Maggie, who has carried the pain of Glenn’s death for years, finally stood face to face with Negan, the man responsible. But when it came time to end things once and for all, she made a different choice.
The episode featured intense moments, especially as Negan went up against Bruegel, a new and dangerous threat played by Kim Coates. The two were fighting for control over a powerful resource, methane produced by walkers, which could restore energy to parts of New York City.
While that played out, Maggie was sent on a personal mission. The Dama, played by Lisa Emery, pushed her to take out Negan for good. It seemed like Maggie was ready. With her son Hershel urging her on and her grief weighing heavy,...

The Season 2 finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City has officially come and gone with no news surrounding its hopeful Season 3 return. Unlike its sibling spin-off production, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, the title wasn’t given the greenlight for a follow-up ahead of its premiere, leaving audiences as dark as Manhattan by the time the credits rolled last night. And, if you, as a fan, were looking for some solace from universe head Scott Gimple, let’s just say he’s not necessarily the person to turn to in your time of uncertainty.
During a chat with TV Insider that ran following the Season 2 finale, Gimple left things up in the air whether Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan and Lauren Cohan’s Maggie would continue their story in another set of episodes. On one hand, he offered a glass-half-full perspective, telling the outlet, “I will say this, there’s...

[This story contains spoilers from The Walking Dead: Dead City season two finale.]
Almost a decade ago, The Walking Dead took a baseball bat to its sprawling ensemble and changed the course of the show forever. Hard as it is to believe, Steven Yeun’s Glenn was smashed out of the story all the way back in 2016. Nearly 10 years on, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie has yet to satisfy vengeance against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the man who giddily beat her husband to death. At long last, Maggie finally had Negan dead to rights in the season two finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City, the spinoff show starring these two blood-crossed rivals — and just as she got up at bat, she decided to walk away from the plate.

Dead City season 2 ended with Maggie almost killing Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), only to spare him after learning Ginny (Mahina Napoleon) died. This puts the pair on the same team, alongside Perlie (Gaius Charles), as they watch New Babylon's army march on Manhattan. Hershel (Logan Kim) has also sided with the Dama (Lisa Emery), with Maggie now determined to stay and change her son's mind.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Owen Danoff about The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 finale, Cohan explained how she doesn't believe Maggie's story will end in Manhattan. Instead, she wants her story to come full circle, both for the spinoff itself, and when considering her journey in the original series.

“The Ultimate Finish”: Lauren Cohan Reveals ‘The Walking Dead’ Reunion She's Manifesting [Exclusive]
After The Walking Dead came to an end back in 2022 following a staggering 11-season run, several of its primary members struck out on their own. Daryl (Norman Reedus) ended up on the shores of France with his bestie Carol (Melissa McBride) not far behind in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, while separated spouses Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) found their way back to one another in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Meanwhile, an unlikely allyship was formed between archenemies Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in The Walking Dead: Dead City. And, although each offshoot has proved its potential thanks to impressive viewership numbers, there are many fans who would give everything to see the full band back together again. In fact, it isn’t just the universe’s sprawling following that would love to see a reunion, with Cohan recently marking herself...

There are fewer obstacles in their path, it seems, with Kim Coates‘ Bruegel meeting a brutal end, thanks to an enraged Negan. The latest season of The Walking Dead: Dead City is coming to a close, and things are looking intense. A new sneak peek shared by Collider shows a tense moment that could shape how the season ends , and maybe even whether the show comes back at all.
In the short clip, Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, appears to be gearing up for a major confrontation. After last week’s cliffhanger, it’s clear he’s not backing down. This week, Bruegel, played by Kim Coates, shows up with his group, and the mood turns serious right away.
When Bruegel asks about The Croat (Željko Ivanek), Negan casually says he’s on “a leave of absence.” What happens next is unexpected, Negan offers a fancy-looking feast to Bruegel and his followers. But the vibe is off. Something feels wrong, and the teaser cuts off before we find out what he’s really planning.

Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) family is on The Dama’s (Lisa Emery) mind in an exclusive to Collider sneak peek of this week’s episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Titled “Feisty Friendly,” the installment, which arrives this Sunday, will see Negan further pressed to keep up appearances for his new boss, who is happy to hold his family over his head. The Dama is certainly living up to the first word in the episode’s title, as she’s getting a little bit feisty with the leather-clad Negan while he taunts a walker trapped inside a tow truck. Ordering her new enforcer to keep their day in line with his cool, calm, collected, and threatening attitude, The Dama is taken aback when he gives her a sarcastic response. Reclaiming her upper hand, she slyly reminds him that she knows where his family is — forcing Negan to keep...

The second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has brought with it new challenges for Maggie (Lauren Cohan). It is fair to say that the character has endured her fair share of woe throughout her time on the franchise. Her closest family: her father, Hershel (Scott Wilson), her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun), and her sister, Beth (Emily Kinney), have all perished before her eyes. At the time Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was acquainting his barbed-wire baseball bat, Lucille, with Glenn's head, Maggie was pregnant with their son, Hershel (Logan Kim). Maggie and Negan have since had to share the spotlight in Dead City, and it's been clear that she hasn't forgiven him for his actions. It is a pain that has strained Maggie's relations with her son, and seen his loyalties torn.

Negan and Maggie's split is something that is not fully understood by Hershel (Logan Kim), her son. However, Kim has pitched an idea on how Dead City might bring back Glenn on-screen.
"Well, we could see maybe a flashback of Glenn, or maybe bring on the ghost of Glenn! Something like that would be cool," Kim tells ScreenRant in an interview.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 2!The Walking Dead: Dead City star Logan Kim, who plays Hershel, has pitched how the spinoff could bring Steven Yeun's Glenn back. Glenn was a core character in the zombie franchise from the very beginning, but was killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) during his introduction in the season 7 premiere. However, his presence is still felt by characters in Dead City, especially Maggie (Lauren Cohan), who still hasn't fully recovered from what happened. This remains a core part of the divide between her and Negan, something Hershel doesn't fully understand because he never met his father.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Kim pitched the idea that Glenn could return in The Walking Dead: Dead City either in a flashback or as a ghost. While the actor is unsure of the latter idea, since Hershel never met him, he does believe...

The second episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City saw Maggie (Lauren Cohan) return to Manhattan with her son, Hershel (Logan Kim), by her side after the pair were nearly killed thanks to some incredibly poor leadership. And, in a teaser for this weekend’s episode, they’ll continue to fight alongside one another for survival now that they’ve returned to the titular island.
Foreshadowing the action to come, the speedy peek gives us a look at Maggie, Hershel, and the rest of those who survived last week’s explosive ferry ride as they fight for their lives against walkers in the overgrown streets and parks of Manhattan. But, the dead aren’t the only ones they need to watch out for, as Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) is on the lookout and tracking any potential survivors on orders from The Dama (Lisa Emery). Whatever happens out on the once...

The quest for the methane begins and perhaps ends just as fast. It seems both Maggie and Negan are in similar positions of being forced into the situation, which may be what saves them in the end. In The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 episode 2 "Lesson," we learn just how threatening The Dama can be, and how irresponsible the New Babylon Federation (unsurprisingly) is. Here's a recap of the episode on AMC!

One of the last times The Walking Dead Universe had a war on the scale of what we're currently seeing in Dead City season 2 was the All Out War storyline from the main show, which pitted the Alexandrians against the Saviors. What's the connection to that war, you may be asking? Well, Negan is once again at the epicentre of things.
However, the Negan we're seeing in the battle for Manhattan is a very different person from the ruthless, cut-throat one who led the Saviors back in the day. Given the fact that he's caught between a rock and a hard place by being blackmailed into being a leader by the Dama, Negan is reluctantly going about his duties. There's something very introspective about Negan this season. On the one hand, you can tell by the occasional wry grins that there's a sadistic side to him that enjoys being reunited with "Lucille 2.0." On the other,...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 1!Jeffrey Dean Morgan has confirmed in which episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 Maggie and Negan will reunite as conflict builds. The first episode of Dead City season 2 established that Negan (Morgan) is now working under the Dama (Lisa Emery) to unite the groups of Manhattan under her rule. While this is partially a power play, she's also doing this to protect the island from the New Babylon Federation, who have recruited Maggie (Lauren Cohan) among other soldiers in their mission to secure the city's operations of turning zombies into methane.
Speaking with Deadline, Morgan confirmed that Maggie and Negan will reunite in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 4. While he did not offer details on what their reunion will entail, he did confirm the audience "will see us reunite [in episode 4]," during the halfway point of the season.

Has Twd’s spinoff introduced a wacky time system? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
The Twd Universe within the show has expanded and incorporated several offshoot trajectories, which can be a little confusing to keep track of. The timeline in The Walking Dead universe is different from what we usually see. While we usually use A.D. or B.C. to mark the historical dates, the Twd universe reportedly has a time marker of its own.
With the premiere of Dead City season 2, there was an unmentioned presence of date in one of the scenes in the first episode. The entrance of the Bricks’ residence had the date “Founded 17 P.D.I.” This dating method could mean a timeline after the outbreak of the dead. While there has been no confirmation about the usage of a new time measure in the show, it can be assumed that there is one, as...

A new clip from The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 shows Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) returning to his old ways and delivering a shock with Lucille during a sermon. Dead City season 2 sees Negan forced to work under the Dama (Lisa Emery) to unite the survivors of Manhattan under her group. Season One laid its cards on the table with a striking premise: Maggie and Negan, once mortal enemies, storm a decaying Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel. By the finale, Negan finds himself shackled as a political pawn under the Dama’s iron grip, while Maggie secures her boy’s safety at the cost of uneasy truces.
Season Two vaults directly into those tensions. Negan initially refuses the Dama’s offer to reclaim power, only to relent when the Croat’s threats extend to his hidden family. Across the river, Maggie bargains with the New Babylon forces—offering herself as collateral to keep Hershel alive.
This installment doubles down on its ambitions. Stretching to eight episodes, it carves out space for both lead characters to confront lingering grief and repressed guilt. New survivor enclaves—ranging from cultured zombie-brawlers to folk-ritual mystics—inject fresh oddities into familiar power plays.

This Sunday, the dead will rise again, with the Season 2 return of The Walking Dead: Dead City. The Walking Dead: Dead City was always the weirdest spinoff in The Walking Dead universe. Set in New York City, the show focuses on unlikely duo Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). In season 1, the two worked together to break into desolate Manhattan to save Maggie's kidnapped son, Hershel. However, it turned out that it was all an elaborate ploy to put Negan into the custody of Manhattan's leader, the Dama.

After nearly two years, the wait is almost over with a brand-new season of The Walking Dead: Dead City arriving on AMC and AMC+ this Sunday, May 4. There will be a lot of loose ends that need tying up when audiences pick back up with Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, and in a freshly dropped teaser, we’re getting a peek at some of those storylines. With supporting performances from Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights), Željko Ivanek (Black Hawk Down), Lisa Emery (Ozark), Dascha Polanco (Orange Is the New Black), Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy), Logan Kim, and Mahina Napoleon, the sophomore installment promises to be bigger, bolder, and badder than the set of episodes that first paved the way for the offshoot.

If you thought The Walking Dead was done for good after the Og show ended in 2022, think again. Because AMC decided to continue the franchise with a spin-off show focusing on Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprising their roles as Maggie and Negan. Titled The Walking Dead: Dead City, this show started off with their journey into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son.
Now, when the first season premiered, it created the impression that a six-episode show was enough to tell the story of Maggie and Negan’s journey. But now that Season 1 is over, it’s clear that The Walking Dead: Dead City was never intended to be a miniseries. So guess what? AMC has greenlit season 2 for the 2025 premiere.
