touring company against Navarro, Perkins, and Avery. A summary statement from Farrell’s lawyer, as emailed to Consequence from his publicist, reads as follows:
“As a founding member and creative force behind Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrell has always prioritized the band’s legacy and its supporters, which is why the events of September 13th, 2024 in Boston and the resulting fallout was so devastating. Without warning or consultation and using Perry as a scapegoat, Dave Navarro...

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has sued former bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins, just hours after the trio filed a lawsuit against him over an onstage scuffle last year. During a show at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion on Sept. 13, 2024, Farrell shoved Navarro near the end of his guitar solo for “Ocean Size” before Avery and crew members had to physically separate them. The band didn’t finish the concert, and audience-shot footage flooded social media feeds within minutes.

Jane’s Addiction members Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins filed a lawsuit against singer Perry Farrell Wednesday over Farrell’s infamous onstage altercation with Navarro that forced the cancellation of the band’s reunion tour.
Navarro, Avery and Perkins are seeking $10 million in damages, stating that’s how much they’d lost after the incident forced the cancellation. The band’s claims include intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract, while claims from Navarro specifically include allegations of assault and battery over the incident.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Wednesday and reviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, comes almost exactly 10 months after Farrell had thrown a punch at Navarro during the middle of the band’s performance in Boston last September. The show abruptly ended, and the rest of their reunion tour was canceled as the group broke up.

While the future certainly didn’t look bright for Jane’s Addiction following an onstage fight between singer Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro this past September, Navarro has seemingly put the last nail in the coffin for the legendary alt-rock band in a new interview.
As previously reported, Farrell shoved and punched Navarro onstage toward the end of Jane’s Addiction’s September 13th show at Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, ending the concert abruptly. The singer was pulled off the guitarist by Cleary and bassist Eric Avery, who then landed a couple of punches on Farrell. It was later reported that moments later, Farrell punched Navarro again backstage, this time in the face.
The band subsequently canceled the remainder of the tour, which was the first outing featuring all four classic members of the band — Farrell, Navarro, Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins — in 14 years. Farrell apologized for the incident,...

The first-ever Lollapalooza tour took place in the summer of 1991, and while Nine Inch Nails weren’t the headliner, there’s a consensus among the band’s peers that the industrial band stole the show on the inaugural edition of the traveling festival.
In the new book Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival (available here), fellow musicians assert they were blown away by Trent Reznor and company’s live performances that summer.

Producer Dave Jerden, whose work on seminal albums by Jane’s Addiction and Alice in Chains helped define the alternative-rock revolution of the late ’80s and early ’90s, has died at the age of 75.
The news of Jerden’s passing was shared by his son Bryan, who wrote on Facebook, “Our father David Jerden passed away peacefully in his sleep yesterday February 5th. It’s hard to express in words what he meant to me, my sister Michelle, and the rest of our family. He was larger than life and was deeply passionate about so many things, from history to science, but above all he was a music maker.”
He continued, “He worked with so many great artists and together they forged some very interesting and memorable musical pathways and of which I am very proud. We will miss his smile, his uncontrollable laughter, his mind-bending stories and great conversations.

Following an onstage fight that apparently broke up Jane’s Addiction, three of the four members are making new music together. Bassist Eric Avery, guitarist Dave Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins are recording new songs minus singer Perry Farrell.
Back in September, Jane’s Addiction made headlines when Farrell got into a physical altercation with Navarro during a show in Boston, at one point punching the guitarist onstage. As the two musicians were being separated, it appeared that Avery landed a few blows on Farrell. And a later report from a crew member revealed that Farrell punched Navarro again — this time in the face — backstage shortly thereafter.
The rest of the band’s tour was canceled, and while an official announcement was never made, Navarro suggested that the band had broken up in an Instagram post, saying, “I’m gutted that things ended this way.”

Francis Ford Coppola's most iconic film, The Godfather, was all held together by one big lie about the Corleone crime family. The Godfather is considered one of the best movies of all time, if not the very best, and for good reason. It's a masterpiece in nearly every way, from its fantastic story to the star-studded cast of The Godfather. It's difficult to imagine a way The Godfather could have been better, but it's much easier to imagine how it could have been worse. Interestingly, if The Godfather had been more truthful about one important part of its story, it would have ruined the film.
One of the most iconic parts of The Godfather is its bleak and grim portrayal of organized crime. The entire trilogy is filled with backstabbing, hits, shootouts, beatings, betrayals, and just about any other violent crime imaginable. While The Godfather is loved for its...

Donald Trump loves music. It does not love him back. But neither fact has ever been more obvious than this week, when he made his DJ debut. Even by his standards, it was a bizarre instant-classic trainwreck. At his Monday town hall event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, he quit taking questions from the crowd, and turned his campaign rally into a dance party. “Let’s not do any more questions,” Trump said. “Let’s just listen to music. Who the hell wants to hear questions?” Then he just stood there frozen in a 40-minute K-hole,...

There may not be another film with a more watchable and intriguing cast of characters than Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather. Every single member of the Corleone family is fascinating, from Vito (Marlon Brando) to Connie (Talia Shire), as well as the supporting characters who bring their own purpose and color to the gangster world. The antagonists of The Godfather have typically been the characters most often ignored, as it's understandable we are more intrigued by our protagonist's villainy. However, whilst most will name Barzini (Richard Conte) as the main villain of The Godfather, Virgil Sollozzo (Al Lettieri), also known as 'The Turk' is perhaps the more significant of the two, for what his actions lead to, and how his ties to real-life gangsters add a degree of realism to The Godfather.

Embattled singer Perry Farrell appears to be on shaky ground with his bandmates both past and present.
Adding to the fallout from his onstage fight with guitarist Dave Navarro and the possible disbandment of Jane’s Addiction, one of Farrell’s former bandmate in Porno for Pyros, bassist Martyn LeNoble, has posted an eviscerating takedown of the singer and his wife Etty Lau Farrell on social media.
“I can say, unequivocally, that Perry has been the worst frontman I’ve ever worked with,” LeNoble wrote in series of posts on X/Twitter Sunday night (September 29th). “Always a kind word, followed by shitty actions. The fish rots from the head down. I still don’t understand how he channeled some of those great lyrics & vocals on the first two Jane’s records.”

Jane’s Addiction have released the new song “True Love” — the second single from the band’s reunited classic lineup.
The track comes at an awkward time following the cancellation of the group’s remaining US tour dates due to singer Perry Farrell’s concerning behavior toward his bandmates. The turmoil culminated with Farrell throwing a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro during an onstage confrontation at a show in Boston last week, leading to Farrell being subdued by his stage crew and bandmates.
It was announced on Monday (September 16th) that the rest of the US tour would be cancelled, with Navarro and fellow Jane’s Addiction members Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins citing “a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell” in a joint statement. Farrell subsequently issued an apology to his bandmates and the fans.
