She originally wanted to be a ballet dancer and left school at 14 after winning a ballet scholarship to attend the Dorothy Stevens School of Ballet in Leeds, England. She later attended the Lewis Ballet Company in London. She had to abandon ballet after losing cartilage in her knee.
