Biography

A noted theatrical actress and director. First on stage at the Hoftheater in Munich from 1890 and subsequently a key ensemble member of Max Reinhardt's at the Deutsche Theater, where she also taught courses in drama. Acted in several films of the 1920's, often in vampish roles.

She became a honorary member of the Deutsches Theater in 1945.

In memory of the great actress the city Bensheim awards the cultural prize "Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring" since 1986.

In 1923 she made her movie debut in "Das brennende Geheimnis" and in the following years she often played vamps.

She made her debut at the Hoftheater Munich in 1890 and became one of the most respected actresses in the following years. She had her greatest successes at Max Reinhardt's company.
