Biography

    • People magazine (Latin Edition) calls Guy Ecker one of Latin America's most beautiful people...for the third time. He's earned two "Best Leading Actor" awards; as well as two people's choice awards. He starred in the Telenovela "Eva Luna," which reached an audience of 9.7 million during the grand finally, and was among the most globally tweeted events during the last televised episode. He also starred in "Vidas Cruzadas," the first of its kind, internet series produced for Univison, reaching 2.5 million views, making it the 2nd most watched project in the network's history.

In addition to Guy's success in the Hispanic Market, his perfect spoken English allowed him to cross back over to the U.S. where he was cast for two seasons on NBC's "Las Vegas," and co-starred in films like "Only the Brave" beside Jeff Fehey, and "Malevolent" with Lou Diamond Phillips.

Guy was born in Brazil, raised in four different Latin American countries, and speaks three languages, fluently. After graduating high school in Rio de Janeiro, Guy moved to the U.S. for the first time, where he attended the University of Texas in Austin, during which time he taught English classes, ballroom dancing, trained horses, and ran his own translation and dubbing company, before landing his first lead in an independent film. A second followed, and after his third, Guy packed up his things and his unknown film career to accept an acting job in South America. He was given the lead role in "Café con aroma de mujer." When "Café" hit the air, not only was it an overwhelming success, but it opened the door to an international market, allowing RCN Television to export a telenovela for the very first time. After receiving offers from various networks Guy went on to sign a contract with Televisa, in Mexico City; where he starred in novelas like: "La Mentira," "Salome," and "Heridas de Amor," which all had the highest ratings in Latin American history, selling to over 90 countries, and in some instances exceeding the ratings of American prime time programing when aired on Univision network.

During this time Cristina Saralegui (the Hispanic Oprah) dedicated two of her one-hour shows "The Cristina Show" to Guy, and chose him to be the first male celebrity to be featured on the cover of "Cristina" magazine. The father's day issue which featured Guy with his 10-month-old son, sold out shortly after hitting stands, forcing the magazine to print a 2nd run. It comes as no surprise that most of Guy's projects have been presold and have generated record-breaking results not only among Hispanics in the U.S. but all around the world.

You can currently see Guy on Telemundo's: "El Senor de Los Cielos" as DEA agent Joe Navarro, and coming this fall: John Morris, in "El Recluso."

Trivia

  • Guy and a friend were looking over pictures at a photo shop, when suddenly her purse was snatched off of the counter. Guy ran out of the photo shop and down a main avenue chasing the thief who had gotten on a bus. Luckily the bus stopped at a light, Guy caught up with it, and got on. When he exited the bus, he had the purse in one hand and the perpetrator in a headlock. People cheered him on, yelling: "Well done Sebastian!" The thief was turned over to the local authorities, and his friend was very grateful to have her purse back.
  • Guy has won four awards for his acting. He received the award for "Best Leading Actor" in Mexico this year, and in 1994 he received this same award in Colombia. He was also awarded by critics in New York and Miami, for his performance in "Café con Aroma de Mujer."
  • Formerly a dance instructor in Salsa, Tango, Merengue and Cha-Cha, to name a few.
