Son of a famous music hall comedian, also called Fred Emney (1865-1917). Fred Jr.'s sisters Doris and Joan Fred Emney were also comediennes.

Portly British comedian with music hall background, also surprisingly good pianist and composer. Enjoyed many successful runs on the stage, most notably "Blue for a Boy" at Her Majesty's Theatre in London (1950-1951). Appeared in occasional films. Often spotted a monocle and, invariably, a fat cigar.
