German actress and singer of the 1930's and 40's. She was trained by Ilka Grüning in Berlin and made her professional stage debut in 1932. Despite starring in her first film, "Die blonde Nachtigall", she was primarily utilised as a second lead and supporting player thereafter. Her part in the notorious Nazi propaganda film "Jud Süß" damaged her post-war acting prospects.

The year 1932 was a very busy one for Else Elster. She took part in eight movies and made her theater debut at the same time. In the following years she also impersonated many roles on stage.

She had for 4 children, one of them was from the relation she had with Wolf-Heinrich Graf von Helldorff.

The actress Else Elster attended the music academy in Vienna.

Besides her career as an actress she was also acting as a cabaret artist and singer.
