Dave Grohl of Nirvana and The Foo Fighters was a guest on Howard Stern's show after Hank died, and pointed to a life-size cutout of Hank on the radio show's wall and said he was a big fan of Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf.

On August 16th, 1996, when Howard Stern went on the air at the beginning of his radio show, he mentioned there was a "drunk midget" in the station's waiting room. At 6:35 in the morning, after trying to figure out the new phone system, Hank made his first appearance, and, after saying how much he hated the term midget and preferred dwarf, he read prepared poetic statements about different kinds of people from various countries, from Irish to French, which deemed him "Angry," and hence "Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf" was born.
