María Eugenia Dávila was a recognized first Colombian actress. Her maternal grandparents had a theatrical group, the Compañía Cardeño, which between 1888 and 1935 toured Greater Antioquia. She went to Bogotá and in 1959, at the age of 10, he received an opportunity with a small role in the first Colombian soap opera: El 0597 está ocupado (1963).

She was noted for multiple roles in film, theater, and television. However, with her money and her fame, she found an escape in drugs and alcohol, which brought her many problems in her work, to the point that in her last years she did not manage to work for her almost advanced age. Although she underwent treatments to overcome her addictions, her health was deteriorated.

María Eugenia Dávila in her last days remained hospitalized due to health problems caused by her drug addiction. Before I had lived in tenancy homes and living in poverty

She passed away on her birthday on May 9, 2015, at the age of 66, after suffering from several months of respiratory conditions.
