Her mother, Winifred, was the lover of the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII and the Duke of Windsor). Her father, William Dudley-Ward, was the Liberal Member of Parliament for Southampton.
Known for her ladylike presence in classic war-era British film, she
abruptly retired following marriage in 1948.
