The future of Time Bandits on Apple TV+ has been revealed. Unfortunately for fans of the series, it's not good news at all.
Per Deadline, it's been reported that Time Bandits has been canceled after one season. The news comes less than a month after the show ended its freshman season on Apple TV+, concluding on Aug. 21 after initially debuting on July 24. Consisting of 10 episodes in total, the first and only season released two episodes together on a weekly basis. While the show garnered a respectable 78% score on Rotten Tomatoes, its viewership was not particularly high, as Time Bandits failed to crack the Nielsen Top 10 rankings for streaming titles.

Warning! This article contains Spoilers for Time Bandits (1981) and Time Bandits season 1.
Time Bandits season 1 brings a fresh take on the classic movie, offering new storylines and character developments. The show diverges in casting choices, featuring diverse actors and a more detailed exploration of the time bandits' characters. Changes in historical figures and character fates differentiate the show from the original movie, setting up the potential for season 2.
Time Bandits season 1 revealed many differences between the 2024 Taika Waititi show and the 1981 Terry Gilliam movie it was based on. The 1980s fantasy movie was adapted into an Apple TV+ show that featured 10 episodes in its first season, allowing for an expansion of the story. Along with this expanded story came many changes, though they followed similar premises, making it a clear remake rather than a show inspired by the movie.

Time Bandits star Lisa Kudrow recently shared that Taika Waititi slid into her DMs to ask her if she would star in the Apple TV+ series. According to the former Friends star, getting her to sign on to the fantasy adventure project didn't take much convincing.

Warning: contains spoilers for Time Bandits (1981) & (2024) episodes one & two.
“Strong language, self-harm references & violence. This programme isn’t suitable for younger viewers,” is the warning from Channel4.com to anybody currently wishing to stream Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy adventure film Time Bandits in the UK. Despite the film’s “G” (all ages admitted) rating, the streamer asks viewers to confirm that they’re over the age of 16 before it will play.
An overreaction, or fair dos, in light of the film’s meaty battle scenes and famously bleak ending?
The Original Time Bandits Ending
In the film’s final scenes, 11-year-old Kevin (Craig Warnock) awakens in his own bed following a series of perilous adventures through history with a band of time-travelling wannabe thieves played by actors with dwarfism.
After romping through Napoleon’s battlefields, having a hand in the killing of the Minotaur, experiencing the sinking of the Titanic,...

Time Bandits may not be one and done. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, who developed the modern-day reimagining of the beloved 1981 film, recently revealed that a second season is being written.
Speaking with ComicBook.com to promote the upcoming Apple TV+ series, Clement shared that a second season is in the process of being written, although it has not officially received the greenlight from the streamer yet. "We are actually writing a second season, but it depends on if people watch the first season. If no one watches it, we throw it away in a bin," he said. "But I cannot tell you because I don't want to spoil the second season." Time Bandits is the latest collaboration between Waititi and Clement after the What We Do in the Shadows franchise.

Tony Robinson’s much loved 1990s Cbbc sitcom Maid Marian And Her Merry Men is heading to the stage this year, here are the details.
Though Tony Robinson is best known as dim-witted servant Baldrick alongside Rowan Atkinson across several iterations of Blackadder, to a certain generation he is creator, writer as well as playing the role of the Sherrif of Nottingham in Maid Marian and Her Merry Men. A classic show, which ran for four series on the BBC from 1989 to 1994.
For kids TV trivia fans, it is thanks to Maid Marian that Russell T Davies got his start in writing television drama.
Funding and studio time was booked for Maid Marian in 1991, but it was put on hiatus. Davies submitted his script for children’s sci-fi serial Dark Season to both the Head of Cbbc and to Granada. Both were interested, but Cbbc’s offer was better, Maid...

Jabba the Hutt defines "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." A massive alien creature puppet made by staff who cut their teeth on "The Dark Crystal," he took "four tons of clay" to produce (per J.W. Rinzler's "The Making of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi") and was barely finished in time for the film. Puppeteer Toby Philpott called him "probably the most expensive puppet that's ever been made" in the Jabba-centric documentary "Slimy Piece of Worm-Ridden Filth." His Tatooine palace set saw the "Star Wars" production staff aiming to outdo the famous Cantina scene in "A New Hope." So garish was his environs that the production staff paid to obtain rare frogs for the set, so that Jabba could pretend to eat plastic versions of them.
To some, Jabba was an inconvenience. To others, he was an inspiration. But perhaps nobody else on set had a relationship...

Tony Robinson’s revisionist Robin Hood children’s comedy series, out now on limited edition DVD, was a hoot…
In the mid-eighties, my teenage sister amused herself by teaching me to say “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle”. Not being a six-year-old well-versed in the rhetorical techniques of social emancipation, I didn’t get it. (I’d seen a flea circus; why mightn’t fish find a use for bikes?) My feminist awakening was obviously going to have to wait.
See related DC Comics movies: upcoming UK release dates calendar Batman V Superman: where does it leave the Justice League? Batman V Superman: Michael Shannon fell asleep watching it Zack Snyder interview: Batman V Superman
But not long, it turned out. One copy of Babette Cole’s Princess Smartypants picked from the Year Three reading table later and I was feeling pretty woke.

Danny John-Jules has voiced his approval of a potential Maid Marian and Her Merry Men reunion.
Creator Sir Tony Robinson recently said that he might return to the classic BBC children's comedy "one day".
Red Dwarf actor John-Jules - who played merry man Barrington in the show - said he would definitely like to be involved if the project came to fruition.
"Man, I'd be there like greased cheetah s**t," he told Digital Spy. "I'd be there in a minute.
"To me, it's still probably the - or at least one of the - best children's shows ever made. And the fact it won the Prix Jeunesse award? I think the BBC hadn't won that for 10 years or something.
"The first series won a Royal Television Society award, a Bafta and a Prix Jeunesse. It was like, 'My god, this is the first series and we've won all these,...

Sir Tony Robinson has said that he is "proud" of his classic children's TV series Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, which marks its 25th anniversary this year.
The Blackadder actor created and starred in the BBC comedy, which ran for four series from 1989 to 1994.
"That was the first series that I had artistic control over," he told Digital Spy. "It was just me and my friend David Bell, who was the director, and we made all the decisions.
"You just wouldn't be able to make a series in that way for British television now, there would be too many commissioning editors leaning over your back."
He continued: "We were given a remarkably good budget and were totally allowed to see our vision through. I'm really glad that I was able to do that, and I'm still very proud of it."

Stars: Sean Connery, John Cleese, Shelley Duvall, Ian Holm, Michael Palin, Ralph Richardson, Peter Vaughan, David Warner, David Rappaport, Kenny Baker, Malcolm Dixon, Mike Edmonds, Jack Purvis, Tiny Ross | Written by Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin | Directed by Terry Gilliam
Time Bandits was first released in 1981. A family adventure film that sported a fantastic and massive cast of names, with the likes of Sean Connery, John Cleese, Shelley Duvall, Ian Holm and Michael Palin, among others. It was like a fantastical family film with the cast of Monty Python.
Director and another former Python, Terry Gilliam, who went on to direct such incredible cinematic events as Brazil, Twelve Monkeys and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas was behind the camera here, much like he was in the Monty Python movies and it feels very similar to his previous work in many ways. Surreal and at times incredibly weird, Time Bandits just feels like a Gilliam film.
