Dominic West (The Crown) and Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal) have signed on to star in War, a new legal thriller that has earned a two-season commitment from HBO and UK broadcaster Sky. West plays tech titan Morgan Henderson, with Miller as his estranged actress wife Carla Duval. Their scandalous London divorce case “sends shockwaves through boardrooms, bedrooms, and courtrooms alike,” per the official description.

Michael Jai White has been in a lot of film and TV projects over the last 35 years or so. But probably most beloved amongst his fans is “Black Dynamite,” the 2009 sendup of 1970s blaxploitation movies he conceived, co-wrote and starred in. As Byron Allen’s “Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen” is set to tape more than 130 episodes ahead of its late night debut on CBS.

As TheWrap previously reported, “Comics Unleashed” will be taking over the 12:30 a.m. time slot from “After Midnight.” Allen plans on filming 132 episodes of the comedy talk show, which is produced under Allen’s Entertainment Studios banner.

The series, which is heading into its 20th season, will officially air at 12:37 a.m. Et on Sept. 22 with back-to-back half-hour episodes. Episodes of the comedy talk show will then air Monday through Friday, with the series also available to stream live on Paramount+ for subscribers that have Paramount+ with Showtime.

Allen has had experience with this time slot before. Prior to “After Midnight,” CBS aired “Comics Unleashed” during the time slot as part of a limited run the network dubbed as successful.

Exclusive: Actor and comedian Mike Epps has signed with Artists First for management.

A veteran comic who launched his stand-up career back in 1995 with an appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam, which he’d go on to host years later, Epps has thus far put out six comedy specials, the most recent being Ready to Sell Out on Netflix in 2024. It was his fourth for the platform following Indiana Mike (2022), Only One Mike (2019) and Don’t Take It Personal (2015), his other past hours being Under Rated… Never Faded & X -Rated and Inappropriate Behavior.

Currently, Epps can be seen starring in Netflix’s sitcom The Upshaws, heading into its fifth and final season, which he also produces. A show about a working-class family, set in his Indiana hometown, the show has been nominated for 10 NAACP Image Awards, with Epps winning for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series in 2024.

Comedian Desi Banks is ready to step in front of the camera. The Atlanta-based standup is developing a half-hour sitcom project with BET Studios, loosely based on his own comedy routines. Per the logline, the multi-camera comedy will revolve around “a lovable yet stubborn comedian on the rise as he attempts to balance fatherhood, relationships, and the pursuit of his ever-present dream.”

Banks and Malcolm “Champ” Heaggans are writing the comedy, and will also serve as executive producers. The producers are touting the Atlanta synergy of the untitled comedy, given that Banks and Heaggans both hail from the city, while the show’s production companies include Atlanta-based Quality Films, as well as 3 Arts Entertainment’s new Atlanta office run by Jermaine Johnson.

Johnson is also an EP on behalf of 3 Arts, while Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas and Christopher Hicks are EPs for Quality Films. Terrence Battle is an additional exec producer.

Most every actor will have their ups and downs throughout their career, and Dakota Johnson knows this first-hand. Though her new film, Materialists, has been welcomed by critics, her last feature film, Madame Web, was an unmitigated disaster.

Johnson took a moment to address Madame Web during an appearance on the Hot Ones interview series from First We Feast. On the show, Johnson struggled with the spiciness of the wings, and leading to jokes made about how she should be able to handle it as a "superhero." For her part, Johnson made it clear that she "failed" with her attempt at becoming a superhero, much in the same way she's failing to handle spicy wings.

As the star of Madame Web, Dakota Johnson endured some heavy criticism leveled against the doomed Sony movie upon release last year. Her role in the movie even resulted in Johnson being given a "Razzie," a parody award bestowed upon the "worst" movies and performances each year.

The subject of Madame Web's rough reviews came up, and Johnson shared how, after she was declared a Razzie winner, she was contacted by Sandra Bullock for support. For her part, Bullock was already part of the "Razzie Club" after getting one for Worst Actress in 2010 for her role in the panned romantic comedy All About Steve. It seemingly softened the blow of getting a Razzie for Johnson, who was stoked to hear from such an "iconic" movie star during that rough patch.

Dakota Johnson starred in Madame Web, which was a box office flop amid the discussion of superhero movie fatigue.

In a new interview, the Materialists star says the film’s failure was due to some “people who don’t have a creative bone in their body.”

“It wasn’t my fault,” Johnson told The Los Angeles Times. “There’s this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. Or made by people who don’t have a creative bone in their body. And it’s really hard to make art that way. Or to make something entertaining that way.”

She continued, “And I think unfortunately with Madame Web, it started out as something and turned into something else. And I was just sort of along for the ride at that point. But that happens. Bigger-budget movies fail all the time.”

The finale drove 6.3M globally in its first six days of streaming, making it the biggest finale of the year across the two streamers, per Disney.

In fact, Disney also says its the third most-viewed finale ever for a Hulu Original, though the company didn’t give details on the top two finales for comparison.

The revelation was divulged directly by New Line president and Cco, Richard Brener, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He shared that a deal was just finalized for Ice Cube to return for a fourth Friday film that he'll also be writing in addition to returning to his on-screen role. It was also revealed that the sequel will be titled Last Friday, which might be the obvious way to go, though it's also perfect, coinciding with the theme set by the previous movies' titles.

Producer Will Packer is teasing the Girls Trip sequel and recently revealed he has a script for a follow-up film.

While appearing on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, Packer said that a sequel to the 2017 comedy is in the works.

“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time,” Packer told host Andy Cohen after a fan asked if the sequel would take place at the AfroFuture musical festival in Ghana.

Exclusive: Gabrielle Dennis (The Big Door Prize) and Michael Potts (The Piano Lesson) have joined the cast of Nemesis, a crime drama created by Courtney A. Kemp (“Power” Universe) and Tani Marole described as an action heist series in the vein of Power set in LA where the new series will film.

In series regular roles, Dennis will play ‘Candace Stiles’ and Potts will play ‘James Sealey.’

They join the previously announced cast of Matthew Law, Y’Ian Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park and Ariana Guerra.

Hulu jumpstarted its Emmys campaign for the limited series Good American Family on Thursday — rolling out the red carpet for a special premiere at the Directors Guild of America Theater Complex in Los Angeles. The ripped-from-the-headlines drama tells the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born orphan with a rare form of dwarfism who is adopted by a Midwestern family — only to be abandoned a year later when they start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. The eight-episode series debuts March 19 on Hulu.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has renewed its first-look feature film deal with George L. Tillman Jr. and Robert Teitel’s State Street Pictures.

The Bob Marley: One Love production company first inked a production pact with the studio in 2020. Tillman and Teitel’s film credits include The Hate U Give, the Barbershop franchise, Men of Honor, Soul Food and Notorious among others.

State Street Pictures’ executive suite also includes Robert Prinz, Head of Television, and Lawrence Mott, Head of Film.

According to Hulu, the drama is “inspired by multiple stories, perspectives, threats and accusations.”

The series previously had a working title of Orphan, but has now officially been titled, Good American Family. Starred in and executive produced by Grey’s Anatomy’s Ellen Pompeo, the series is set to air in eight episodes.

Meanwhile, the series is inspired by the true story of Natalia Grace and the Midwestern couple who adopted her believing she was a little girl with dwarfism. However, things are far more complicated as gradually, it is revealed that she may not be who she said she was.

Hollywood’s obsession with established characters and stories didn’t start with endless iterations of Marvel superheroes. From the earliest days of sitcoms, producers tried to cash in on the popularity of hit comedy movies by translating them into weekly television shows. Back in 2009, a horror film called Orphan told us the story of a married couple who adopts a 9-year-old Russian girl only to discover that she’s actually a criminal adult passing herself off as a child. The film was loosely based on the true story of Barbora Skrlova, a 30-something woman who pretended to be a 13-year-old and did some very twisted things that were very different than what we saw in Orphan. In 2012, a sad case that made it into news reports reminded people of Orphan. It was the story of Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian-born girl with dwarfism who was adopted by American parents who claimed to suspect she was much older than records said she was. The Grace case has been covered on Dr. Phil and the docu-series The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, and now the Hulu streaming service is moving forward with a Natalia Grace-inspired...

Ellen Pompeo’s familiar voiceover launches a new story with the anticipated trailer arrival for Good American Family.

“I’ve always considered myself blessed. I’ve known I was put on this Earth to build a world where all kids can feel safe,” she says in the first look at her Hulu series that releases on March 19 (below).

As the trailer continues, however, things are not how they seem.

Good American Family is a dramatization of the real-life story of Natalia Grace. Grace, who has a rare form of dwarfism known as spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, has had her story told across three seasons of the ID docuseries The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, which concluded in January.

Now comes Good American Family, which focuses on an earlier family who adopted Grace, the Barnett family, who are played by Pompeo (also an executive producer) and Mark Duplass. Natalia Grace is played by Imogen Faith Reid.
