Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group has ordered Seasons 9 and 10 of its nationally syndicated comedy game, taking the daily half-hour strip through 2026-27.

Hosted as always by Jon Kelley, Funny You Should Ask features a panel of professional stand-up comics who interact with contestants for cash, prizes and laughs. The stakes increase in every episode as contestants ask the comedians questions, with the comics giving humorous replies.

The second season of the game show “Lingo” hosted by RuPaul Charles has set its premiere date at CBS, Variety has learned.

The series will return on May 24 with two back-to-back episodes airing from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Et/Pt. It will then air at 8 p.m. on Fridays for the remainder of the season. Episodes will be available live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers or the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.

In “Lingo,” teams of two compete against each other in puzzle rounds to guess letters that reveal words. In a new twist for the second season, the winner of each episode will compete in the next episode for potentially bigger cash prizes.

The network will air four new episodes of the comedy game show Byron Allen Presents Funny You Should Ask from 8-10 p.m. Saturday, December 9. Licensing groups representing comedians, including the estates of Robin Williams and George Carlin, will not have to face a suit in sprawling litigation accusing them of monopolizing the market for the rights to the recordings of “superstar” comics.

A federal judge on April 5 dismissed Pandora’s countersuit against Word Collection and Spoken Giants, rejecting antitrust arguments from the audio company faulting the group for its alleged failure to assemble a viable comedy streaming service. U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi found that the comedians reasonably bargained collectively in the pursuit of higher royalties on top of getting paid for a copyright license that has historically been overlooked.

The dispute revolves around a feud between streamers and comedians pushing to change the landscape of compensation. The comics raise novel licensing theories claiming that they should be paid for writing their jokes, much in the same way that musicians are paid royalties for composing song lyrics.

Pandora has been stopped from advancing an antitrust lawsuit against comedians, including the estates of Robin Williams and George Carlin, accusing them of monopolizing the market for the rights to the recordings of their routines.

A federal judge on Wednesday dismissed Pandora’s countersuit against the comedians and their licensing group Word Collection, finding the audio giant failed to connect the agency’s “impressive but short list of comedians whose work it licenses” to the company’s inability to assemble the “critical mass needed to offer a viable comedy streaming service, especially when it offers recordings by several thousand other comedians.” While she allowed Pandora another chance to fix its antitrust claims, the judge was skeptical it could sufficiently do so.

“The court doubts whether Pandora can allege the necessary facts at this stage,” writes U.S. District Judge Mark Scarsi.

Blue Collar Comedy Tour and Dancing With the Stars veteran Bill Engvall said Wednesday that he would no longer tour as a stand-up comic: “I, at the end of 2022, will be stepping back from being a touring comedian.” He said it was the right time.

“You reach a point in your life when you knew it was time,” Engvall said in a Facetime Live with fans. Engvall seemed content as he spoke about wanting to spend more of his life at home with his wife Gail and new granddaughter. “I want to be a part of all this,” he said.

“I’m not retiring,” Engvall emphasized. “I’ve got a lot of little film and TV opportunities that are headed my way.” He promised he would also be “heavy” on social media, hopefully making people laugh.

In fact, Engvall is heading out on the road one last time to say “goodbye” to fans.

Bill Engvall is signing off. The comedian is set to announce Wednesday morning that he is saying goodbye to stand-up, launching the farewell tour “Here’s Your Sign, It’s Finally Time” later this summer and into next year.

Comedian Bill Engvall has signed on to star as host of the new weekly Circle TV series “Blue Collar Auction.” The series, from Venture 10 Studio and Parallel Entertainment (which founded the Blue Collar Comedy Tour), “Blue Collar Auction” will feature Engvall as head auctioneer, engaging viewers in competition as various items are sold to the highest bidder.

The series will auction off collectors’ items, such as celebrity memorabilia and automobiles, to virtual buyers. The show will also focus on the personal stories behind the items.

“I love making people laugh,” said Engvall, who also serves as executive producer. “I’m a collector myself, so who knows? Maybe I’ll even trick myself into buying something.”

NBC has signed on to broadcast Byron Allen’s “Feeding America Comedy Festival” benefit featuring segments by a number of famous comedians including Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler and Tiffany Haddish, the network announced Thursday.

“There’s nothing more important right now than doing everything we can to make sure everyone affected by this pandemic is able to feed themselves and their families,” said Doug Vaughan, executive vice president of special programs for NBC Entertainment. “We’re honored to be partnering with Feeding America and the amazing work they’re doing to make sure there is food on everyone’s table.”

Announced last week, the charity event will raise money for Feeding America. It is also set to air on Allen Media Group’s TV networks Comedy.TV and The Weather Channel, as well as on the free streaming service app Local Now on Sunday, May 10 starting at 7 p.m. Et.

NBC has partnered with Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios and Funny or Die to air a two-hour comedy special on Sunday, May 10, benefiting Feeding America, a hunger-relied organization.

“There’s nothing more important right now than doing everything we can to make sure everyone affected by this pandemic is able to feed themselves and their families,” said Doug Vaughan, NBC Entertainment’s executive vice president of special programs. “We’re honored to be partnering with Feeding America and the amazing work they’re doing to make sure there is food on everyone’s table.”

Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal and Tiffany Haddish are among the all-star comedian lineup slated for Byron Allen’s Feeding America Comedy Festival livestream, which will raise funds for the hunger relief organization’s network of food banks.

Netflix has announced a slew of release dates for content premiering on the service next month. “Reckoning,“ an Australian thriller series about a dormant serial killer getting up to his old habits, premieres on May 1; “Trial by Media,” a new true crime docuseries about how media coverage has impacted high-profile trials, debuts on May 11; “Sweet Magnolias,” a romantic drama adapted from Sherryl Woods’ novel series of the same name, will premiere on May 19; “Ben Platt Live from Radio City Music Hall,” a recording of a live performance by the actor and singer-songwriter, will premiere on May 20 and Season 3 of “Somebody Feed Phil,” the travel documentary series presented by Phil Rosenthal, premieres on May 29.

Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Tiffany Haddish and more comedians have signed on to perform comedy sets from home for the “Feeding America Comedy Festival.”

Put together by Bryon Allen through Entertainment Studios, the television division of his Allen Media Group, the charity event is seeking to raise money for Feeding America and is co-produced by Funny or Die.

The event will live-stream on the Allen Media Group television networks Comedy.TV and The Weather Channel and on the free streaming service app Local Now from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Et on Saturday, May 9.

It’s not about whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game — unless you’re Mike Baxter, that is. And this fact is more clear than ever on Thursday’s “Last Man Standing,” which sees Mike (Tim Allen) attempt to get his wife Vanessa (Nancy Travis) to join his bowling team.

In TheWrap’s exclusive clip from the episode, which you can view above, Mike comes home with a bottle of “fancy” wine for Vanessa and tries to pretend there’s no ulterior motive behind the act of kindness — but Vanessa knows better than that.

“The Masked Singer” brings together its nine remaining Season 3 contestants, dubbed the “Super Nine,” for the first time on Wednesday’s special two-hour episode. Those costumed celebrities are the ones who made it through the championships rounds for Group A, B and C over the first nine episodes of the Fox singing competition’s third season. Under this one, highly, highly specific circumstance, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg’s logic isn’t bad.

Fact Number 1: The Masked Singer‘s first two seasons featured one legendary vocalist apiece — Gladys Knight as Season 1’s Bee, and Patti Labelle as Season 2’s Flower. Fact Number 2: Season 3 already has unmasked Miss Monster, who was revealed to be R&b diva Chaka Khan. So when Wahlberg noted Wednesday that it wouldn’t make sense for the Fox reality show to give us an additional take-you-to-church vocalist this season, she’s right.

“The Masked Singer” moved on from its first crop of Season 3 contestants with its Wednesday episode, which introduced viewers to six more of the third season’s 18 competitors: Banana, Elephant, Kitty, Taco, Mouse and Frog.

Those masked singers are part of Group B, a lineup that will compete over the next two weeks until it’s been whittled down to three contestants — just as Group A was condensed to White Tiger, Turtle and Kangaroo over Season 3’s first three episodes — who will then move on to the finals. And the same will then happen with Group C.

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d type: I have heard a taco sing, and its song was sweet.

But such thoughts were commonplace as The Masked Singer brought out a new group of contestants in Wednesday’s episode, introducing the audience to Frog, Kitty, Elephant, Mouse, Banana and — yep — Taco. Have I been watching this show too long, or were most of them objectively good entertainers?
