Biography

Merridy Eastman is an Australian actress and best selling author. Having graduated from NIDA, Merridy has worked extensively in theatre for Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, STC of SA, Belvoir, Malthouse, Shakespeare in the Park, the Ensemble Theatre and many more. On television she has played guest roles on everything from Neighbours (Network 10) to the award winning Rake (ABC TV), and has been a regular cast member on various drama comedy series including Packed to the Rafters and Always Greener, both for Channel 7. Merridy was also a Playschool presenter for 4 years. Merridy's first book, There's A Bear In There (a humorous memoir of her year working as a nervous receptionist in a Sydney brothel) was published in the UK, Germany, NZ and was a national best seller in Australia. Merridy has had two more books published by Allen and Unwin: Ridiculous Expectations & How Now Brown Frau, and has contributed to anthologies for publishers including Penguin and Pan MacMillan. Merridy is currently a regular cast member of the new series Back To The Rafters, filming in Sydney, produced by Amazon and Seven Studios, while writing her fourth book and a play commissioned by ABC Radio.
